A young girl dressed in pure white lay quietly on a soft bed. Her long eyelashes, like delicate fan surfaces, gently covered her closed eyes, adding a touch of mysterious tranquility to her face.
Sunlight streamed through the half-open window, gently bathing her in a golden halo and creating a serene and peaceful atmosphere.
The girl's breathing was light and even, like a gentle breeze brushing across a lake or a feather caressing her skin, ethereal and otherworldly.
She lay there quietly, as if the whole world had stopped, with only her soft breathing drifting slowly in the air, as if it could be carried away by the wind at any moment.
"It's been three days, and she still hasn't woken up?"
Susan's voice rang out, her tone full of worry.
"The doctor said she should wake up in the next couple of days. She was seriously injured and lost a lot of blood, so she will probably need to rest for a while. Fortunately, no vital organs were damaged."
"Money String replied."
At that moment, the girl's eyelashes trembled slightly. Under the watchful eyes of Susan and Qian Chuan, her bright eyes slowly opened.
"Chuanliu, you're awake."
Susan ran happily to the bedside and grabbed the girl's hand.
Qian Chuan poured a glass of water, gently helped the girl up, and held the glass to her lips.
The girl's eyes were vacant and confused. Her body shrank almost instinctively, but she dared not move again because she aggravated her wound.
She wanted to speak, but she couldn't utter a sound because she hadn't spoken for so long. Only after taking a sip of water did she weakly begin to speak:
"Who...are you?"
Susan and Qian Chuan froze, looking at Chuan Liu in disbelief, as if they wanted to confirm the girl's words again.
"Chuanliu, what... what did you say?"
The girl shrank back in fear, but the bed didn't give her much room to shrink back.
"Who are you? Who am I?"
Susan's joy at the girl's awakening dissipated somewhat.
She had been eagerly anticipating Chuanliu's awakening, hoping it would allow her to prove Jiulong's conspiracy to the higher-ups.
But she...
He's lost his memory?
Susan gripped Chuanliu's shoulders tightly, her voice trembling with emotion. "Chuanliu, stop joking! This isn't funny at all. How could you have amnesia? You just lost a lot of blood, you didn't hurt your head."
Because of Susan's movements, the girl on the bed's face, which had regained some color, began to turn pale again.
Like a startled fawn, she widened her eyes, furrowed her brow slightly, and said with difficulty, "I really don't know what you're talking about."
"Susan, that's enough."
The sound of money ringing out alerted Susan, who then realized her actions and quickly released her hands.
But she still wouldn't give up, and softened her voice to probe, "Chuanliu, think about it again. Your name is Chuanliu, and you're 'Square 10' from Square City. You came with Brother Qian Liu."
"10 of Diamonds..."
Chuanliu's voice was hesitant as she murmured, trying to recall what Susan had said.
After a long silence, she shook her head in frustration. "I'm sorry, I can't remember."
Susan wanted to say something more, "Chuanliu..."
"Go see a doctor and have them take a look at what's wrong."
Qian Chuan frowned and interrupted her.
If the girl really has amnesia, there's no point in asking her anything further.
Susan nodded and went outside.
After the woman left, Qian Chuan lowered his eyes, crossed his arms, looked at Chuan Liu who looked bewildered, and said slowly:
"She's gone, you don't have to pretend anymore."
After saying that, he stood there quietly, observing Chuanliu's expression.
But to his disappointment, Chuanliu hadn't changed at all; he still looked bewildered. "My name is Chuanliu. Your name is Qian Liu? Then who was that lady just now...?"
Qian Chuan raised an eyebrow. "Chuan Liu, it's just the two of us here, so you don't need to keep pretending anymore, do you?"
His voice carried a hint of anger, both because Chuanliu had once again acted alone without consulting him, and because she had risked her life and gotten herself injured.
However, upon hearing his words, the girl's eyes immediately filled with tears.
"You, you yelled at me!"
Crystal-clear tears slid down her cheeks, and the girl began to sob.
Just then, Susan walked in with the doctor. She heard Chuanliu's words and looked at the two of them strangely.
After a thorough examination, the doctor said, "Ms. Chuanliu's amnesia is likely due to excessive blood loss and brain hypoxia. Fortunately, we treated her in time, so this amnesia should be temporary."
Susan quickly asked, "When will her memory return?"
The doctor shook his head. "It depends on her recovery. It might happen in an instant, or it might take a month or two before she gradually remembers what happened before."
Susan sat on the edge of the bed, looking at the girl in front of her who was trying hard to receive the information, her feelings complicated.
She said helplessly, "Before Chuanliu regains his memory, why don't you stay here with me? After all, you got hurt because of me."
Qian Chuan tapped his right hand lightly on his arm, his tone unfriendly, "What, are you just going to stay here and wait to be silenced?"
Susan was speechless after being rebuked, and could only say to Chuanliu with an apologetic look in her eyes, "Although you may not understand what I'm saying now, Chuanliu, thank you! If you need my help in the future, just let me know."
Chuanliu nodded as if he understood, and said weakly, "Thank you, Su, Sister Susan."
Susan remembered something and picked up a wooden box from the bedside table.
