Chapter 9 Letter: Ke Yanchen wants to be with Yu Wu forever. ...
On Monday, when they arrived at the classroom, Ji Lingwei kept pestering Yu Wu, asking her to tell them about their relationship and to call Ke Yanchen out.
"Just let him buy me a drink! It'll make me look good if I tell him!"
Yu Wu said she would buy it for her, but Ji Lingwei disagreed and pestered Yu Wu for two days.
"It's just a bottle of beverage, it's just something that makes me look good when I talk about it."
Having no other choice, Yu Wu could only anxiously ask a classmate from Class 7 to call Ke Yanchen out during a break between classes.
“Actually, I don’t think he likes you at all. He’s not proactive at all.” Ji Lingwei finished speaking, then immediately covered her mouth and said with a smile, “Just kidding.”
The student from Class 7 came out and explained, "Ke Yanchen said he has something to do and will be very busy recently."
Yu Wu looked up and saw only Ke Yanchen's cold profile. He walked ahead with a cold face, followed by several people, and went out through the front door and downstairs.
"Have you noticed that he never truly lets you into his circle?" Ji Lingwei said this seemingly random sentence as she watched Ke Yanchen's figure disappear around the corner of the corridor, without mentioning the drink again.
Yu Wu lowered her head in a somber mood, pursed her lips, and gave a soft "hmm."
"Don't worry, I'll have one of my classmates from Class 7 talk to him."
"No!" Yu Wu quickly stopped her. "I know you mean well, but please don't."
"Oh." Ji Lingwei stared at her, a little uneasy: "I didn't speak tactlessly just now, please don't mind it."
Yu Wu nodded, forcing a smile.
*
Ke Yanchen seemed very busy.
For several days in a row, a bottle of fresh milk would still be quietly placed on Yuwu's table, and Yuwu would bring him milk every day.
In order to buy him milk and to save some money, Yuwu didn't eat dinner every night.
Apart from that, they have no other interaction.
It's strange, yet it seems perfectly natural.
They were never from the same world.
Yu Wu often recalls Ji Lingwei's words, "He never truly let you into his circle," and upon reflection, it's indeed true.
Especially last time when they were out, he told the man with the buzz cut that she was just his friend.
Because she liked him so much, all of this made Yuwu feel terrible.
She even began to think that she was starting to suffer the consequences.
*
A few days ago, there was a math test. Ji Lingwei and Yu Wu made a silly mistake on a simple basic question. The math teacher punished them by making them copy the formula ten times and also copy ten related questions.
Yu Wu and Ji Lingwei ran out of notebooks, so after evening self-study, the two sisters went to the convenience store to buy notebooks, planning to copy them during the evening self-study session.
The two had just gone upstairs when they found the classroom corridor packed with people, filled with noise. When they saw Yu Wu appear, the atmosphere reached a fever pitch, with the crowd laughing, joking, and pushing each other, their eyes gleaming with excitement, and spontaneously making way for Yu Wu.
Confused, Yu Wu walked into the crowd and was surrounded by people. She saw Ke Yanchen, who had an outstanding figure and appearance, standing there, with his classmates from Class 7 behind him.
His cheeks and ears were also unusually flushed, and his gaze went straight through the crowd to Yu Wu.
Amidst the commotion and jeering, the two looked at each other, their eyes filled with youthful shyness and awkwardness.
Instantly, two blushes appeared on Yuwu's cheeks.
Before Yu Wu could react, she was pushed into Ke Yanchen's arms by the cheering crowd behind her.
I immediately smelled his pleasant citrus scent.
He remained restrained and polite, giving her a light, almost feathery embrace.
The surrounding area was filled with deafening cheers and jeers, a cacophony of noise that reached a fever pitch, enough to deafen one's ears and threatening to lift the roof off. Amidst this cacophony, Yu Wu could only hear the thunderous pounding of his own heart and feel his slightly stiff arm.
The school bell rang, and the commotion dispersed like a receding tide.
