With a smile on his face, he glanced at Lin Tang and then stopped at Feng Yunjing: "Grandpa saw that you haven't arrived for so long, so he asked me to come out and check the situation."

The voice was neither too loud nor too soft, just enough for Lin Tang to hear. He turned and said to the inside of the house, "Fourth brother and Miss Lin are here."

Following the angle of view created by Feng Chibai's sideways movement, she could just see Old Master Feng sitting inside.

In an instant, everything became clear.

She casually turned her gaze to Feng Yunjing's face, and could actually see panic.

It was quite novel. From the moment he chose to lie to her, shouldn't he have predicted all the outcomes in advance? Why would he panic?

She snorted and laughed, and walked past him without saying anything.

Since she had promised him, she would not break her promise. At least, she would finish the meal.

Upon seeing Lin Tang, Xu Jianyun immediately came forward to greet him. When Feng Yunjing had said that at the dinner table, she had been a little worried that he'd made that boast impulsively, but she hadn't expected him to actually invite Lin Tang over. Suddenly, she felt incredibly proud, her lips unable to close. "Oh, I told you that Xiao Jing and Xiao Lin were good friends."

She automatically finalized their relationship in her mind, and naturally changed her way of addressing Lin Tang to a very intimate junior term.

"Good friends?" Lin Tang said with a smile, glancing at Feng Yunjing behind him. "Not really, we've only met a few times."

She bit the word "缘" very hard, bringing out the anger in her heart.

But the catharsis only goes so far.

Seeing that everyone stood up unconsciously, the old man asked everyone to sit down quickly.

Perhaps because they were invited by Feng Yunjing, everyone spontaneously reserved the seat next to her for her. Directly across from her, Feng Chibai stared at her quietly, a smile still lingering on his face.

The two looked at each other, and Lin Tang suddenly understood what he meant by what he said that day.

And, the invitation to the so-called "meteor shower" was just to test whether she agreed to Feng Yunjing's request.

She laughed in her heart. It seemed that the people sitting at this table were not ordinary people.

Seeing that no one was eating, Old Master Feng told everyone to relax and turned to Lin Tang with a smile, "Thank you, young lady, for doing me an old man a favor."

Lin Tang smiled faintly: "You are too kind."

After all, she had no idea who was here. Of course, if she knew, she might not have given him this favor.

The dinner table was very quiet because the old man was there and everyone was always a little reserved.

Lin Tang was not in a happy mood, but he did not want to spoil everyone's fun and ate his meal leisurely.

But she suddenly noticed that there was a bowl of seafood porridge that was always passed to her.

She didn't pay much attention to it, but she accidentally met Feng Chibai's gaze.

There was a smile in his eyes as he looked at her intentionally or unintentionally.

At just one glance, she knew who wrote it.

She was already very resentful towards this family, and this action made her even more angry, so she simply chose to ignore it.

With her around, this meal is bound to be a restless one.

As if he had found something to show off, Xu Jianyun would occasionally turn the topic to Lin Tang, as if he wanted to use her to gain face.

"Xiao Lin is really young and promising. By the way, how did you meet our Xiao Jing?"

Her voice was thin and sharp, and the smile in her words was almost overflowing.

But Lin Tang didn't feel comfortable listening to it. She kept a proper smile on her face, but said nothing, and glanced at Feng Yunjing casually.

The next second, Feng Yunjing interrupted, "Mom, Lin Tang is already showing respect by coming here. Don't ask any more questions, or you'll embarrass him."

His voice was a little unsteady, and rather than trying to help her out, it seemed more like... he was afraid she would answer.

The room became quiet again.

In the middle of the conversation, Lin Tang got up and went to the bathroom.

When she came out, she turned on the sink, and the cold water splashed on her palms, making her feel a little calmer.

Out of the corner of my eye, I noticed that there was another person in the mirror in front of me.

She raised her eyes and glanced at the mirror. He was leaning against the wall with his arms folded, looking at her calmly.

She turned off the faucet, pulled out a few sheets of paper, and slowly wiped the water stains on her hands. Then she turned around, leaned against the edge of the sink, and met his gaze.

She crumpled the soaked tissue and held it in her palm. She said bluntly, "Watching the meteors last time was just an excuse."

Feng Chibai's eyebrows curved, but his eyes showed a little distance: "Sui Sui is really smart."

Lin Tang chuckled: "Your family is quite interesting. You all like to play tricks on people."

"I didn't. I told you very frankly that I wanted to use you." He explained methodically, pausing deliberately. "Of course, you can also use me."

