Seeing that Chuanliu was still wary, she raised her pale face and said, "My head is worth a lot of money now. If you're afraid I'll harm you, you can just shout something on the street and you'll find some helpers."
"I feel like we have nothing left to talk about."
"Don't you want to talk to me anymore? Maybe the next time you see me, I'll already be a wronged soul killed by Zhang Feng."
Chuanliu fell into thought, not out of curiosity or pity, but because she realized that Xu Zhi could not die before she left the island.
She went downstairs and approached the sturdy iron railing.
Seeing the cautious Chuanliu, Xu Zhi said nothing and walked onto the main road, cautiously looking back and forth; just as she said, as long as Chuanliu shouted at this moment, Xu Zhi would immediately be discovered by Li Feng's men scattered throughout the Cube City.
Chuanliu secretly gripped a dagger in her hand as she left the villa, following behind Xu Zhi as they headed into the city.
Unexpectedly, Xu Zhi took her to the rooftop of the Cube Building.
At the very top of the tallest building on Paradise Island, a massive red cube blocked out a sliver of the setting sun.
As dusk approached, the wind gradually picked up, howling across the rooftop and even snatching away Xu Zhi's cloak, revealing the woman's slender and somewhat fragile figure.
Xu Zhi didn't pay attention, but stared blankly at Chuan Liu standing under the red square, and said calmly, "You know what? I really envy you."
The latter remained silent, listening as she continued.
Xu Zhi: "You have such good resources as soon as you arrive on the island. First, there's Ma Hu, then Qian Chuan, and then Wu Fangming... I'm jealous of you. Why is it that you've achieved what I've been working so hard to pursue for so many years?"
I've thought about becoming your friend, just like you and the others, but why are you so disobedient?
Chuanliu knew that Xu Zhi's thinking had gone astray, and she attributed all of Chuanliu's efforts and abilities to the word "luck".
Xu Zhi's face was full of disappointment. She took two steps back and stepped out of the shadows, letting the afterglow of the setting sun fall on her, bringing a touch of warmth.
"I've said it before, I have no interest in your position."
Chuanliu repeated the words she and Xu Zhi had emphasized many times: "You've become obsessed. Stop now."
Xu Zhi shook his head. "Chuanliu, even now, you still won't admit it?"
The girl frowned. "Who told you I have the 'Nine of Diamonds'? What's in it for me to sit in your seat?"
"Who said that doesn't matter anymore. Aren't rights good? Rights are so great..."
As she spoke, Xu Zhi raised one hand, using a "10 of Diamonds" to block out the sunlight. This was something she and Ah Xian had risked their lives to obtain.
Xu Zhi's deliberate attempt to conceal the truth made Chuanliu wonder, "Xu Zhi, who exactly told you this?"
Xu Zhi seemed not to hear him, but instead raised his eyes and questioned, "Why do you all betray me?"
Then, she took two steps back, getting closer and closer to the edge of the rooftop. Her gaze swept down and she saw that Li Feng had spotted her and was preparing to lead his men into the building.
"Xu Zhi, let's talk this out. Come here first."
If "Joker" dies and becomes of no value to the WD Investigation Bureau, she may never be able to leave again.
Chuanliu dared not move at this moment, fearing that he would agitate Xu Zhi.
The latter, however, simply sat on the rooftop railing, and no matter how much Chuanliu tried to soothe him, Xu Zhi showed no intention of moving.
The wind on the rooftop grew stronger, threatening to blow Xu Zhi away at any moment; due to excessive blood loss, the woman's consciousness seemed to be weakening, and her voice grew softer, "I heard that doing this will cause your brain to explode, making you look rather gruesome. Remember to prepare a burial for me."
"Xu Zhi! You can't die!"
Chuanliu took two steps closer, which only aroused the latter's agitation.
Xu roared, "Chuanliu, I'm all alone now, what's the point of living! Isn't this what you wanted to see? Don't try to be all crocodile tears here!"
Chuanliu quickly replied, "The WD Investigation Bureau has been looking for you! You still have a chance, you still have a chance to leave here!"
Xu Zhi stared with bloodshot eyes, "Looking for me? What makes you think that?"
After a moment's thought, Chuanliu said seriously, "...You're a 'kid,' right?"
"..."
There was complete silence, with only the sound of the whistling wind.
Suddenly, the two heard the sound of Li Feng and his men banging on the rooftop door.
Chuanliu looked at Xu Zhi anxiously, "Xu Zhi, come down! There's still a chance, I'll talk to them for you."
To everyone's surprise, the woman simply stared silently at the flowing river.
After a while, she suddenly laughed.
"Hahahahahahahahaha..."
Xu Zhi's pale face flushed red from laughing, and as she laughed, her body began to sway on the railing.
Chuanliu frowned as he looked at the woman.
Xu Zhi was still smiling, shaking his head as he said, "So that's how it is, so that's how it is... So your real purpose was to find the 'little devil'."
After she finished laughing, she looked at Chuanliu again and said, "If you're talking about the undeciphered document in the secret compartment of my study, then this is all ridiculous."
The girl's pupils contracted, trying to discern something from Xu Zhi's eyes.
As the rooftop door was about to be forced open, Xu Zhi's expression became uncertain.
"Chuanliu, I can tell you this seriously, I am not the person you are looking for."