Yu Wu returned to the classroom and glanced back at him. He was also looking at her, a slight smile playing on his lips.
She blushed and turned to go into the classroom.
*
Yu Wu took out the notebook she had just bought from the convenience store and tried desperately to suppress her surging emotions.
A nosy boy in her class told her that Ke Yanchen had just lost a game of Truth or Dare.
Yu Wu simply touched her burning face, gently pursed her lips and nodded. The surrounding classmates were frantically questioning her about her relationship with Ke Yanchen. At that moment, she did not notice Ji Lingwei's somewhat stiff expression.
After evening self-study, Yu Wu searched through the crowd but couldn't find Ke Yanchen. Of course, he'd been very busy lately.
Yu Wu and Ji Lingwei returned to their dormitory together.
Yu Wu was trying to calm herself down because her emotions were still unsettled. Ji Lingwei, for some reason, unusually refrained from starting a conversation.
The two walked in silence for a while. When they were almost back in the dormitory, Ji Lingwei suddenly blurted out, "Feeling pretty smug, huh?"
"What?"
Ji Lingwei quickly went into the dormitory room, saying, "It's nothing."
Yuwu was left alone in the same spot, completely bewildered.
Back in the dorm, Yu Wu was brushing her teeth, her mouth full of white foam, and Ji Lingwei came to apologize again.
She blinked her large, very light-colored eyes, her gaze sincere. "I'm sorry, Yu Wu. I've had some family matters to deal with lately, so sometimes I can't control my emotions."
Yuwu forgave her.
What's wrong at home? Can I help?
"Sigh, never mind, I won't tell you anymore, it's a family matter." Ji Lingwei sighed and went to wash up.
Yuwu didn't take this matter to heart.
*
Yu Wu's roommates returned to the dormitory one after another, all excited and eager to ask her what had happened.
"Yuwu, Yuwu, why would Ke Yanchen hug you?"
"Was Ke Yanchen really pursuing you before? Did he win you over?"
"Tell me quickly, what was it like to hug Ke Yanchen? Was he holding me tightly? What did he smell like?"
"When you said those things in the dorm before, I thought you were just bragging! Turns out you've been secretly having an affair with Ke Yanchen all along, you're quite the secretive one!"
"Quietly accomplishing great things! Awesome! Absolutely amazing!"
"Wow, the future young mistress of the Ke family!"
Yu Wu didn't want too many people to know, so she could only change the subject and deny it.
It was at this moment, when the dormitory was at its noisiest, that the student union president suddenly appeared at the dormitory door, followed by a group of members. She shouted sternly, "Quiet! Another disturbance and you'll lose points!"
The dormitory immediately fell silent, and everyone spontaneously went to find things to do.
The student council president glanced around, dismissed the members behind him, and then asked who Yu Wu was.
The atmosphere in the entire dormitory was tense; everyone thought the minister was there to cause trouble, and no one dared to utter a sound.
Yu Wu's roommates all stole glances at her out of the corner of their eyes, not daring to utter a sound.
Yu Wu braced herself and said with a bewildered look, "It's me."
Then a letter was handed to me.
The student council president gave Yu Wu a friendly smile: "Ke Yanchen asked me to give this to you. Also, please keep your voices down in your dorm!"
*
Yu Wu opened the letter and found that it was indeed written by Ke Yanchen.
The handwriting was vigorous and powerful, and it was a full page long.
The content is as follows:
To cause fog,
Actually, I never expected that we would end up together.
Today, a classmate suddenly told me that I've been feeling down lately, which surprised me a bit. I also realized that I've been neglecting you recently. So, after losing a game of Truth or Dare, I suddenly felt like doing something daring.
I hope I didn't scare you.
I noticed you not long after we started school. Your supposedly clever attempts to peek were anything but clever. Every time I glanced over, your flustered descent of your head and your bright red ears betrayed your poor acting skills.
Although her acting was clumsy, it revealed a kind of naive and innocent cuteness. Yes, in my heart, you are really cute. You look like a well-behaved student, soft and dazed, yet you show a unique kind of courage when you sneak peeks at me.
