After breakfast, the two set off for the cemetery.

In the car, there is a driver driving in the front.

Although he got up early today, Lin Tang was surprisingly not sleepy.

Thinking of something, she suddenly turned sideways and clasped Feng Chibai's left wrist with both hands, as if covering her ears.

When she had completely wrapped the bracelet, she whispered, "Feng Chibai, let me tell you in advance, do we still need to pretend in front of your mother?"

He understood the purpose of her action, and the corners of his lips curved slightly, and he opened his mouth. He was about to say "no need", but when the words came to his lips, he suddenly changed his tone and said: "Yes."

Lin Tang nodded thoughtfully, and suddenly said, "What a filial son."

Feng Chibai's mouth twitched for a moment, and he thought she was taking advantage of him, but looking at her expression, he saw that she was serious.

"I'll also think about not letting your mother worry about you." She added the next second.

When she arrived in front of the tombstone, Lin Tang stood upright, at a loss. She had no experience in this area and didn't know what to do for a moment.

The surroundings were very quiet, and she thought about saying hello first, so she said, "Ah..."

Having called Xu Jianyun "Auntie" for so long before, this was the name that popped into her mind. But before she could finish her words, she immediately realized what was happening and changed her words to "Mom."

As soon as she uttered these two words, she felt a little dazed, and even her eyes froze in disbelief.

Only then did she realize that she hadn't called anyone by that name for a long time.

When did it start? It seemed like it was when she was ten years old. Her mother left and never came back to see her again.

Feng Chibai noticed her reaction, held her hand tightly, and broke the silence: "Mom, this is my wife, Lin Tang."

His palms were warm and tightly clenched, instantly bringing Lin Tang back to his senses. It was the first time he'd heard him introduce himself to someone like that, and it was a bit strange.

She couldn't help but smile and imitated his words and said, "Mom, this is my husband, Feng Chibai."

Hearing this, Feng Chibai curled his lips and continued, "He's a brilliant scholar."

Lin Tang was unhappy when he heard this: "You should learn to call me mom first."

“This is my mother.”

Lin Tang didn't argue anymore, and said awkwardly, "Sorry, I recognized the wrong mother."

But Feng Chibai kindly made amends for her: "It's your mother too."

Lin Tang's eyes sparkled, and he couldn't hide his smile: "Mom, don't worry, Feng Chibai is well taken care of by me. No one can bully him. With my help, he can walk sideways in the entire Feng family."

She spoke proudly, and her body vaguely felt wrapped in a warm current, flowing from her fingertips to her heart, bursting out again and again.

This was the first time she experienced the feeling of having a mother, even though she had no blood relationship with her and had never even met her. But miraculously, she inexplicably developed a sense of belonging.

Feng Chibai hummed without denying it, and even added, "Your son is a gigolo."

Lin Tang raised his eyebrows in surprise, "How dare you belittle yourself in front of your mother?"

She started rambling again: "Hey, you don't have to do this on purpose to boost my image. Mom is watching you in heaven, so she must be watching me too. She must also know how amazing her daughter-in-law is."

Feng Chibai didn't interrupt, but just looked at her and smiled quietly.

In the past, he would stay in the cemetery for a long time every time he came, but he would usually just stand quietly in front of the tombstone, like a child seeking shelter. But now, the two of them stayed for a long time as usual, Feng Chibai remained silent, but there was always a sound in front of the tombstone.

Lin Tang can talk a lot at once, from her student days to the interesting things that happened when she entered the research institute. She can talk non-stop, as if she is talking to her biological mother who has been absent from her life for more than ten years.

When they were about to leave, Lin Tang walked in front, in a very happy mood.

Suddenly, a voice came from behind: "Lin Tang, walk slower."

She stopped in response and turned to look at Feng Chibai who was walking slowly towards her. Her mouth seemed to be smeared with poison: "Why, your leg was amputated? Why are you walking so slowly?"

"My legs are fine, but my hands are a bit idle." He replied lightly.

The next second, he came in front of her, grabbed her wrist for no reason, and suddenly hugged her gently.

The breathing sound beside her ear was very shallow. Lin Tang froze for a moment. She paused for a long time before asking in a daze, "Is this for your mother to see, or... do you simply want to take advantage of me?"

Feng Chibai didn't answer her, nor did he let her go. He just said, "You need quiet at this time."

Gradually regaining his composure, Lin Tang said, "I was just thinking, if you show it to your mother, I can try harder."

Feng Chibai didn't understand what she said at first, but he still asked, "How do I add it?"

The moment he finished speaking, Lin Tang tilted his head and kissed him on the chin.

Feeling the warm touch, Feng Chibai looked at her in astonishment, his heart beating rapidly. But she had a playful smile on her face, as if her prank had succeeded.

Suddenly, she remembered what Zhao Yingxun had said to her earlier. Yes, this action was nothing to her. Just like a doctor examining a patient's anatomy, she simply thought of it as two creatures of the same species touching each other's skin, and didn't take it seriously.

A sense of resentment suddenly rose in his heart, and he asked, "Are you like this to others?"

"What?"

Feng Chibai paused, his throat rolling, and then he slowly pointed to the place where she had kissed.

