Two figures were locked in a fierce struggle in the narrow alley, like a tiger and a leopard.
Under the intense sunlight, the shadows of the two figures were reflected, and the clash of swords made the fight seem even more tense and fierce.
The man was dressed entirely in black, his movements swift and ruthless. He carried a short knife, each strike aimed straight for vital points, and every kick was as fierce as a storm.
His gaze was cold and resolute, like a leopard hunting its prey, staring intently at it and giving it no chance to breathe.
The other person was wearing light-colored sportswear, and his large muscles looked as strong as if they were about to explode.
Although his movements weren't as swift as the man in black, every step was steady and each move exquisite. His eyes revealed a calm and composed demeanor, as if he had already seen through the opponent's attack and was simply waiting for his opportunity.
Suddenly, the man in black leaped up using the wall as leverage, his sharp, cold light piercing towards the other man's chest.
But the latter was prepared; he subtly shifted his body to the side and dodged the heavy blow. Immediately afterward, he struck the man in black in the chest with a palm strike.
The man in black felt a tremendous force coming from his chest, and he involuntarily took a few steps back.
Seizing the opportunity, the man leaped up and kicked at the man in black like a sharp sword.
Although the man in black reacted quickly, it was too late to dodge, and he could only grit his teeth and face him head-on.
With a loud bang, the two figures intertwined again before quickly separating.
The man in black staggered back a few steps.
The sounds of their fight echoed through the quiet alley, accompanied by the clatter of footsteps and the tearing of clothes.
Adhering to the principle of not joining in the fun and not causing trouble, Chuanliu did not intend to linger here.
She buried her face in her hoodie, trying to minimize her presence, and hurried through the alley.
Suddenly, she heard one of them question the other:
"Who are you? Why are you here?"
"You don't even know who I am, so why should I answer this question? And who are you?"
The man in black countered with a wary tone.
Two familiar voices made Chuanliu stop in her tracks. She leaned against the wall at the alley entrance and listened quietly.
"You bastard, why should I tell you?"
The former cursed, taking a deep breath, as if the fight had injured him.
The man in black wiped the blood from the corner of his mouth and snorted coldly.
"I live right here."
The other person clearly didn't believe him. "You bastard, you never tell the truth. I know the owner of this house, but I've never heard her mention you."
The man in black seemed somewhat wary of the other party, and composed himself before saying, "I've lived here for so long, and I've never heard of anyone named you."
The other person twisted his neck, clenched his wrist, and said, "It's okay, if you don't tell the truth, I'll beat you until you do!"
The two pretended to fight again.
"stop!"
The girl's voice appeared at just the right moment, interrupting their actions.
The man dressed in black was none other than Chasing Life, who was staying at the Kawanyu family's residence.
Zhui Ming's mask was ripped off and fell to the ground, bloodstains were on the corner of his mouth, and his eyes lit up the moment he saw the woman.
The man wearing a light-colored sweatshirt was none other than Wu Fangming, whom they hadn't seen for many days.
Compared to Zhui Ming, Wu Fangming's injuries were much lighter.
The man's clothes were ripped open by the dagger, but there was no blood; he only suffered a minor injury to his arm.
"Girl!"
Wu Fangming's murderous expression instantly changed.
The woman's expression changed so quickly that Zhuiming's eyes widened. He looked at her in confusion, as if asking: Who is this?
Chuanliu, beaming with delight, jogged over to greet him.
"Brother Fang Ming, what brings you here?"
Wu Fangming chuckled, "Didn't I tell you? Things over there were pretty much resolved, so I came over here."
Then, his expression changed, and he nodded suspiciously in the direction of Zhui Ming.
"Hey girl, do you know this guy?"
Chuanliu nodded apologetically, "I haven't had a chance to tell you yet, but he's my friend and is currently staying with me."
Wu Fangming remained wary, asking Zhui Ming like a patriarch:
"What's your name? How old are you? What do you do?"
After the recent exchange and hearing Chuanliu call the man's name, the man's identity, Zhuiming, has been basically confirmed.
He put on a smiling face, all traces of his previous murderous intent gone. "Brother Fang Ming, right? Hello, hello. I've often heard Chuanliu mention you. Since you're Chuanliu's elder, then you're my elder too."
Wu Fangming felt something was off about that sentence, but the man's subsequent self-introduction caught his attention.
"I am '8 of Spades'—Chasing Life, it's a pleasure to meet you."
Wu Fangming was taken aback at first, but quickly realized what was happening.
No wonder he could fight me to a standstill, and even managed to injure me. He really is from Spade City.
In his days-long struggle against Lei Laojiu, he also investigated the official residents of Spade City. The assassin, Chasing Life, was a well-known figure in Spade City and even Paradise Island.
Legend has it that few people have seen Zhui Ming's true face, and unexpectedly, he looks like a young scholar.
Wu Fangming also politely introduced himself.
Judging from their reactions, Chuanliu roughly understood what had happened.
It is estimated that Wu Fangming, who was looking for him, encountered Zhui Ming, who was also on his way home, and assumed that Zhui Ming had ulterior motives, which led to the fight.
Back at the villa.
Chuanliu wanted to inquire about Wu Fangming's recent situation, but saw that Zhuiming was standing very naturally to the side, showing no intention of leaving.
She coughed lightly twice and gestured to Zhui Ming to leave.
Unexpectedly, the latter shamelessly sat down, appearing as a quiet listener.
Wu Fangming also noticed Zhui Ming's actions and felt that something was off about the atmosphere.
Chuanliu Chaozhui rolled his eyes. "You, a 'Spade 8,' can't you have any self-awareness?"
Zhuiming pouted, looking disappointed. "Fine, I'm superfluous. I'll leave, I'll leave, okay?"
Watching Zhui Ming leave, Wu Fangming scratched his head. "Little sister, what about your little brother...?"
"Ignore him. Fang Ming, have you resolved your issues with Lei Lao Jiu?"
Based on the previous battle between "9" and "10" in the City of Spades, the struggle between "9" Lei Laojiu and "10" Wu Fangming shouldn't be resolved so easily.
Wu Fangming shook his head and briefly recounted the events of the past few days to Chuanliu.
"...We've reached a balance of power now. I've already spoken to my family, and we won't be ambushed like last time."
"So you mean that if Lei Laojiu activates the Judgment Bell, he is destined to fail?"
Chuanliu immediately grasped the key point.
