Chapter 54 Spikes deserve to be unloved.
After the party ended, Ke Yanchen drove Yu Wu home. Only after they got out of the elevator did he realize that Yu Wu's flashy red Lamborghini had been smashed to pieces, completely totaled.
Ke Yanchen didn't say much, but borrowed a car to take Yu Wu home. Once home, Yu Wu dealt with him for a long time. After entering the house, she stood blankly in the entryway for a long, long time before numbly calling Cheng Yi, but the call didn't go through.
She went upstairs to knock on Cheng Yi's door.
Nobody's here.
Yu Wu called Zan Ya and asked her to relay the message.
Zan Ya's voice was excited as she cut to the chase: "Why haven't you arrived yet? We can't get through on the phone. Everyone's been waiting for you for ages!"
"Please call Cheng Yi for me. I need to see him."
Zan Ya froze, realizing something was wrong. She opened her mouth, and after a long pause, finally managed to say "okay".
Twenty minutes later, Zan Ya drove downstairs, and Yu Wu got into the car.
"What exactly happened? Wasn't he supposed to confess to you today? Everyone has been waiting for you at Cloud Mist Mountain for ages."
Yu Wu lowered her eyes: "I dumped Cheng Yi and got together with Ke Yanchen."
"—What?" Zan Ya slammed on the brakes, turned sharply to look at Yu Wu, and murmured, "How could this be?"
"So I went to tell him to end the relationship."
“I…” Zan Ya blinked and bit her lip. A strong sense of guilt blamed her, and she wanted to say something. After struggling and feeling lost for a long time, she felt that any words would be inadequate.
She turned to look at Yuwu again. Yuwu exuded an indescribable sadness, quietly and blankly staring at the neon lights flashing past the window.
...
Yu Wu forced herself not to think about anything. But the intimate moments they shared that afternoon kept replaying in her mind—the screams of pain, the joy and tenderness—things she feared she would never experience again.
In that split second, she couldn't say whether it was right or wrong. Now, reflecting carefully, she suddenly realized she had unconsciously replicated Ke Yanchen's selfishness. Denying the relationship, abruptly ending the relationship, seamless transition, betraying true feelings.
They completely disregarded his feelings.
I don't care what kind of laughing stock he becomes, or how his sincere heart is slandered and spread.
She kept trying to mentally prepare herself. If, if Cheng Yi remained so resolute, then she would give up everything. She would give up everything, even if the hatred and pain would stay buried with her for the rest of her life, even if this relationship wouldn't last, she would accept it.
As long as Cheng Yi still wants her.
*
Upon arriving at Cheng Yi's residence in Tanshan, the elderly butler was already waiting there. He politely and silently led Yu Wu through a maze of turns to Cheng Yi's study.
The curtains in the study were only half drawn, and the pale moonlight slanted in, dividing the room into two areas.
Cheng Yi's tall figure almost blended into the darkness, with only the crimson fingertips hanging at his sides drawing attention to his presence.
The two looked at each other.
Neither of them spoke first.
Even in the darkness, Yuwu could feel his imposing aura, and his contemptuous and indifferent gaze sent chills down her spine.
After a moment of silence, she said, "I'm here to break up."
Cheng Yi let out a strange, chilling laugh.
"Break up? What kind of relationship do we have? Is it even worth talking about breaking up?"
Every sentence is barbed, every word is venomous.
Yu Wu remained calm: "Our relationship is that of friends with benefits."
Deep down, she still harbored a ridiculous fantasy, hoping that Cheng Yi would say something kind, something to persuade her to stay. She was willing to give up everything, she was willing.
But Cheng Yi is naturally good at creating nightmares.
He looked down at her with disdain, his pupils cold and devoid of warmth. The cigarette hissed and the smoke drifted as he uttered each word clearly: "A shameless woman like you is nothing more than a plaything for me."
Every word pierced her heart like a knife. Yu Wu felt as if her heart had been squeezed hard, throbbing with pain. Her gaze fell on the moonlit lake outside the window, hazy and desolate.
I'm sorry.
