Chapter 64 "Golden Diamond"

"this……"

A hint of difficulty flashed in Wu Fangming's eyes.

He knew that in this dog-eat-dog world, strength represented everything.

Only those with real strength can gain cooperation and alliances, and Ah Jiao Xiong has indeed not demonstrated any value.

For the team, adding such a person can only do more harm than good.

However, precisely because of this, given Xiong Ajiao's abilities, if she were to ignore him, he would likely have a hard time surviving.

He was, after all, a weak man...

This left the usually soft-hearted Wu Fangming at a loss, and he looked at his two teammates.

Chuanliu had always known that Wu Fangming was a kind and soft-hearted person. She knew this from the first day she arrived on the island, otherwise she wouldn't have taken advantage of this weakness of his many times later.

Therefore, she did not experience much emotional fluctuation.

She watched the two of them quietly, remaining silent after Xiong Ajiao spoke.

Zhuiming remained leaning against the pillar, looking on with an expression of anticipation.

Their attitudes are already very clear.

—Whether you bring him or not is up to you; neither of us will bring him.

Looking at Xiong Ajiao, who was covered in mud, Wu Fangming asked:

"Our purpose in coming here is to enter the main city of Plum Blossom City. Would you like to come back with us?"

The answer is obvious.

Xiong Ajiao shook her head desperately. She had finally escaped, how could she possibly go back to that place?

The former then asked, "How long is it from here to the main city?"

After recalling for a moment, Xiong Ajiao said, "It took me about 3 hours to get here."

In other words, there is a high probability that you will not encounter any danger after daybreak.

Wu Fangming's face darkened; he still couldn't ignore a living, breathing human being.

After pondering for a long time, the man raised his head and looked at the flowing river:

"I'll take him away at daybreak. You and Zhuiming continue what you need to do."

This is the least likely way to delay your trip.

Chuanliu nodded; she wasn't surprised by Wu Fangming's decision.

A night of light sleep.

As the sun rose in the east, the four woke up early and prepared to set off.

Wu Fangming gave Chuan Liu a thousand instructions and gave him a brief moment of relief before leading Xiong Ajiao toward the border of Plum Blossom City.

Watching the two figures disappear into the distance, Zhuiming crossed his arms and smiled:

"I never expected that there would be such a kind-hearted person on Paradise Island."

"At least it's something we don't have, isn't it?"

Chuanliu lowered his eyes, lost in thought.

Zhui Ming remained noncommittal. "If the museum were on fire, he would probably save the cat without hesitation, right? I never expected him to be such a person who cherishes life so much. How did he become a mercenary?"

Chuanliu: "If you disregard all life, what's the difference between you and a serial killer?"

"You're right, but if he weren't this strong, would he still have these thoughts?"

Zhuiming put his arm around the girl's shoulder, but she immediately slapped it off.

"But he's strong enough, isn't he?"

As they talked, the two walked deeper into the city of plum blossoms.

Passing through the dense jungle felt like stepping into an unknown world, where the scenery suddenly opened up before us.

Standing atop the high cliff, one can see a giant inverted pyramid structure standing alone by the sea, exuding an indescribable eerie atmosphere.

The building was painted entirely with gold paint, but it has become somewhat mottled from years of exposure to the wind and sun.

Under the sunlight, this "inverted pyramid" gleams with an unsettling light, like a cursed golden diamond, constantly revealing the past lives of its inhabitants.

The inverted shape is both beautiful and bizarre, with each level clearly separated as if hiding a secret, while the sturdy railings outside the building are like a cage imprisoning some unknown danger, preventing anything outside from getting close.

Outside the building, bodyguards stood expressionless, their eyes vacant and cold.

There were also several people dragging the corpses of the zombies, presumably cleaning up the battlefield from last night.

The small houses built around the railing resemble carelessly discarded toys, radiating outwards from the central "golden diamond." The closer to the land on the cliff side, the sparser the houses become.

There was an eerie quality to the otherwise orderly arrangement.

The entire complex seemed like a cursed territory, with a suffocating sense of oppression permeating the air.

The "golden diamond" resembles a queen bee, nourished by countless wasps, residing deep within the hive and absorbing a continuous stream of energy.

The sea breeze carried a salty, briny scent, and the sound of the waves, like soft groans and cries, enveloped the city in an irresistible magic.

Zhui Ming slowly spoke, "Although Plum Blossom City covers the largest area, its true core is actually the place you are looking at now."

Pointing to the "golden diamond," Chuanliu asked, "Where do the higher-ups of Plum Blossom City live?"

The former shook his head. "No, all the official residents live there; only this building can be called the 'main city' of Plum Blossom City."

In other words, the people living in these small houses outside are all abandoned.

They are constantly under attack from the zombies, and they themselves could even turn into zombies at any moment...

The atmosphere of Plum Blossom City was even more ruthless and cruel than Chuanliu had imagined, she took a deep breath.

Seeing Chuanliu's solemn expression, Zhuiming raised an eyebrow and said smugly:

"Now you know how important I am, right?"

The girl ignored him and continued walking towards the main city.

As you approach the main city, you'll gradually see some normal humans, but they all seem to be quiet and reserved.

The residents here wrap themselves up tightly to avoid touching others, and will hurriedly leave if they sense someone approaching.

Every household had its doors tightly shut, and the walls and windows were built to be extremely sturdy.

The two quickly arrived at the fence of the "main city".

Just then, several neatly dressed gatekeepers noticed their arrival.

They looked wary, gripping their spiked clubs tightly, and quickly approached the two men.

"Stop! Don't come any closer!"

One of the gatekeepers shouted sternly.

Another gatekeeper followed closely behind, raising his spiked club and slamming it against the fence as a warning:

"Don't come any closer! Take another step and we'll get rough!"

Zhuiming had put on a black mask again at some point. He lowered his brow and said coldly:

"We're here to find the Flower Butterfly. Please inform them."

The gatekeeper sneered, "Do you think you can just see our Fourth Master Hua whenever you want? Go away, go back to where you came from, don't waste our time!"

Zhui Ming stared into the man's eyes, and a terrifying killing intent instantly swept over him, causing the man to involuntarily take a step back.

“Tell the butterfly that he still owes me a life, and he will know who I am.”

The gatekeeper glanced at him and said, "You, you wait here."
