Chapter 114 I Want Him to Be My Brother

Chapter 114 I Want Him to Be My Brother

That day, Song Xu shook off his bodyguards and ran out of the Song family's old house. He originally wanted to go find Chen Yan and Xiao Heng to play, but he saw a handsome and clean-dressed older brother picking up empty bottles on the roadside.

That is, Song Chen back then.

He found it interesting, so he followed behind Song Chen and helped him pick up bottles, throwing each one into Song Chen's bag.

"Where are your parents?" Song Chen asked, seeing that Song Xu had followed him for quite a while and was worried that he might get lost.

Song Xu looked up at Song Chen with a grin, "I'm an orphan, brother, I'll follow you and collect trash from now on."

Song Xu's face was clean, and his clothes were obviously not cheap. Was he a rich orphan? Song Chen rolled his eyes.

This is an affluent area, and even the scrap here is of higher quality than elsewhere. Song Chen often rides his bicycle for two or three hours to come here on weekends to collect trash.

It was midday, and there weren't many people on the street. Song Chen nudged Song Xu, "Go home quickly. Rich young masters like you are the easiest to be kidnapped."

Song Chen just said it casually, hoping to scare Song Xu and make him go home.

But no sooner had he finished speaking than a van stopped in front of them. Two hooded men got out of the van and, without saying a word, picked up Song Xu and carried him into the van.

"Help!" Song Xu grabbed at things haphazardly and ended up grabbing Song Chen's hand.

"They're snatching the child! Help!" Song Chen reacted quickly, gripping Song Xu's hand tightly, trying to pull him back from the two men.

Seeing that things were not going well, the two men dragged Song Chen into the van as well.

After getting into the car, Song Xu hugged Song Chen tightly, calling him "brother".

Song Chen was also scared, but he was several years older than Song Xu and much calmer. He looked warily at the two hooded men and asked, "Are you after money?"

Besides the two men wearing hoods, there was also a driver in the van, whose face was covered except for his eyes.

They were indeed after money. One of the men pulled out a dagger and brandished it, saying, "As long as you behave, we won't hurt you. But if you dare to cry out, we'll cut off a piece of your flesh."

Song Xu kept his mouth shut, not daring to utter a sound, and nestled in Song Chen's arms, trembling all over.

Another man took out a rope and tried to tie the two of them up separately, but Song Chen and Song Xu were tightly embracing each other and couldn't be separated, so he simply tied them together and gagged them.

The van drove for a long time before finally reaching the top of the mountain.

Song Chen and Song Xu were imprisoned in an abandoned temple on the mountain.

The rest of the time is spent waiting, waiting for the two sides to negotiate, and waiting for the handling of Song Xu.

The three men were exhausted and hungry after driving for half a day. They were prepared, as they had brought several days' worth of food and even some alcohol in their van.

They didn't let go of Song Chen and Song Xu, only caring about eating and drinking.

The driver was the most tired. After he finished eating, he went to find a place to take a nap. "I'm going to rest for a while. You two keep an eye on the person."

The remaining two drank for a while longer, and one of them, feeling sleepy, lay down on the ground, saying, "I'll sleep for half an hour. Wake me up in half an hour."

The last person who was awake was eating peanuts, glancing at Song Chen and Song Xu every now and then. When he saw that they had also closed their eyes and fallen asleep, he stretched.

Sleepiness is contagious. Hearing his companion's soft snoring, the person eventually leaned on his head and drifted off to sleep as well.

Song Chen opened his eyes. He shrank back, and the ropes binding him and Song Xu loosened.

When Song Chen tied them up, he was cunning and deliberately tensed his muscles to give Song Xu more space.

Song Chen slowly lowered the rope binding them to the ground, and he carefully led Song Xu past the three men.

The two of them barely dared to breathe, having never been so nervous before. As they approached the temple entrance, Song Xu breathed a sigh of relief, but accidentally kicked a pebble. The pebble flew up and hit the door frame, making a sound.

"Run!" Song Chen grabbed Song Xu and they ran.

The three men were awakened and, finding the two boys missing, chased after them without blaming each other.

Song Xu was still young, and after running for a while, he couldn't run anymore. Song Chen looked back and vaguely saw someone chasing after him. He couldn't stop now.

He could have run away on his own; those people's target was the little boy next to him, but he couldn't do it because his conscience wouldn't allow it.

Unable to carry Song Xu on his back, Song Chen continued running down the mountain.

With one on his back, his running speed slowed down, and he saw that the three men were catching up with him.

"Brother," Song Xu cried, clinging tightly to Song Chen's neck, "They're here! Are we going to die?"

Running like this will definitely get him caught. Song Chen glanced at the hillside beside the winding mountain road. It didn't look too steep, so he had no choice but to take a gamble.

Song Chen hugged Song Xu tightly and said, "Hold me tight, let's roll down from here."

Song Xu did whatever Song Chen said, clinging to Song Chen like a monkey.

Song Chen shielded Song Xu's head with his hands, gritted his teeth, and rolled down the hillside.

The two rolled faster and faster until Song Chen couldn't avoid crashing into a big tree, at which point they stopped.

Song Xu was alright, with only minor scratches on his face and hands. Song Chen, on the other hand, was in a worse state; he hit his head, and blood was flowing down his face.

"Brother, don't die!" Song Xu cried as he wiped the blood off Song Chen's face.

Song Chen also felt that he was not going to live, and his consciousness was fading. He took out a photo from his pocket. It was a photo of the three of them taken a few days ago. He had been carrying it with him all this time so that he could show off to his classmates that he had a beautiful younger sister.

Song Chen handed the photo to Song Xu, saying, "Little brother, if I die and you are still alive, please take care of my family for me. My name is... Lin Chen."

After making his final arrangements, Song Chen fell into a coma.

Song Xu remembered Song Chen's name. He kept the photo close to his body and didn't dare to leave alone, so he stayed by Song Chen's side. Finally, he fell asleep on Song Chen's body.

When Song Qingshi found Song Xu, his heart almost jumped out of his chest. Song Xu was covered in blood and lying on top of a big boy with his eyes closed.

He reached out with trembling hands to check Song Xu's breath; there was life. Song Qingshi's heart calmed down.

"Xiao Xu, Xiao Xu!" he tried calling out twice.

Song Xu was awakened by a familiar voice. When he opened his eyes and saw Song Qing, he burst into tears.

He scrambled to his feet and threw himself into Song Qingshi's arms, crying, "Dad, save my brother! Save my brother!"

Song Qingshi then noticed that the blood on Song Xu's body belonged to the boy lying on the ground. "Who is he?"

“He’s my older brother,” Song Xu knelt down and wiped the blood from Song Chen’s face. “My older brother saved me, and I want him to be my older brother.”

Song Qingshi understood what had happened from Song Xu's rambling words. He checked Song Chen's breathing; it was weak but he was still alive.

He immediately ordered his men, "Call a helicopter to rescue them right now!"