"Sorry?" Cheng Yi laughed. "What do you have to apologize for? You feel sorry for me? You think I'd have any emotional reaction to you? You overestimate yourself. Someone like you, who willingly degrades himself and likes to hang out with scum like Ke Yanchen, what right do you have to compare yourself to me?"
"Is it just because we slept together a few times that gave you confidence and made you think I care about you?"
The little bit of courage she had managed to muster collapsed silently. Yu Wu's chest heaved as she struggled to breathe, remaining silent and looking at him with teary eyes.
She was once carefully lifted up, only to be brutally shattered by the same person.
It felt like she had shattered a beautiful dream with her own hands. Those fleeting moments of sweetness slipped through her misty heart like flowing water, leaving nothing behind. She had once thought she was about to be happy, but it turned out to be just another dream. She knew she was pathetic and laughable, but she was broken, struggling. The hatred, pain, doubt, and ridicule of her adolescence were too heavy a burden, preventing her from living like a normal person even today.
During the silence, Cheng Yi didn't utter a word. He was full of sharp edges, exuding a gloomy indifference and oppressive contempt. With a click, he lit another cigarette, wisps of white smoke floating and flowing in the air.
"How come I never noticed before that you like to act like a jerk?"
His fingertips glowed crimson as he casually flicked off the ash and slowly strolled over.
His chilling aura suddenly drew near, and Yu Wu's heart trembled.
Cheng Yi moved closer to her, their foreheads almost touching, and maliciously blew a puff of smoke into her face.
At such close range, he could see the reddened corners of his eyes and a film of water covering his deep pupils.
Yu Wu coughed a few times, choked by the fumes, her voice trembling slightly: "And what about you? Are you really that determined?"
"I have never liked you." Cheng Yi stared intently at her with his dark, fierce eyes, answering directly.
A surge of bitterness coursed through her chest, and Yu Wu gritted her teeth, stubbornly staring at him for a few seconds.
“You’re lying,” she continued stubbornly. “At least a little bit.”
The whole room fell silent.
Yu Wu sniffed, desperately trying to suppress her overwhelming emotions, her voice choked with sobs as she stubbornly repeated, "At least you were sincere to some extent."
"Sincerity?" He sneered as if he had heard the biggest joke in the world. "Other people's sincerity is something to be treasured, but your sincerity is something to be trampled on!"
"Is this interesting? Is toying with one man not enough? Do you want the whole world to be your devoted followers?"
Tears finally broke free, streaming down her face. Her body trembled with cold, and her fingertips shook.
She turned her head away. "You don't understand me."
You don't understand my struggle.
They don't understand my inner turmoil and pain.
They don't understand my cowardice.
I don't have the courage to love, but it's you. You showed me a glimmer of the possibility of being loved.
Why can't you be a little more assertive?
Cheng Yi grabbed her by the back of the neck fiercely, his arm veins bulging, forcing her to look at him.
His chest heaved violently as he breathed, and after a long while, he managed to shudder and exhale, each word uttered as if it were being forced out with extreme force:
"Yu Wu, you just love to act like a jerk."
He almost roared, "You deserve to have your self-respect trampled on, you deserve to be unloved! No one can stand your twisted and weird personality! Your emotional indifference is driving people crazy! You deserve to be lonely forever, you deserve to have your sincerity betrayed!"
......
A sudden, devastating blow.
Her mind went blank, her body stiffened on the spot, her scalp throbbed, her blood congealed, her heart stopped pumping blood, and she was as bewildered and helpless as a child, unable to breathe.
"...This is your honest opinion." Yu Wu stared blankly at him, cold tears streaming down her face.
"What does it matter whether I love you or not? Anyone can love anyone! Love is cheap! I don't care about it at all! People don't have to live on love alone! If I were to be loved by someone as arrogant, selfish, and despicable as you, I would feel like I'm covered in lice, and it would make me feel disgusted and want to vomit!"
"Every single second I spend with you is an act that I have to put on! I only care about the resources you have. No one can tolerate your selfishness and domineering nature!"
"I was the one who started this relationship and ended it. You were the one who was cheap and despicable, coming at me like a dog!"
......
Cheng Yi was breathing heavily, his eyes were wet, and he was staring at Yu Wu as he gripped the back of her neck tightly.
