Chapter 93 Someone is following her
Lin Xi is socially awkward and dreads these kinds of things. The key issue is that she has no special talents; she can only study and nothing else.
She can't exactly give a live recitation, can she?
"No, no, don't be nervous," Cao Jun quickly reassured him. "Those with talents have already registered, and those without talents can just be audience members and provide emotional value."
Lin Xi finally breathed a sigh of relief; Cao Jun was a really good class monitor.
She found a corner to sit down, not wanting to be the center of attention.
Lin Xi wanted to keep a low profile, but her abilities wouldn't allow it. As her classmates arrived one after another, Cao Jun introduced each of them to Lin Xi.
"Lin Xi, this is our Youth League Secretary, Jiang Xuan. You can always ask her for help if you need anything in the future." Cao Jun brought over a short-haired girl wearing glasses.
Jiang Xuan is not tall, has a baby face, and always has a smile on her face from the moment she enters; she is a girl who loves to laugh.
"Hi, Lin Xi, I've heard so much about you," Jiang Xuan said, shaking Lin Xi's hand. "I saw you at the opening ceremony the other day, but unfortunately I didn't have a chance to talk to you. Today I can finally pay my respects to you in person."
"Don't say that," Lin Xi said, embarrassed. Almost everyone who got in was a top student. "I want to find a hole to crawl into."
"Haha, don't squeeze in, or we won't be able to see any pretty girls," Jiang Xuan pulled Lin Xi from the corner to the front door. "Lin Xi, sit here. You're the face of our class."
Jiang Xuan placed her bag on the seat next to Lin Xi, saying, "I'll sit next to you and save you a seat."
She was perfectly content sitting by the door. No need for the class monitor to introduce her; everyone who came in would greet her. There was no way around it; she had caused quite a stir at school these past two days.
Lin Xi's face was stiff from smiling so much; this was even more tiring than being a greeter.
Most people in the class are friendly, but that doesn't mean everyone is; there will always be one or two people who don't like Lin Xi.
Where there are people, there will be competition.
A tall woman walked in and immediately saw Lin Xi sitting by the door. She looked Lin Xi up and down with a cold expression. Lin Xi was about to greet her when the tall woman snorted and walked away.
Lin Xi shut her mouth, somewhat bewildered.
“Her name is Xiang Lei,” Jiang Xuan, who was sitting next to Lin Xi, introduced in a low voice. “She’s usually quite aloof and doesn’t really talk to us girls.”
Lin Xi raised an eyebrow but didn't say anything.
Jiang Xuan continued to complain: "She must think of herself as the class beauty. She ignores most boys, but she only speaks well to Cao Jun because Cao Jun is the undisputed heartthrob of our law school."
"Hehe," Jiang Xuan suddenly chuckled mischievously, "Luckily, we still have you in our class. Whether it's grades or looks, you're better than her. Let's see if she can still pretend in the future."
Lin Xi was speechless. How did she end up being dragged into a competition for no reason? She never intended to compete with anyone. "Xiang Lei does seem quite excellent. I'm still far behind."
“Don’t be modest, you’re the girlfriend of the school heartthrob,” Jiang Xuan said, her eyes shining. “She can’t even handle the heartthrob in our department, look at her.”
Lin Xi looked in the direction Jiang Xuan pointed and saw Xiang Lei talking to Cao Jun. Xiang Lei's smile was shy, her cheeks were slightly flushed, and she didn't dare to look Cao Jun in the eye.
Cao Jun was much calmer, just like usual, very composed.
It turns out that whether one person likes another or not is obvious to outsiders at a glance.
The class meeting began, and Jiang Xuan left her seat to co-host with Cao Jun.
The students displayed a variety of talents, which Lin Xi found fascinating. Jiang Xuan placed some food on a small plate and brought it to Lin Xi, saying, "Lin Xi, these are all for you to eat. The expenses for this class meeting were all covered by the class monitor. He said his family is quite wealthy."
Even if someone is rich, they can't bear the burden alone. But she's not a class leader, so there are some things she can't bring up. "Secretary, has our class collected the class fees?"
"Not yet," Jiang Xuan laughed. "Don't worry, I'll collect it in a couple of days and then return the money to the class monitor. We won't eat for free."
"Okay." Lin Xi felt much more at ease eating now.
As darkness fell outside, the class meeting drew to a close. The last performer was Xiang Lei, who sang a lyrical song.
Lin Xi listened attentively. She admired every classmate who bravely stepped onto the stage. Xiang Lei's singing was alright; not amazing, but not bad either.
After she finished singing, she gave Lin Xi a provocative look.
Lin Xi: ...
What's wrong with you? Are you showing off?
Lin Xi acknowledged Xiang Lei's excellence and applauded her.
The applause was sparse, which embarrassed Cao Jun. He quickly said, "Let's give a warm round of applause to Xiang Lei for ending our class meeting with a song. I hope we can spend our four years of university life happily at Jiangda University, in the Law School, and in our class."
The applause was enthusiastic, but Xiang Lei's expression was quite unpleasant.
The class meeting ended, and Lin Xi hesitated whether to stay and help clean up, but Jiang Xuan pushed her away, saying, "Lin Xi, you don't live on campus, you should go back first. It's already dark, and it will be dangerous if it gets any later."
"Alright then, feel free to contact me anytime you need me in the future."
Lin Xi left the classroom and strolled around the campus.
It was dark, but the streetlights on campus were bright, and students were walking in twos and threes along the road.
She walked along admiring the night view of Jiangnan University; it was beautiful.
If Grandma wakes up, she must bring her to Jiangda University for a visit.
With thoughts in mind, I walked forward along the road.
When Lin Xi came to her senses, she realized that she seemed to have gone in the wrong direction and was getting further and further away from the school gate.
Fortunately, we discovered it early, otherwise we would have had to walk a much longer distance.
Lin Xi turned around and walked back, but in the instant she turned around, she saw a dark figure hide in the bushes next to her.
She dared not move. If she wasn't mistaken, it should be a person. Was this person following her the whole time?
Lin Xi was unsure and dared not take any risks. She saw several students approaching in the distance, so she waited where she was.
When the students were almost there, she ran over. With others around, the person hiding would definitely not dare to make a move.
After running over, Lin Xi didn't dare to stop. She kept running and running until she couldn't run anymore, then she found a place with people to stop and catch her breath.
She kept looking back, and each time she did, she would see a boy wearing a hat and a mask.
Once or twice might be a coincidence, but four or five times is unacceptable, especially since the man and she maintained a distance of about ten meters.
Lin Xi was filled with anxiety. She didn't have a cell phone and couldn't ask anyone for help. She could only leave as quickly as possible and try to run to places with more people.
With the gates of Jiangda University right in front of them, Lin Xi was already out of breath and looked extremely disheveled.
She wanted to rest and drink water... Suddenly someone grabbed her arm and pulled her over.
