Sister Hua quickly arrived near the man and joined the fight.
She moved with agility, each swing of her dagger in the darkness carrying a sharp gust of wind. Her attacks were swift and precise, sometimes as fierce as the wind, sometimes as graceful as silk, making her unpredictable. The man, also wielding a dagger, attacked with even greater ferocity and directness, each thrust aimed to kill Zhui Ming instantly.
Sister Hua and the man worked together seamlessly, launching a continuous attack on Zhui Ming.
In the pitch-black basement, the tense atmosphere was as suffocating as the solidified darkness.
Despite being in the thick of it, Zhui Ming remained remarkably calm. He maneuvered against the two men in the darkness, dodging their attacks with agility. In the shadows, he seemed like a fish swimming through water, his dagger whirling in his hand like a whirlwind, constantly deflecting their offensive.
Hua Jie was secretly slashed by a blade. Her eyes hardened, and she warned her companion, "This kid is a bit tough. Be careful."
The man let out a deep sigh, and his attack became even more ferocious.
What the two couldn't see was that Zhui Ming's eyes were flashing with an icy light, like blue flames of war burning fiercely, seemingly able to pierce through the endless darkness.
Suddenly, a sharp whistling sound came from Hua Jie's direction. She and her companion launched a simultaneous attack on Zhui Ming's vital points. Two daggers struck Zhui Ming like lightning. Zhui Ming was startled. He dodged Hua Jie's attack, almost brushing past her body, and simultaneously swung his dagger back, accurately stabbing towards the man's throat.
However, at that moment, Sister Hua suddenly attacked from the side, her dagger aimed directly at Zhui Ming's heart.
Zhui Ming's expression tightened, and he immediately sheathed his sword to meet the attack. The two daggers collided in mid-air, producing a piercing screeching sound and sparks flying.
After the first strike, both sides retreated two steps, and the air was thick with the smell of gunpowder.
Zhuiming frowned. He realized that the two were working together far too well, especially in the darkness and in such a confined space. Their attacks were like a relentless, all-pervasive storm, making it difficult for Zhuiming to find a way in between them.
Zhuiming knew he couldn't remain in this passive position indefinitely. Otherwise, if things continued like this, his stamina would eventually be exhausted by the two of them.
Just then, Chuanliu's clear voice came from the back of the room, "Hey! I'm here!"
The two assassins reacted immediately, their eyes turning in the direction from which the sound came.
Sister Hua smirked and shouted into the darkness, "Little girl, don't waste your energy. We'll come looking for you once we've dealt with your man."
Chuanliu showed no fear whatsoever. Instead, he struck up a conversation with Sister Hua, saying, "I have no grudge against you, so why do you insist on taking my life?"
Sister Hua said coldly, "Don't blame us. Blame yourself for messing with the wrong person."
Chuanliu chuckled lightly, seemingly unconcerned about the crisis before him. "Since you know who I am, you should know that I am fully capable of paying double whatever they offer."
Sister Hua laughed, a hint of sarcasm in her voice, "Don't be naive, little sister! There are countless assassins in the 'Dark Gate.' Even if we don't take this job, plenty of others are eyeing it. Are you planning to pay double to everyone?"
A sly glint flashed in Chuanliu's eyes as she countered, "And what about you two? Aren't you worried that someone might betray you halfway through, leading to an unfair split of the profits?"
Sister Hua laughed even harder, "Hahaha, little sister, your cultivation is not yet up to par, so don't try to sow discord here. We'll settle our own business after I kill you."
As she spoke, Sister Hua and her accomplices launched another attack on Zhui Ming.
"Wait a moment!"
Chuanliu quickly spoke again, interrupting their fight, "Isn't your 'Dark Gate' only allowed to send one assassin per target at a time? How can you two cooperate? Even if you die, at least let me die knowing why! Who exactly are you two?"
Sister Hua parried Zhui Ming's attack and said, "Little sister, you have so many questions! Doesn't your Cube City pride itself on being smart? You'll have plenty of time to think about this after you die."
At this moment, seeing that Zhui Ming was fully focused on fighting with Hua Jie, Hua Jie's accomplice seized the opportunity, suddenly raised his foot, and kicked Zhui Ming with all his might.
Caught off guard, Zhuiming staggered from the kick, briefly losing his balance and crashing heavily into the shelf behind him. Items scattered across the floor with a chaotic clatter.
"Wait a little longer!"
The sound of flowing water came again.
Everyone could sense that Chuanliu's voice had moved from the left side of the last row to the right side, but they didn't pay attention to this minor detail.
Sister Hua said impatiently, "What now? Little girl, if you want to die before your lover, I don't mind sending you on your way first."
The girl's voice was light and crisp, as if she were chatting casually, and she asked out of the blue, "Do you guys know Wu Bai?"
"What?"
"What Wu Bai?"
Hua Jie's voice was full of doubt, wondering why Chuan Liu would suddenly say such a thing.
Immediately afterwards, the girl started a countdown.
"Five, four, three, two..."
"What the hell are you saying...?"
Sister Hua and her accomplices stared intently in the direction from which the girl's voice came. Before Sister Hua could finish speaking, the girl's countdown was already over.
"one!"
As the last number was counted, the thick darkness in the basement was instantly torn apart. A beam of light, like the dawn breaking, suddenly illuminated the entire space.
After nearly two hours of darkness, this sudden brightness was particularly dazzling, like the blazing sun of daytime shining directly into a deep cave, leaving no place for darkness to hide.
The sudden bright light blinded Sister Hua and her accomplices, causing a stinging sensation in their eyes. They instinctively closed their eyes, trying to block out the intense light.
The reason Chuanliu stayed in the back row was not because it was the furthest from the assassin, but because she had discovered the switch for the basement lights when she first started exploring.
She still remembers that when the hotel owner came out of the basement yesterday, the basement lights were so bright that they had to squint even at the entrance of the cave.
What's more, they are currently in a basement.
When Chuanliu mentioned the name that never lip-synced, Zhuiming keenly grasped the girl's intention.
So I've closed your eyes for now...
He quickly took action ahead of the countdown, closing his eyes and lowering his head to minimize the impact of the bright light on his vision.
When the lights suddenly came on, Zhuiming had already adapted to the light much faster.
