Chapter 325 A Talkative Nature

A group of figures quietly slipped out of the city gate of Plum Blossom City. Taking advantage of the fact that it was just dawn and no one was paying attention, they moved through the deserted streets, heading straight for a nearby house.

Immediately afterwards, they brought out a large group of people from the house.

Upon closer inspection, the group of people were dressed respectably, but their hands and feet were bound by heavy iron chains, and they moved forward one after another.

The man at the front of the group had a cold expression and held an object in his hand that was not clearly visible, as if he could control the minds of the people behind him.

Every time he waved his hand, the eyes of the group behind him would follow his hand back and forth.

Several people chained up tried to run forward and grab what was in the man's hands, but because their limbs were connected to others, they fell heavily to the ground.

Meanwhile, the other accomplices, who had just emerged from the main city, acted like overseers, wielding whips and occasionally striking the prisoners. The prisoners, however, seemed impervious to pain, remaining silent throughout, simply getting up obediently and continuing to look ahead.

"They are escorting a new batch of corpses to another city."

A man's voice sounded behind Chuanliu, his tone serious as he explained the scene before them.

Upon hearing this, Chuanliu frowned slightly and asked in confusion, "Why can these corpses obey that person?"

The zombies she had seen before, even if they retained some sense, would not have been as obedient as the ones before her.

The man, who had once been the leader, naturally knew what was going on, and replied, "This is the effect of a drug developed by the higher-ups. By precisely controlling the dosage, these zombies will not only become dependent on the drug, but will also retain some of their sanity. The injection is the new drug that's been circulating in the outside world."

In other words, the different symptoms are actually due to different dosages.

He continued, "Upon arrival at their destination, they will further activate the toxins within these potential corpses, exploiting their craving for drugs. With the help of drugs, they can easily manipulate these powers for their own use."

Watching the procession of corpses recede into the distance, the man analyzed, "This shouldn't be all of them on this mission. As far as I know, there are at least ten sites in Plum Blossom City where corpses are stored."

Ten or even more!

Chuanliu nodded silently, then looked directly at the man behind him and asked, "How do you know so much?"

The man avoided her gaze with some shame. "I... am atoning for my sins."

Some things are best left unsaid, and Chuanliu didn't pursue the matter further.

The man didn't continue the topic, but instead told his team, "Let's finish this quickly and try to take care of these unactivated zombies before they do."

"Um!"

The team members responded in unison.

At the main gate of Meihua City, as morning approached, a few people gradually gathered, hurrying through the open fence. After a thorough security check by the guards, they were allowed to enter.

Next, they carefully took out their identity cards, which they had obtained from various channels, and inserted them into the verification machine next to them. With a "ding" sound, the machine instantly sucked the identity cards into it.

After completing a series of complex verification procedures, the guard finally allowed them to pass.

The elevator stopped at the corresponding floor based on the card number just read by the machine.

Among the guards was a familiar face from Chuanliu – Brother Stick.

The man with the stick looked much more weathered than when they last met. He skillfully directed his men, his eyes scanning all sides of the fence, always on guard against the arrival of the zombies.

Just as a newcomer was about to step through the iron gate, a sudden roar from a corpse shattered the silence.

Besides the main gate, traces of corpses appeared in other directions.

Brother Gun is very familiar with this voice that has "accompanied" him through countless nights.

"C!"

He cursed and quickly gave the order: "Seal off the gate, quick! These beasts dare to show themselves in broad daylight!"

A man's voice came from the mouth of the newcomer who had just entered through the door: "Hey, hey! I have an ID card! Let me in first!"

As he spoke, the "man" quickly raised a playing card high and waved it around. His baseball cap concealed his expression, but it couldn't hide the man's anxious tone.

The "man" stepped forward a few more times and blocked the doorway, preventing the guards from closing it.

Before he could even curse him, Brother Stick pulled him straight into the safe zone.

Then the two guards immediately closed the heavy gate.

The group dispersed, each fighting off the zombies surging in from different directions. Stick Brother stood where the zombies were most numerous, using his spear to stab those who had reached their hands over the railings.

Outside the main city, the eight-person squad quietly watched everything unfold before them.

One of the team members said with a hint of worry, "Will that girl be able to sneak in?"

"This is her own choice, and this is all we can do to help." The captain lowered his eyes.

To be honest, the answer to the questions asked by his teammates was no in his mind.

Hopefully, that girl can at least find her brother.

He thought so.

Seeing that the guards had been dispersed, the eight-man squad's "repayment" was complete. They didn't linger, but instead headed towards the group of prisoners they had seen that morning.

There are more important things waiting for them to accomplish.

Meanwhile, most of the guards in the main city were lured away by the zombies. Almost no one paid any attention to the "man in the baseball cap" who had just entered the safe zone with them.

In particular, this "man" kept howling and yelling, which was very annoying.

The man screamed, "Aaaaaaah! Corpse people! The corpse people are coming! I'm going to die, I'm going to die, I'm going to die!"

The guards, already in a flurry of activity, snapped, "Shut the hell up! Stop your babbling!"

The "man" ignored him and continued yelling, "Help! Someone help me! I... I'm from Plum Blossom City! Come and protect me!"

The "man's" cries were almost louder than the corpses' cries, which was really affecting the mood of the guards.

Brother Stick couldn't take it anymore. As he passed the man, he kicked him into the main city and said to the two guards inside the building, "Check him carefully before letting him through!"

The "man" rubbed his backside and muttered a complaint, "I'm a registered resident, how can they treat me like this..."

Two guards in the lobby said mockingly, "You? A registered resident? We've seen plenty of people like you who got their ID cards through shady means these past few days."

The man, seemingly unconvinced, said while undergoing security checks, "What's wrong with that? That's how it's supposed to be in our main city. What business is it of yours where I got it? Rules are rules, and that's what makes it a system. Are you going to break the rules set by the leadership?"
