Chapter 211 I want to wake Lu Yunqi up

Lin Xi quickly waved her hand, "No, this is a reaction to a concussion, I feel dizzy and nauseous."

"Is it that serious?" Lu Zhentao frowned.

“This is nothing, it’s child’s play for them,” Lin Xi smiled at Lu Zhentao. “I told you before, I was often beaten by my adoptive parents when I was a child, and it was common for my head to bleed.”

Lu Zhentao's brow furrowed even deeper. "Have you found your biological parents?"

Lin Xi lowered her eyes, her smile vanished, and she shook her head. "I don't want to look anymore."

"Why?" Lu Zhentao asked, somewhat surprised.

“I’ve already had my blood drawn and entered into the DNA database, but there was no match,” Lin Xi said with a dejected expression. “It’s been eighteen years. If they want to find me, they will definitely try every means possible. Maybe they sold me or threw me away. Anyway, they don’t want me. What good would it do to find parents like that?”

Lu Zhentao's heart ached again. His temples throbbed. He desperately wanted to tell Lin Xi that he was her father, that he hadn't abandoned her, and that no matter how bad he, Lu Zhentao, was, he wasn't so bad as to abandon his own child.

Especially the child Zhou Ruolan bore for him

Just as he was struggling with this dilemma, his phone suddenly rang.

He glanced at Lin Xi, then swallowed the words he was about to say. "Lin Xi, you should rest well. Uncle will come to see you another day."

Lin Xi raised her eyes and nodded. "Thank you for coming to see me, Uncle Lu. I can't get up yet, so I'll have Song Xu see you off."

"No need, you're all patients, you should rest well." Lu Zhentao said and hurriedly left the ward.

After leaving the ward, Lu Zhentao answered the phone, his tone impatient, "What is it?"

"Brother Tao, Chang Gui was just taken away by the police. They said he was involved in human trafficking." Meng Xiuwan said anxiously.

Lu Zhentao narrowed his eyes. "He was taken away, not you. What's the rush?"

Meng Xiuwan paused for two seconds, "I...I'm just afraid he'll say something he shouldn't, what if it implicates you?"

"What does this have to do with me?" Lu Zhentao said calmly. "I haven't said or done anything. It's all his personal behavior."

“But…” Meng Xiuwan didn’t know what to say, “You’re his boss.”

“What’s wrong with the boss? I’m not his father, and he doesn’t have to listen to everything I say,” Lu Zhentao sneered. “You seem to care a lot about him.”

"Brother Tao, look at what you're saying. Changgui is my cousin, how can I not care about him?" Meng Xiuwan said coquettishly.

“Just a distant cousin.” Lu Zhentao had investigated Chang Gui and Meng Xiuwan eighteen years ago. They were indeed relatives, but in his view, the relationship was already very distant.

“He’s still my cousin,” Meng Xiuwan said. “Brother Tao, no matter what, it’s no good for us if Changgui is arrested. Can you get him out?”

"How am I supposed to do it?" Lu Zhentao asked coldly.

"Tao-ge, send a message to her brother using Zhou Ruolan's phone," Meng Xiuwan suggested. "Didn't you help him a few times before?"

“It hasn’t been long since the last message, no way.” Lu Zhentao felt a sudden pang of sadness when he thought of Lin Xi; he had almost caused the death of his own daughter.

Meng Xiuwan did not admit that she sold Lin Xi, but Lu Zhentao still suspected her and Chang Gui, as he had entrusted Lin Xi to the two of them at the time.

He didn't want to get Changgui out at all, but Changgui knew too much, and it was indeed not safe for him to stay in the police station.

"Don't worry about this," Lu Zhentao said and hung up the phone.

Since he was already there, Lu Zhentao figured he might as well check on Lu Yunqi, as he still hadn't figured out how she had bumped her head.

When Lu Zhentao arrived at Lu Yunqi's ward, he sat by the bedside and looked at Lu Yunqi, who was quiet with her eyes closed.

It's often said that daughters resemble their fathers, but Lu Yunqi and Lin Xi both look more like their mothers, especially Lu Yunqi, who doesn't resemble him at all. Lin Xi, at least, has a face shape and mouth that resemble his.

Thinking of this, Lu Zhentao stared at Lu Yunqi again, comparing her to Lin Xi.

It's quite strange that Lu Yunqi isn't as tall as Lin Xi. He's 1.85 meters tall, and of the four children, all of them are quite tall except for Lu Yunqi.

Lu Yunqi's intelligence is also worrying. Lu Zhentao has checked all of Lin Xi's information. His daughter has been a top student since childhood, while Lu Yunqi's greatest talent is eating, drinking and having fun.

I wonder who Lu Yunqi takes after. If she weren't his daughter, she'd probably only be able to wash dishes at a restaurant.

A thought suddenly flashed through Lu Zhentao's mind: Lu Yunqi had been delivered via cesarean section ahead of time so that she could give birth on the same date as Lin Xi.

Having never suspected anything before, Lu Zhentao pinched Lu Yunqi's face and turned it around to look at her carefully, feeling that she looked like a different person.

Lu Zhentao never engaged in internal strife. He simply plucked a small lock of hair from Lu Yunqi's head, wrapped it in a piece of paper, and turned to leave.

...

After Lu Zhentao left, Lin Xi could no longer smile.

Song Xu touched her face. "What's wrong?"

“I think he seems to have guessed something,” Lin Xi looked up at Song Xu. “I’ve seen photos of my mother when she was young, and I look a lot like her.”

Song Xu hummed in agreement. "He made it very obvious. I felt like he almost blurted it out. Are you trying to provoke him?"

"I just want to know who sold me out back then, was it him or that mistress?" Lin Xi said.

“It wasn’t him,” Song Xu knew what Lin Xi was concerned about. “The veins on his temples were bulging just now, he had a strong reaction. If it were him, he should have tried to avoid you instead of coming close to you.”

Lin Xi understood, but she would not forgive Lu Zhentao. Even if he hadn't sold her out, all the suffering she had endured was caused by him.

And her mother...

“Everyone should be responsible for their own actions,” Lin Xi said coldly. “I will not forgive anyone.”

“Okay,” Song Xu kissed Lin Xi’s hand, “You can do whatever you want, I will help you.”

“I want them to suffer the same pain we’ve endured,” Lin Xi said sharply, her tone icy. “Lu Yunqi was too easy on her. I really hope she can wake up now.”

“She stole eighteen years of my life. Why should I suffer so much while she enjoys a life of luxury and has the exclusive favor of my father and brother? I can’t get over this.”

"Then let her wake up," Song Xu said indulgently.

Lin Xi looked at Song Xu in confusion, "What do you mean? Whether she wakes up or not is under your control?"

"I guess so," Song Xu blinked. "This hospital is owned by my uncle, so it's convenient for him to do certain things."

"Huh?" Lin Xi hadn't heard Song Xu mention this before. "No wonder he goes to this hospital whenever he's sick."

"Then let Lu Yunqi wake up," Lin Xi sneered. "I'm very curious to see what will happen after she wakes up."
