The river flowed like a graceful swallow, its silhouette dancing in the moonlight before nimbly landing on the roof of a house.
She gently retracted the grappling hook in her hand, skillfully secured it to her waist, and then silently slid down the water pipe on the wall, finally landing steadily on the balcony railing.
She stood quietly for a moment, listening to the sounds around her; the hoarse roars of the corpses echoed from all around the house.
The girl took a thin wire from her hair and deftly inserted it into the keyhole of the window with a deft movement of her fingers. She was completely focused on the task at hand, trying her best to make no sound.
As her fingers deftly turned in the keyhole, a soft "click" was heard, and the lock on the window was easily unlocked.
Just then, the corpses downstairs seemed to hear something, and their roars suddenly became more rapid, as if they were exchanging some kind of information with each other.
Then, we saw them start looking around.
The closer you are to the main city, the higher the sanity of the zombies.
They have just been controlled by drugs, but still retain some human intelligence, and can even communicate and cooperate.
Chuanliu carefully lifted a corner of the curtain, revealing his sharp eyes.
She looked around and saw that the room was quiet, with only a corner of the curtain being lifted, through which moonlight shone and spilled onto the floor.
The roars of the corpses continued, but they didn't seem to be getting any closer.
After a moment, their sounds gradually subsided, returning to their previous hoarseness and monotony.
They did not find any trace of the flowing water.
After confirming that no one was around, Chuanliu flipped over and jumped into the house.
The house was almost identical in layout to the house where the three of them lived; it was a simple three-story building with each room labeled with a room number.
Some rooms were unoccupied, with their doors wide open, revealing the uniformly styled furnishings inside.
This is also a hotel.
This was the hotel where Jiulong, his men, and his captives stayed.
When Chuanliu saw them at the edge of the cliff, he memorized their location.
The girl's slender figure moved quickly through the hotel corridor. Perhaps due to the unique nature of the Plum Blossom City at night, there were hardly any people to be seen in the hotel corridor.
The third floor of the hotel was almost deserted, but the second floor presented a completely different scene.
All of Jiulong's men were lounging around the stairwell and corridors, some sitting, some lying down, looking drowsy.
Jiulong is not only afraid of death, but he's also inhuman.
He wouldn't even book a room for his subordinates.
Some people were resting against the walls of the corridor, while others lay down on the ground and slept soundly. The entire second floor was almost filled with his men, leaving almost no room to stand.
Chuanliu climbed out of the window again, moving silently along the edge of the wall like a shadow, making almost no sound.
As she passed the terrace on the second-floor corridor, the moonlight was momentarily blocked by her figure, then quickly returned to normal, as if nothing had happened.
Did something just pass by?
A sleepy subordinate rubbed his eyes, trying to shake off the drowsiness, and bleary-eyedly looked towards the terrace.
"You must be mistaken. What could be there so late at night?"
Another subordinate, woken up by the noise, waved his hand impatiently.
"Let's take a look. What if it's one of those zombies?"
The first subordinate said worriedly, his voice trembling slightly.
"Then go ahead, but don't keep disturbing my sleep! Boss said he's going to ask Hou Yifan for some pocket money tomorrow."
The second subordinate rolled over and closed his eyes again.
"I...I'm too scared to go. You come with me."
The first subordinate poked the latter with his hand again.
"Wow, I'm really impressed by you!"
Although the latter was dissatisfied, he eventually had no choice but to sit up and prepare to go with him to check the situation.
The two cautiously walked to the edge of the corridor. They dared not open the window easily, but pressed themselves against the glass, trying to peek outside.
Just as they held their breath, a pale face, with disheveled hair covering most of it, suddenly appeared on the other side of the window like a ghost, pressed tightly against the glass.
On that face, the eyes were empty and lifeless, and when the bright red lips parted, they revealed gleaming white teeth.
Even through the glass, the sudden appearance of that face was enough to terrify the two of them.
They felt a chill run from their feet straight up to their hearts, as if an invisible hand was squeezing their hearts so tightly that they couldn't breathe.
"ah--!"
"ah--!"
Two horrific screams rang out almost simultaneously, sharp and piercing, like blades slicing through the silent night sky.
The sudden scream instantly woke everyone in the hallway.
They were all jolted awake from their sleep, staring in horror at the two people screaming, completely bewildered.
"Are you fucking trying to get me some sleep?!"
Jiulong burst out of the door, his face covered in sweat, his clothes disheveled, and his usually meticulously styled hair in a messy state.
His men immediately fell silent.
The source of the voice, still shaken, said, "Boss, boss, I'm so sorry, boss, we just saw a zombie."
"What, did it break in?"
Jiulong looked displeased and didn't care about the corpses the two were talking about.
The two henchmen quickly replied, "No, no."