At this age when love is just beginning to blossom, affection is like a clear spring in the mountains, pure and unadulterated, without any impurities. I am very grateful to you for giving me that.
I was a little surprised when I found out you liked me. Although I always knew many girls liked me, hearing it from the other side of the head was a different story. The night you said yes, I was so excited I couldn't sleep all night.
I know you're worried about the gap between us, and about me having too many female friends. But I want to say, I don't care about the gap between us, I really don't. I love you, only you. Just be good, and I'll do my best in your eyes. Even if it's just for my sake, I hope you become braver.
My friend got into some trouble recently, and I'm helping him deal with it. Once this is over, I'll stop going to all those noisy parties and spend more time with you. We can go for a walk on the beach, find a quiet little shop to do our homework, and so on.
Speaking of homework, I noticed you're fifth in your class and 120th in the whole school for humanities subjects. I don't want to negatively impact your studies, so I'll be more supportive of you. I hope that if I become strict, it won't scare you.
Make sure to lock the doors and windows when you go home on weekends. The world isn't always fair to girls; there's a potential danger for you living alone, and I'm very worried. Once I'm less busy, I'll bring someone to replace your doors and windows with safer ones. Please don't refuse me.
Regarding my having too many female friends, Song Man and I are from families that have been friends for generations; we grew up together, and our bond is unbreakable. As for Yuan Yin, she's Song Man's sister, and our relationship is nothing more than that. Most of the other girls are friends of friends, and our relationships aren't very close. I understand the girls' anxieties about this. If you mind, I can delete the contact information of unrelated men and will consciously maintain a distance.
By the way, I've quit smoking. I quit for you, so you can't refuse me when it comes to studying.
Actually, I'm not a passionate person; I'm somewhat indifferent at heart. I don't easily fall for anyone, but uncontrollably, you always manage to attract me and break my principles. Seeing your innocent and silly appearance always makes me want to get closer and tease you. Your shy, pursed-lip smile can brighten my mood for the whole day.
I don't know what the future holds, but I will include you in my life plan. We promised to be together forever, and that's what we mean. I hope I can protect you and make you happy.
Yu Zi, please forgive my lack of eloquence. This letter contains no flowery language, nor do I know any romantic love poems. I simply want to express my true feelings and put your mind at ease. I hope you will always remember that I love you, that my heart is the only truly sincere and devoted one I have in the world, and you can verify this with me time and time again.
Thinking about it carefully, holding hands and spending a lifetime together is such a simple yet difficult thing. But I will definitely, definitely, always stand firmly on your side.
As I said before, I long for a passionate love that never ends, and I hope to spend my whole life fulfilling that promise.
Every word I have said comes from the bottom of my heart. I, Ke Yanchen, hereby swear that as long as you behave well, I will treat Yu Wu with all my heart for the rest of my life, and I will stay with Yu Wu forever. If I break this promise, may I be struck by lightning.
Signed: Your Keke
......
After Yu Wu finished reading the letter, her face turned bright red, like a boiled shrimp! Her roommates snatched the letter like hungry wolves, reading it aloud in the most exaggerated tone, and the whole dormitory erupted in laughter!
Unable to cope, Yu Wu simply threw herself into the blankets, her heart overflowing with tenderness and affection.
He realized that he had noticed her unease and hesitation.
It turns out he had planned his whole life.
A lifetime, how long is that?
He even swore a solemn oath.
......
"No way, no way, he was so excited he couldn't sleep!"
"He actually quit smoking for you!"
"He's so concerned about your studies!"
"He even wants to replace your doors and windows! How thoughtful! It makes me feel so safe! His tastes are so unique and his attention to detail is so thoughtful!"
"He actually said he could cut off all his relationships with other women for you!"
"Yuwu! I'm so envious!"
"Oh my God! Oh my God!"
"I'm so envious! Ahhh, no, I'm jealous! I'm insanely jealous!"
