Chapter 133 How about I take you home first?

Chapter 133 How about I take you home first?

"Help!" Lin Xi cried out for help, "I don't know him, help!"

"You're such a disobedient child," the middle-aged man said, holding Lin Xi tightly. "You're making a scene because we won't let you go to the concert. Do you know how much money we've spent on tutoring over the years to get you into university? More than 500,000 yuan! And now you want to spend so much on concert tickets? Are you trying to kill your mother and me?!"

The middle-aged man spoke with heartfelt sincerity, and the onlookers sighed, sympathizing with him. "Some young people these days just don't know how to care for their parents. It's truly disheartening."

"Little girl, go home with your dad. Adults have it tough."

"I really don't know him, he's not my dad at all," Lin Xi tried to explain, gripping the car door tightly with one hand. "Help! He's a human trafficker!"

"Can anyone help me out?" the middle-aged man said. "I don't want to push my own daughter too hard. Can someone help me get her into the car? Her mother is so worried at home."

Lin Xi was pale and her hands and feet were ice cold. Someone came over and pried her fingers apart one by one, and kindly helped her into the car.

"Help!" Lin Xi didn't want to give up and shouted at the top of her lungs, hoping that someone would notice and save her.

"Lin Xi?" Suddenly a figure ran over, grabbed Lin Xi's wrist the instant the car door closed, and forcefully pulled her out of the car.

"Xiao Yang?" Lin Xi didn't care about anything else at this moment and hid behind Xiao Yang.

Xiao Yang pointed at the men in the car and said, "Who are you? Lin Xi has no parents."

The car door closed from the inside, and the car quickly started and drove away.

Those around were shocked. "My God, it really is a human trafficker. This is terrifying."

The person who had just helped them was nowhere to be found.

"Lin Xi, are you alright?" Xiao Yang asked with concern.

Lin Xi felt weak and powerless, squatting on the ground panting heavily, large beads of sweat dripping onto the ground.

After a long while, some color returned to her face. Lin Xi slowly stood up, her wrist still being held by Xiao Yang. She pulled her hand back and said, "Thank you, Xiao Yang. I was almost kidnapped."

"I'm so glad I came here today," Xiao Yang said, handing Lin Xi a tissue. "Wipe your sweat first. You must have been terrified."

Lin Xi took the tissue and wiped the sweat from her forehead. She nodded, "I didn't expect to encounter something like this."

Xiao Yang looked around and pointed to a coffee shop not far away, saying, "How about we sit in the coffee shop for a while? I'll treat you to coffee."

Having just been rescued from human traffickers by Xiao Yang, Lin Xi didn't refuse him, saying, "Okay, it's on you."

The two walked to the coffee shop and found a seat at a nearby table.

Lin Xi ordered a latte and a small dessert, while Xiao Yang only ordered an iced Americano.

"Lin Xi, where are you going with such a big bag?" Xiao Yang asked curiously.

Lin Xi glanced at the backpack next to her. Today was unlucky. If she hadn't been carrying such a big bag, passersby wouldn't have mistaken her for someone who had run away from home.

"I'm going to the hospital to be with my grandma; she's hospitalized," Lin Xi explained.

"Is your grandmother very ill?" Xiao Yang asked with concern.

Lin Xi nodded. "I had surgery for a brain hemorrhage."

“I remember it’s just you and your grandma in your family, right?” As the class monitor in high school, Xiao Yang knew about the family situations of the other students. “So, who takes care of your grandma when you’re in class?”

"I've hired a caregiver." Lin Xi didn't want to say too much. If Xiao Yang hadn't saved her today, she wouldn't have wanted to say another word to him.

Xiao Yang lowered his eyes, concealing the sinister look within them.

“You must be in a hurry to get to the hospital,” Xiao Yang looked up again, his eyes softening. “I’ll go pay the bill.”

“No need for you,” Lin Xi stood up first, “I’ll pay.”

Lin Xi went to pay the bill, and Xiao Yang took out a small white pill and quickly threw it into Lin Xi's coffee. He stirred it with a coffee spoon, and the pill quickly dissolved into the coffee.

After paying the bill, Lin Xi returned and said, "We can go now."

"Why don't we finish it?" Xiao Yang pointed to the desserts and coffee Lin Xi had left. "The food here isn't cheap, it would be a waste to leave it."

Lin Xi didn't think much of it; she hated wasting food, so she sat down and finished her dessert.

Xiao Yang finished his iced Americano and waited quietly for Lin Xi.

After finishing her dessert, Lin Xi stirred her coffee with a spoon and drank the rest of her latte.

"Let's go." Lin Xi slung her backpack over her shoulder. She always felt awkward around Xiao Yang and wanted to escape as soon as possible.

Xiao Yang followed Lin Xi unhurriedly, saying, "Let me take you to the hospital, so those people don't get away."

Lin Xi froze. She hadn't really thought that far ahead. Xiao Yang's reminder made her hesitant to leave.

Holding her phone, she wondered who to ask for help. Song Xu and she were having a cold war, Tian Tian wasn't around, Jiang Ran was busy, and asking Song Chen wasn't appropriate. Should she really ask Xiao Yang to take her to the hospital?

"Why did you stop?" Xiao Yang asked. "I remember there's a bus stop not far ahead."

"Otherwise, I'd better not go to the hospital today," Lin Xi said, somewhat superstitious. She thought it might not be a good day to go out and that she should stay in her apartment. "I'm going home."

"Have you moved?" Xiao Yang asked, puzzled, as she was heading in the opposite direction.

Lin Xi glanced at him. Although he had saved her today, she couldn't repay his kindness by offering herself to him. "I live with my boyfriend in the apartment up ahead."

"I'm really grateful to you today. I'll talk to my boyfriend and we'll treat you to dinner another day."

Xiao Yang's lips were upturned, but there was no smile in his eyes. "Then I'll walk you to your apartment door, otherwise I won't feel at ease."

Lin Xi didn't refuse again; she could tolerate the five-minute walk.

On the way back, Lin Xi walked slower and slower. She was very sleepy, and her eyelids felt as heavy as a thousand pounds. What was wrong with her?

"Lin Xi, what's wrong?" Xiao Yang held Lin Xi's arm. "Are you feeling unwell?"

"I'm fine," Lin Xi said, using her strong will to stay awake. They were almost at the apartment, and she had to hold on. "We're almost there."

Lin Xi wanted to walk quickly, but Xiao Yang slowed down. He half-embraced Lin Xi and thoughtfully took off her backpack and carried it on his own back.

"Lin Xi, which apartment is it?" Xiao Yang asked, but his eyes were fixed on Lin Xi's reaction.

Lin Xi raised her arm and pointed to the apartment door twenty meters away, "This is it, Brilliant Sky City Apartment."

"So you live here," Xiao Yang glanced coldly at the apartment door. "We probably won't be allowed in like this. How about I take you to my place first?"

Oh no! Lin Xi could hear Xiao Yang's voice, but she didn't have the strength to speak and leaned against him.