Her face was streaked with tears, filled with disappointment in him, which deeply pierced his eyes, like a sharp knife cutting into his heart.
Almost instantly, he wanted to reach out and wipe away her tears, to hold her in his arms and comfort her, to kiss her hair. He knew she was actually very easy to comfort. She was very obedient.
But he endured it with all his might.
He simply stared coldly at her, feeling his own pain.
His heart was breaking, and he trembled, struggling to breathe. It was as if all the organs in his chest had forgotten to function; that feeling returned, and he couldn't feel that he was still alive.
They knew each other too well; the deep affection they once shared had transformed into sharp blades used to stab each other. They used the most hurtful words to wound each other, their own hearts twisting in agony, unable to breathe. The dependence, frankness, sincerity, genuine affection, and intimacy seemed so close, yet now only bloodied, stabbing swords remained.
......
Yu Wu's carefully constructed mental defenses crumbled completely, tears streaming silently down her face as she gasped for breath in silence.
After a long five-minute trial, Cheng Yi released her neck, his voice returning to its calm and indifferent tone.
"You are now Ke Yanchen's girlfriend."
"I told you, you'd regret it."
"Don't come to me again if you encounter any trouble in the future."
"To rot into the filth along with your Keke."
......
A deafening wail pierced the thick fog, and a sense of helplessness pressed down like the dark, oppressive sky. The faint flame of courage she had managed to ignite was completely extinguished by his sharp words.
She suppressed the excruciating pain in her chest and slowly walked to the door like a clay puppet. She paused, didn't turn around, and softly said, "I know I've wronged you. I promise you, I'll never look for you again."
"I only have one request."
There was no sound behind me.
Yu Wu continued, "After we're over, if possible, I hope you can have a two-month break from dating."
A two-month hiatus gave me the illusion that I had been loved.
Let me deceive myself.
A sneer came from behind me, as I had expected: "You expect me to have a break period for a seamless transition?"
Yu Wu's fingertips trembled as she gripped her palms tightly to keep going.
Two minutes later, which seemed to stretch on indefinitely, a soft "hmm" was heard.
Yu Wu burst out of the door.
......
Stepping out of the old house, Yu Wu could no longer contain her surging emotions.
Exhausted as if the lamp had run out of oil, all the suppressed grievances, struggles, embarrassment, and shame finally poured out.
She crouched down and hugged herself, tears the size of beans welling up in her eyes.
She broke down and cried.
The surroundings were quiet and empty, the dim streetlights emitted a cold silver light, and ripples spread across the lake. Only Yuwu's sobbing was exceptionally clear.
An anxious footstep approached quickly, and Yuwu was pulled into a soft, warm embrace.
“Yu Zi…” Zan Ya’s eyes also welled up with tears. She knelt down, hugged Yu Wu tightly, tears streaming down her face, her voice choked with emotion: “Yu Zi, don’t cry…”
Yu Wu hugged the soft body tightly, helpless and bewildered, her voice trembling and choked with emotion: "But Ya Ya, on one side is a uncertain possibility, and on the other is the readily available revenge. What do you think I should choose..."
"I thought I was strong enough, so why, why am I still like this..."
"Ya Ya, he has never said he loves me. If I give him my trust again because of his uncertain feelings, and it all ends in nothing, I will die. I have only received so little love in my life. If I stumble again, it will really crush all my pretense of strength."
"...I really am going to die."
She didn't understand.
Why did she meet Ke Yanchen when she was completely honest, and why did she meet Cheng Yi when she was full of defenses?
Zan Ya also cried, her heart aching terribly. She hugged her, "Yu Zi, you're fine. It's their fault, it's their fault..."
Two girls, sobbing uncontrollably in the thick of the night, embraced each other tightly, giving each other strength.
Yu Wu knew that even if the whole world abandoned her, Zan Ya would always be behind her.
In the first half of her life, love was a deceitful lie, while friendship was a gentle and nurturing embrace.

Author's Note: I've finally finished these two chapters.
Both of them were sharp-tongued, and both of them were heartbroken and crying.
This chapter was originally meant to torment Cheng, but his attack power is too strong. If he doesn't have a good time, the whole world won't have a good time either.
Please don't attack Yuko.
