Chapter 127 I want to meet this man named Song Xu in person.
Bai Tiantian and Jiang Ran kept arguing back and forth, giving Lin Xi a headache.
Lin Xi stood up and separated the two of them. "So what exactly did you betray each other about?"
Based on Lin Xi's understanding of the two women, they don't seem like the type to talk badly about others behind their backs.
When Lin Xi asked this question, Bai Tiantian and Jiang Ran both fell silent.
"Okay, I understand," Lin Xi sighed, looking sad. "You guys chat, I'll go cook."
“Xi Xi,” Jiang Ran said, taking Lin Xi’s hand. “I’ll tell you.”
She glanced at Bai Tiantian and said, "People found out that she wet the bed when she was in elementary school, and they blamed me for it."
Lin Xi blinked, looked at Bai Tiantian, and suppressed a laugh, "Tiantian, how can you be sure that Ranran told the story?"
"No one else knows about this except my mom and her," Bai Tiantian said, blushing. "If she didn't tell me, would my own mother have?"
“Why not?” Jiang Ran said. “Your mother told my mother that our family all knows about this. I just didn’t tell you because I was afraid it would embarrass you.”
"What did you say?" Bai Tiantian raised her voice. "How could my mom say such things?"
“People their age love to gossip,” Jiang Ran sneered. “They talk about other people’s things, and they talk about their own too. You know that, don’t you?”
Bai Tiantian's heart sank. She was starting to believe it. Her mother was prone to making things up; she might have gotten close to some parent and was just making things up.
"Why didn't you say so back then?" Bai Tiantian asked.
"I had already broken off all contact with you by then. You can think whatever you want about what I say," Jiang Ran said indifferently.
"Then why did you break off your friendship?" Lin Xi asked curiously.
Bai Tiantian crossed her arms and rolled her eyes at Jiang Ran, "She wrote a love letter to a boy, but before she could even send it out, it was posted on the blackboard and read aloud by the whole class."
“I only told you about writing the love letter,” Jiang Ran said, her dark face showing no sign of blushing. “You even warned me not to send it out, or I would regret it.”
"But what happened? I didn't send it out, but you stuck it on the blackboard and made the whole class laugh at me for a whole month."
“I’ve already explained to you, I didn’t put it there,” Bai Tiantian said, rubbing her temples speechlessly. “I didn’t let you deliver it because I think that guy has a questionable sexual orientation, and I was afraid you would be heartbroken if you were rejected.”
"As for who put it on the blackboard, I found out later," Bai Tiantian glared at Jiang Ran, "it was that boy's girlfriend. He overheard us talking and, while we were away, he stole the love letter and put it on the blackboard."
"This was revealed by the boy you had a crush on after they broke up the year you graduated from junior high. It's a pity you transferred schools at that time."
"Who is his lover?" Jiang Ran asked through gritted teeth.
“They’re our class’s academic representative,” Bai Tiantian replied. “I noticed the two men were acting too intimately, and I never imagined they were actually gay.”
"Your junior high school life must have been quite colorful," Lin Xi exclaimed, as her junior high and high school life consisted solely of studying.
“You two are so childish,” Lin Xi said with a smile. “It’s not worth breaking up over something so trivial. Luckily, you met again and the conflict was resolved. It was all a misunderstanding.”
Jiang Ran and Bai Tiantian knew that it was impulsive and immature at the time. Their friendship of many years had capsized in an instant. They both wanted to reconcile with each other, but they were too proud to admit it, so it dragged on for four years.
Bai Tiantian's decision to study in Jiangbei was indeed partly due to Jiang Ran. However, she didn't meet Jiang Ran herself, but instead met Jiang Ran's friend, Lin Xi.
Fate is a truly wondrous thing.
Bai Tiantian and Jiang Ran got together and had so much to talk about, sharing all the gossip they had accumulated over the past four years.
Unable to get a word in edgewise, Lin Xi quietly went to the kitchen to cook, glancing at them every now and then.
She didn't feel ignored. She knew they hadn't seen each other for many years and must have a lot to talk about. All she needed to do was quietly stay by their side and cook for them.
Lin Xi prepared six dishes and set them on the table. Then she called to them, "Tian Tian, Ran Ran, come and eat."
“We’re here,” Bai Tiantian said, pulling Jiang Ran toward the restaurant. “Xixi’s cooking is so delicious, I’ve gained two pounds in the last couple of days.”
The two walked to the dining table, where Lin Xi had already prepared the bowls and chopsticks. "Would you like something to drink?"
"How about a little drink?" Bai Tiantian looked at Jiang Ran. "How's your alcohol tolerance?"
"Ranran drove here," Lin Xi reminded her.
"Why are you still driving?" Bai Tiantian grabbed Jiang Ran and wouldn't let go. "Don't leave tonight, let's share a room."
"Ranran, can you not go home?" Lin Xi certainly hoped that Jiang Ran would stay.
“I don’t have to go home, and I can drink alcohol,” Jiang Ran stroked her chin and asked in confusion, “but I want to know whose home this is?”
Jiang Ran knew about Bai Tiantian's family background. They had just agreed to keep quiet and not reveal each other's details. They were just middle-class families.
"Bai Tiantian, you sound like the owner of this house," Jiang Ran glanced at her. "You didn't buy this house, did you?"
“Of course not,” Bai Tiantian immediately shook her head in denial, “How could I possibly afford a house here?”
“Xi Xi is the mistress of this house.” Bai Tiantian smiled and pushed Lin Xi forward.
"Mistress?" Jiang Ran frowned. "Xi Xi, you got married? It can't be that fast. We've only been apart for a month, not a year."
“Don’t listen to Sweetie’s nonsense,” Lin Xi said, her cheeks slightly flushed. “I’m still the nanny for this family.”
"How am I talking nonsense?" Bai Tiantian picked up a piece of shrimp and put it in her mouth. "You two kissed in public, doesn't that mean you're officially a couple?"
"Kissing in public?" Jiang Ran's face darkened further. "Which beast forced a kiss on you?"
Jiang Ran slammed her chopsticks on the table, startling Bai Tiantian.
"Jiang Ran, are you crazy?" Bai Tiantian patted her chest. "Xi Xi is just dating, why are you reacting so strongly?"
Jiang Ran didn't smile at all. "I'm afraid Xixi will be deceived. Xixi is so innocent."
“Actually, Song Xu’s character is not bad,” Bai Tiantian said, swallowing the food in her mouth. “I have observed him specifically. Apart from being a bit possessive, he doesn’t have any major problems.”
“What can someone as love-struck as you possibly see?” Jiang Ran glanced at her sideways. “I want to meet this man named Song Xu for myself.”
“Who’s love-struck?” Bai Tiantian protested. “I’ve never written a love letter to any boy.”
"Bai Tiantian, if you bring this up again, I'll really turn against you," Jiang Ran warned, narrowing her eyes.
"I'm afraid of you..." Bai Tiantian glared at her, "You'll turn on me if you..."
"You two stop arguing," Lin Xi said, covering their mouths with her arms. "I'm very rational when it comes to relationships, so don't worry."
Lin Xi withdrew her hand. "I'll go get the wine!"
