Chapter 186 Grandma, you must stand up for Chenchen!
"Is it Xiaomei, or Xiaoli?" Song Chen blurted out, "Or maybe Xiaoxin, or Xiaogan?"
As soon as Song Chen finished speaking, he heard the person behind him panting like a calf.
He turned around with a smile, lowered his head and kissed Bai Tiantian's lips, "So you're my Tiantian."
"Who are Xiaomei, Xiaoli, Xiaoxin, and Xiaogan?" Bai Tiantian pointed her finger at Song Chen's forehead to keep him away.
“These are Xiaomei and Xiaoli,” Song Chen tapped each of Bai Tiantian’s cheeks, then touched her heart and liver. “These are Xiaoxin and Xiaogan.”
"Little Beauty is my darling," Song Chen picked up Bai Tiantian, "Are you satisfied now?"
"You're quick-witted." Bai Tiantian snorted, then lowered her head to sniff Song Chen. "Such a strong smell of smoke. How many cigarettes have you smoked?"
Song Chen put Bai Tiantian down. "I'm going to take a shower."
Bai Tiantian watched Song Chen walk towards the bathroom and felt that he seemed preoccupied today. Had something unpleasant happened at the Song family home?
She had met Song Chen's parents; they were both reasonable and kind to Song Chen, so it shouldn't be their problem.
It's even less likely that Song Xu would agree; his relationship with Song Chen is closer than that of blood brothers.
The only person who could make Song Chen feel wronged was Old Master Song, who had just returned to China.
Bai Tiantian decided to wait until Song Chen finished showering to find out the truth.
Song Chen quickly came out of the bathroom, his body still smelling of shower gel. He hugged Bai Tiantian and said, "There's no smell of smoke this time, right?"
"Mmm, it smells nice," Bai Tiantian cupped Song Chen's face and asked very seriously, "Chenchen, who made you unhappy today?"
Song Chen raised an eyebrow, "You can tell I'm unhappy?"
“Of course,” Bai Tiantian’s fingers smoothed the furrow between Song Chen’s brows, “You’ve been frowning the whole time, and there’s a faint sadness in your eyes. Is that Grandpa Song?”
Song Chen sighed, "I thought I was pretending very well, but it was discovered so easily."
Bai Tiantian pulled Song Chen to sit on the edge of the bed, "Tell me quickly, what happened today?"
Song Chen patted Bai Tiantian's head and asked, "Tiantian, do you feel wronged marrying me?"
"What are you talking about?!" Bai Tiantian's eyes widened. "Whether it's software or hardware, you're top-notch. How could I feel wronged?"
"You really think so?" Song Chen found a little bit of confidence in Bai Tiantian's praise.
"Of course, I, Bai Tiantian, am a very picky person. Not just anyone can be a man," Bai Tiantian pinched Song Chen's face. "Chenchen, did someone say something about you?"
Song Chen relayed what Grandpa Song had said to Bai Tiantian today: "Tiantian, tomorrow's meeting might be awkward."
"This is outrageous!" Bai Tiantian exclaimed angrily. "Is your grandfather senile? The way he speaks and acts not only shows a lack of respect for you, but it's also disrespectful to me!"
"I am a person, not an object that can be paired with other people at will."
"Sweetie, don't be angry," Song Chen comforted Bai Tiantian. "I will never let you go, even if it means I have to kneel down and kowtow."
"Why are you kneeling and kowtowing?" Bai Tiantian protested. "We are in a free-love relationship. The arranged marriage is just a pretext. If your grandfather makes things difficult for you because of this, then we won't have the arranged marriage. We can just be our own couple."
"Good!" Song Chen smiled. "With a wife like this, what more could a husband ask for?"
...
The next morning, Lin Xi was woken up by Song Xu's antics. She had managed to escape the night, but she couldn't escape Song Xu's energetic morning.
She thought she was having a wet dream, but when she opened her eyes it was real. "Song Xu, what time is it? Why are you awake so early?"
"It's not early," Song Xu kissed her shoulder and put his arm around her from behind. "It's just right to get up after you've finished one session."
Song Xu had timed it perfectly: he got up, took a shower, ate breakfast, and went out. Lin Xi arrived at the classroom on time.
Bai Tiantian saved a seat for her, and Lin Xi ran over and sat down. Actually, even if Bai Tiantian hadn't saved a seat for her, no one would have dared to sit in her seat.
Lin Xi and Xiang Lei became famous overnight for fighting over seats in the courtyard.
Before the teacher arrived, Lin Xi asked, "Sweetie, when are your aunt and uncle arriving? Are you going to pick them up?"
"I'll arrive at noon. Chenchen will pick me up; he's made all the arrangements." Bai Tiantian was in a bad mood today. She wanted to say something more to Lin Xi, but with the teacher arriving, she had to keep quiet for now.
Lin Xi was preoccupied with visiting her mother at her uncle's house that evening, and she kept spacing out during class.
After finally getting through a long lecture, I received a message from Zhou Jingming during the break: "The situation has changed. Come over for dinner another day."
What does this mean? Has something happened to Mom?
Lin Xi wanted to ask clearly, but with Bai Tiantian nearby, she couldn't ask. Besides, she was afraid of disturbing her brothers' important business, so she decided to wait until she got home that night.
Seeing Lin Xi's somewhat disappointed expression, Bai Tiantian asked with concern, "Xi Xi, what's wrong? Who sent you the message?"
“It’s Senior Jiang Yan,” Lin Xi sighed. “She said she has to work overtime tonight and can’t treat me to dinner. We’ll have to do it another day.”
“That’s perfect,” Bai Tiantian laughed. “You’re coming with me tonight.”
"It wouldn't be appropriate for me to go!" Lin Xi shook her head. No one from the Song family had invited her, and it would be too undignified for her to go there rashly.
“It’s appropriate for you to go. I’m not only going to take you, but also Grandma,” Bai Tiantian said angrily. “You are Chenchen’s family. We’re talking about marriage, so you should be there to support Chenchen.”
Lin Xi sensed something was off about Bai Tiantian's words. "Tiantian, what do you mean? Who made my brother suffer?"
Bai Tiantian nodded, and she relayed what Grandpa Song had said yesterday to Lin Xi, "Tell me, was that old man speaking human language?"
No, that's not true. Lin Xi was furious when she heard that. Was Song Xu's grandfather just a troublemaker? Did he have to break up the family?
Based on Old Master Song's attitude towards her brother, Lin Xi could guess that Old Master Song most likely wouldn't agree to her being with Song Xu.
She and Song Xu can put their matter aside for now; they're both still young and can outlast others.
But her brother is different; he's already twenty-five, and his marriage to Tian Tian has to be settled first.
“I’ll go with Grandma. I’ll pick her up from the hospital at noon. I saw her yesterday and she seemed to be in good health. She was discharged and had no problems for half a day.”
Grandma said yesterday that she couldn't let my brother suffer any injustice, and today she gave him the chance, so Grandma will definitely go.
After the morning classes ended, Lin Xi and Bai Tiantian went to the hospital together.
Grandma Lin was quite surprised to see the two of them. "Aren't you two supposed to be at school today? Why did you come together?"
"Grandma!" Bai Tiantian threw herself into Grandma Lin's arms. "You have to stand up for Chenchen!"