Lin Tang said "oh" lightly and laughed softly, "They don't need me to put on a show."

After receiving the confirmation, Feng Chibai secretly breathed a sigh of relief and reminded: "Don't push others too hard next time."

Lin Tang shook his head slightly. After watching so many episodes of idol dramas, although he didn't think there was anything wrong with this behavior, he still had some sense of propriety.

The weather hasn't shown any signs of cooling down recently, and just walking on the street makes it easy for a thin layer of sweat to seep out of my forehead.

Lin Tang felt a surge of heat, so he went to a nearby convenience store and bought a square cake. While buying it, he even asked Feng Chibai what he wanted to eat, but the answer he got was the same: "No."

She snorted softly: "Come on, you're thinking about me again."

Feng Chibai just smiled lightly and said nothing.

Although she complained, after opening the package, she mercifully let Feng Chibai hold one side of the square cake while she broke it off with force.

She originally thought that the other half would belong to him, but when she saw that his piece had glutinous rice balls, she immediately changed her mind and stretched out her hand to exchange with him. Fortunately, Feng Chibai still had humanity and agreed to her request.

Lin Tang smiled with satisfaction and said, "There's nothing I can do about it. I just like to play tricks."

Feng Chibai's lips curled up, and his tone was calm: "It's not bad, at least it's honest."

After he took a bite, Lin Tang asked expectantly, "Is it delicious?"

The response was a bland, "It's OK."

She drooped her lips and muttered, "Straight man."

Feng Chibai was choked by her words, and laughed for no reason again, then changed the subject and said, "It's delicious."

Knowing that he was agreeing with him, Lin Tang's mood quickly improved, but he said nothing proudly.

The two walked on the street for a long time, unable to tell the flow of time, and only went back when they felt it was about time.

On Wednesday, Yu Jingming came to the institute to talk to Dean Zhang about something. Before leaving, he ran into Lin Tang in the lounge area on the first floor. She was so tired that she was sitting there drinking coffee.

Having not seen each other for several days, Yu Jingming naturally chose to go over and say hello.

Lin Tang responded with a smile and took a plastic cup to help him fill a cup of coffee.

The air suddenly fell into silence.

After a long while, Yu Jingming's voice was heard in the rest area: "How have you been lately?"

Lin Tang didn't notice the abnormality in his tone, pursed his lips, and responded: "I'm fine, what's wrong?"

Yu Jingming half lowered his head and said slowly, "I went back to Jingluo some time ago. I wanted to take some time to look after my grandma, but the people at the hospital told me..."

The voice stopped abruptly.

Lin Tang could guess the second half of the sentence without needing to be told any more. Knowing that he was worried about him, Lin Tang put on a smile and said gently, "Life is full of unexpected surprises."

She couldn't decide.

No one can decide.

So I was forced to accept it.

Yu Jingming turned to look at her expression, which was as calm as ever. His eyelashes trembled, and he asked again: "So what will you do in the future..."

Perhaps fearing that being too explicit might upset her, he still left it half-hearted, but Lin Tang understood his meaning. She took a slow breath and said, "I'll be back in Jingluo, but perhaps not as often as before."

After all, there was no one there that she missed.

Yu Jingming nodded thoughtfully and smiled, "If there's anything you need my help with, just ask."

Lin Tang chuckled: "Can't you just expect me to be better?"

Of course it would be best if you don't need any help.

But as soon as she said this, she suddenly felt dazed. These words seemed somewhat familiar, as if she had said them to Feng Chibai before.

She was stunned, not knowing why she thought of him, and quickly brought her thoughts back to her senses.

After the two chatted briefly, Yu Jingming left.

After he leaves, you should follow him closely with your hind legs.

He had just arrived, but they were just talking, and Yu Jingming's face was still a little heavy. He felt it would be impolite to come closer, what if they were talking about something very private? So he waited until he left before hurriedly coming over to pour him a glass of water.

But seeing Lin Tang's expression was very natural again, he couldn't help but doubt his previous guess. He was silent for a moment, as if he had finally come to a conclusion. He frowned and asked in confusion: "Boss, you said you have such a bad temper, but why are you so popular with the opposite sex?"

Lin Tang's throat clenched at these words, realizing he must have misunderstood something. Just as he was about to speak, he heard him mutter, "Are you going to do the opposite?"

She closed her eyes in silence and kindly reminded him, "Stop it. If you do that, people will sue you for being violent."

Ying Yu choked, pursed his lips, and remained silent, his chest heaving. After a long while, he said sadly, "This world will never be better, and neither will I."

Lin Tang snorted and laughed, then said mercilessly, "When you've rested enough, come up and help me organize the information. Don't be lazy."

I felt even more sad.

It was not until the evening, near the end of the get off work day, that she received a text message from Feng Chibai.

Feng Chibai: [I have a meeting later. I'll have the driver pick you up and then we'll have dinner together.]

Sui Sui: [You have something to do, so why can’t I go eat by myself?]

Feng Chibai: [I'm worried that you'll be too busy and have no place to chat]

Lin Tang: “…”

She finally chose to compromise.
