Chapter 11 Uneasiness

Upon hearing this voice, Ma Hu paused, coughed twice, and stepped out from under his men's protection.

"Brother Qian Liu, what a coincidence."

Why are the money strings here?

Ma Hu's heart sank.

He was still wearing a white shirt, and his hair was still combed up short; the man had rolled up his sleeves a few times, revealing the lines of his forearms, and a roguish smile appeared on his face.

Money String waved his hand, and the security guards from Hearts made way for him. "You've got guts, daring to bark on someone else's turf."

Ma Hu had completely lost his previous arrogance, and still stubbornly said, "My girl is lost here, I'm just looking for her."

Qian Chuan scoffed, turning to look at the man behind him, "Shuo Wu, you guys offer this service too?"

Wang Shuo, the "5 of Hearts" who was following behind Qian Lian, immediately understood and chimed in, "Sorry, Little Donkey, we are not responsible for looking after family members here."

Watching the two of them sing in unison, Ma Hu's face turned extremely ugly. Even though he had just been caught up in the moment, he was now beginning to feel fear.

With Qian Chuan's extensive network of connections, plus Wang Shuo, the manager of the Red Peach Casino, Ma Hu would never have caused such a commotion if he had known they were there.

Thinking to himself, "What bad luck!" Ma Hu apologized, saying, "I was reckless. I deserve to die, I deserve to die."

Then he slapped himself twice more, saying, "I won't disturb your two brothers' enjoyment, I'm leaving now."

After saying that, he turned to leave, but was stopped by Wang Shuo's men.

"Little donkey, why don't you learn your lesson?"

Wang Shuo clearly had no intention of letting him go, and his voice drifted over softly.

"If you want girls, Red Peach City has no shortage of them; but you, who hit my men and wrecked my place, have put me in a very difficult position..."

Wang Shuo's tone was filled with the imposing authority of a superior, and the calmer he was, the more Ma Hu trembled.

The former then asked, "Brother Qian Liu, I already gave you a lot of face with what happened before. This time I want the person back, you can't refuse to release him again, can you?"

Qian Chuan curled the corners of his mouth slightly, silently agreeing.

Ma Hu panicked and tried to break free from the security guards' control, pleading, "Brother Shuo, I won't do it again, please spare me! Brother Qian Liu, please save me, I'm '3 of Diamonds,' I can't die!"

Qian Liu ignored him and took out the identity card "3 of Diamonds" and several "2 of Diamonds" he had looted from Ma Hu's pocket.

Then, the person was dragged away.

After the farce ended, Wang Shuo and Qian Chuan left.

After a brief silence, the area quickly returned to its bustling state.

The waiter next to Chuanliu said excitedly, "That donkey has really fallen? I never thought I'd witness this day."

Chuanliu didn't respond; her thoughts had been interrupted when the money string appeared.

The appearance of the money string was definitely not accidental; it was most likely for the "6 of Diamonds" that the Hearts Casino had destroyed yesterday.

With Wang Shuo's help, they should be able to track down the cashier from that day very quickly...

VIP game room.

"...That's roughly what happened, Brother Qian Liu. I really didn't know those were your cards. If I had known, I definitely wouldn't have exchanged chips for that kid." The employee who exchanged the cards for Chuanliu yesterday looked terrified, afraid of accidentally offending the big boss in front of him again.

Wang Shuo and Qian Chuan listened to his story while playing a dice game.

The two opened the dice cup, and Wang Shuo shook his head helplessly.

Qian Chuan looked up, a hint of surprise flashing across his eyes. "Kid? What do you look like?"

The clerk tried hard to recall, "The kid was wearing a sweatshirt and a baseball cap, his hands were deathly pale, he was rather thin, and he spoke in a effeminate manner."

Qian Chuan scoffed, "Are you sure you're not describing a woman?"

The clerk seemed unsure at this point and added, "It was the waiter who told me yesterday. I... I didn't pay attention."

Qian Chuan and Wang Shuo exchanged a glance and raised an eyebrow. "How long have you been in this industry?"

Exchange clerk: "Reporting to Sixth Brother, five years."

Qian Chuan laughed, a hint of interest flashing in his deep, peach-blossom eyes.

"Interesting, very interesting."

The cashier was at a loss and lowered her head even further.

Wang Shuo smiled and kindly explained to the clerk, "Even an experienced person like you can't remember his face. If it's not because you're incompetent, then it must be something the other party did on purpose. You're done here, you can go now."

The money changer breathed a sigh of relief and fled as if escaping.

Wang Shuo then asked Qian Chuan, "What are your plans for the future?"

Qian Chuan: "I wasn't planning on investigating, but now I'm interested again. Your casino has security cameras installed, right? Can you get access to them?"

Wang Shuo shook his head. "Camera access is only granted to high-ranking members with a '10 of Hearts' or higher. I've done my best, brother."

Qian Chuan waved his hand, seemingly already having an idea. "It's alright, I actually have someone in mind right now." Then, he gave a few instructions to his subordinates.

Wang Shuo: "The candidate?"

Qian Chuan: "The instigator".

From the moment he met that woman, to discovering his missing identity card, to hearing that a "6 of Diamonds" had been destroyed at the Red Heart Casino, and now to the woman who escaped from Ma Hu's clutches...

He has no evidence.

But it's all too coincidental, isn't it?

But where is this woman now?

In front of the game table.

Chuanliu originally wanted to leave quickly, but the supervisor mistakenly thought he was skipping work and pulled him back to his post.

Based on her memory of previous games, the girl smoothly recited the dealer's script to guide the game, while keeping a close eye on her surroundings.

There was a sense of unease in my heart, but being surrounded by dozens of enthusiastic gamblers, escaping now would be too risky.

Only after seeing Wang Shuo greet Qian Chuan at the door did he find an opportunity to leave the game table and switch shifts.

To leave the Red Heart Casino, he absolutely couldn't wear the dealer's uniform anymore; his only option was the white dress stained with red wine. Chuanliu dipped the dress into red wine, directly changing its color to a deep, wine-red.

She tied the equipment back onto her body, and her original bun was tied up again with a strip of cloth dyed with red wine.

Without lingering any longer, instead of leaving through the main entrance, Chuanliu took a shortcut out of the Red Peach Casino.

As the girl walked through the neon-lit area, she felt a vague unease.

As she got closer to the City of Blocks, her unease did not disappear; instead, it intensified.

The afternoon sun is the most intense, its dazzling light making the ground scorching hot; you can even feel the earth's temperature through the soles of your shoes.

The streets were deserted, as if preparing for a night of revelry.

Something's not right.

The red cube on the tallest building in the Block City was getting closer and closer, but Chuanliu felt no joy at the prospect of returning home.

The mirror-like buildings reflected the blinding sunlight, causing Chuanliu to instinctively close his eyes.

The next second, a person appeared behind them, holding a wooden stick.

Before Chuanliu could react, the wooden stick struck her hard on the back of the head.
