Chapter 309 The Conspiracy of Plum Blossom City

Having dealt with the corpses many times, Chuanliu quickly made a judgment and said to Susan, "We must stab them in the heart or cut off their heads, otherwise the corpses will attack endlessly."

Upon hearing this, Susan frowned and immediately gave instructions to her subordinates.

Fortunately, there was only one zombie. Surrounded by numerous security guards, the walking corpse monster was completely subdued and fell into a pool of blood.

Susan walked downstairs, her gaze falling on the lifeless body on the ground.

The uniform the corpse was wearing was clearly standard equipment for casino security. She asked Wang Shuo, who was in charge of the security team, "What's going on here?"

Wang Shuo's expression was equally grave. "Our people have just conducted a search and confirmed that no one entered the casino without permission before this corpse was discovered."

Susan's brow furrowed even more: "Then why is it wearing our uniform?"

Wang Shuo crouched down, carefully examining the face distorted by mutation, trying to find answers, but ultimately could only shake his head in frustration. He then turned to the security personnel around him and asked, "Does anyone know him?"

Everyone shook their heads.

A hesitant voice rang out from the crowd, tinged with uncertainty: "I remember... he was transferred from the red-light district just a couple of days ago."

With the hint, everyone's memories were awakened, and they all confirmed the identity of the corpse.

"So, this corpse is actually one of our own?"

Upon hearing this, Susan's eyes flashed with disbelief and shock. "But how could he suddenly mutate?"

Just as everyone was still confused, Chuanliu's voice broke the silence, "Excuse me, who was the first to notice the abnormality of this corpse?"

Within the security team, everyone's gaze turned to Susan, seemingly awaiting her approval.

After Susan nodded slightly, a security guard mustered up his courage and stepped forward.

"It's me." His voice was slightly weak, but still firm.

As he answered, everyone noticed the horrifying wound on his arm. The bright red blood had already congealed, but there were still traces of biting around the wound. A piece of flesh had been torn off, which was particularly gruesome. It was obviously the result of the corpse man's frenzied attack.

"Where did you find the problem?" Chuanliu continued to press.

The security guard swallowed hard, trying to calm his fear, and recalled: "At the time, I was using the restroom when this corpse suddenly came out of a stall. I thought it was also there to relieve itself, so I casually greeted it."

Before I could finish speaking, it pounced on me. It was incredibly strong, as if it wanted to tear me in two. Luckily, I reacted quickly enough, broke free, and ran away.

As he recalled this, Susan realized something was wrong and immediately led a group to that toilet for a thorough search.

When the search reached that cubicle, Wang Shuo, with his sharp eyes, noticed something unusual in the trash can.

He carefully picked up a stained needle with tweezers and held it up to the crowd.

On the needle tip, dried human bloodstains were clearly visible, while inside the syringe, a few drops of whitish liquid could be faintly seen.

This is the key reason why the security guard mutated into a zombie.

Susan took the needle and examined it carefully, her expression growing increasingly serious.

Chuanliu's thoughts instantly returned to Plum Blossom City. She had witnessed firsthand at Hou Yifan's place how a group of people gradually went mad after eating food laced with drugs. In the short few minutes that followed, when she turned away from her seat under the pretext of going to the restroom, the drugs took effect, and they gradually lost their humanity.

Now, this evil force is stirring again within the Red Peach Casino, and its power seems even more intense than before, with an astonishing speed of onset.

She looked around and saw that all the security personnel looked tense, their weapons gripped tightly. The injured security guard was ashen-faced, his eyes filled with lingering fear.

He stared at the needle, terrified that he too would end up looking like that inhuman, ghostly creature.

This event, occurring in the heart of the City of Hearts, is no coincidence.

The City of Plum Blossoms is clearly plotting a much larger conspiracy.

They not only lured countless zombies to the outskirts of various cities as the vanguard of their attacks, but also infiltrated the interior of the cities with dark power.

This means that, in addition to the existing zombies that have been intercepted, Plum Blossom City is still continuously producing zombies.

More time bombs are lurking among the crowd, waiting to be detonated.

Susan knew she wouldn't be able to sleep again that night.

She disregarded Chuanliu, a guest in the casino, and immediately ordered the Red Peach Casino to be sealed off and every guest to be checked. However, the result was destined to disappoint her; the culprit had already taken advantage of the chaos caused by the appearance of the corpses to escape from the casino.

Although it was just a corpse, its appearance was enough to attract everyone's attention.

Susan immediately reported to senior management and urgently discussed contingency plans.

A busy night.

The next day, Chuanliu didn't even see Susan before he got in his car and headed towards Cube City.

As she crossed the cordon of the City of Hearts, she was met with complete silence.

The once bustling roads connecting the City of Squares and the City of Hearts are now eerily deserted; even in broad daylight, it is difficult to find any pedestrians.

Chuanliu stepped on the gas, and the vehicle accelerated forward, intending to escape this oppressive atmosphere as soon as possible.

However, in this eerily quiet atmosphere, a scene by the roadside suddenly caught her eye—two forces were fiercely clashing, breaking the surrounding tranquility.

Upon closer inspection, a dozen or so tattered corpses were confronting three humans dressed in identical Chinese martial arts uniforms and wielding long swords.

Due to the overwhelming numerical disparity, although the three humans were able to cope, they gradually showed signs of being overwhelmed, and the battle situation became extremely unfavorable for them.

Chuanliu immediately recognized the three men's attire; they were members of the "Black Spade 10" team under Wu Fangming's command.

She glanced at the supplies in the car, then sped off in the direction of the fight.

The three team members, who were already at their limit, gritted their teeth and fought back, engaging in a desperate struggle against the swarming zombies, their eyes revealing a resolute determination.

Just when life and death were at stake, the roar of an engine, growing louder as it approached, was like heavenly music, piercing through the clamor of the battlefield and bringing them a glimmer of hope.

Immediately afterwards, a car, like a wild horse, charged straight into the battle with an unstoppable momentum, its target being the ferocious zombies.

With a deafening crash, several corpses at the front were violently struck by the front of the vehicle and thrown into the air, finally falling heavily to the ground.

The car suddenly turned, completing a precise drift and instantly creating a temporarily safe clearing in the chaotic battlefield.

As the smoke cleared, a young girl could be seen waving her arms through the half-open car window, shouting to the three men: "Get in the car!"