The words were blunt, but not unpleasant to the ear. Lin Tang played with the paper ball in his hand and chuckled softly, "As expected of a businessman, it seems Mr. Feng has done a great job of operating with integrity."

Suddenly remembering something, she stopped what she was doing and asked, "Why did you keep turning that bowl of seafood porridge towards me just now?"

"I think it's delicious, and I want you to try it too."

His expression remained unchanged, making it impossible to tell whether he was real or fake. After a moment of silent stare, Feng Chibai's smile slowly faded, and he asked seriously, "So, between him and me, who do you prefer?"

"Give me a reason to choose you."

"I'm more honest than he is."

"The reason is valid."

The words came out so crisply, as if it was not a momentary impulse, but a decision made long ago.

She stood up, withdrew her gaze from him, and strode out.

As she passed by him, she threw the tissue neatly and it fell steadily into the trash can beside her.

She didn't look at his expression again, and she didn't think it was necessary.

Turning into the corridor, she ran into someone she didn't really want to see at the moment.

With him blocking her way, she had no choice but to stop.

"Lin Tang, I can explain it to you clearly."

There was no one else here, so he could talk to her without any scruples.

But she didn't really want to hear it: "No need to explain."

She took a deep breath, seemingly still recovering from the anger. "McMc Crispy Chicken, I'm sorry I still don't know your real name, so I can only call you this. Do you know what I hate most in my life? Being deceived."

Her throat rolled, and there was a faint feeling of heat rising.

She has experienced many lies in her life, but there are two that she will never forget.

When she was eleven years old, her father lied to her that he would wait for her outside a shopping mall, but he never came back, causing her to almost freeze to death that night.

When she was fifteen, her grandmother took out all the pension money she'd saved for most of her life to support her high school education. She deceived her into believing it was government compensation for demolition. As a result, when she developed early-stage stomach cancer, she didn't have enough money for treatment, and she chose to keep it a secret. Now, with her condition progressing, she can't even guarantee how long she'll live.

A sour feeling rose at the tip of her nose. She suppressed the uncomfortable feeling and said calmly, "Don't worry, I'm not a vengeful person. I won't expose you, and I will finish this meal."

The man in front of her froze in place, perhaps because he didn't expect her to give him so much face. He felt extremely guilty and opened and closed his mouth, but couldn't utter a word.

Lin Tang withdrew his gaze and passed by him with a cold face.

Not long after returning to the private room, Feng Yunjing and Feng Chibai came in one after another.

After everyone was seated, Feng Siru looked around, a smile on her lips, and said slowly, "Why do they all go out in a group as soon as Miss Lin leaves?"

Feng Chibai didn't even glance at her, and replied calmly, "Second sister can go out too."

Feng Siru's smile froze. She knew what day it was today. At least she couldn't make a big deal out of it even if she was looking for trouble, so as not to get herself involved. So she didn't reply.

Everyone ate quietly and no one spoke.

Meanwhile, the bowl of seafood porridge was once again placed before him. Lin Tang glanced at the person opposite him, but ultimately chose to accept the offer and eat a bowl.

The taste was better than she had imagined. Although it had been stored for a long time, it was still warm.

When the meal was over and they were about to leave, Xu Jianyun said, "Hey, Xiao Jing and Xiao Lin are familiar with each other, so let Xiao Jing take you home."

Lin Tang didn't think much about it and replied calmly: "No need."

She turned around and was about to leave when she caught sight of a car parked not far away. Feng Chibai, standing a step away from her, said in a voice only the two of them could hear, "I'll take you there."

This time, Lin Tang did not refuse.

Some things really need to be resolved.

In the car, before the driver started the car, Lin Tang said, "Take me back to the institute."

The driver exchanged glances with Feng Chibai through the rearview mirror, then started the engine and drove towards the Astronomical Research Institute.

Not long after the car started moving, Lin Tang suddenly asked, "Boss Feng should have the contract with him, right?"

Feng Chibai didn't react at first, and after a pause, he realized which contract she was referring to. He hadn't expected her to bring it up so soon. He raised his eyebrows and asked, "Have you thought about it?"

Lin Tang leaned lazily against the cushions, glanced sideways and chuckled, "Shouldn't you have handed it over directly when I mentioned it? Aren't you afraid that I might regret it later?"

Feng Chibai was not at all intimidated by this. He smiled and said, "I'm afraid you'll regret it later."

"When did President Feng become so slow-paced?"

Feng Chibai hummed and explained, "I'm sorry, I also wanted to finish this quickly, but I really didn't bring anything with me today."

Lin Tang crossed his arms and adjusted himself to a comfortable sitting position, with a smile on his face. "I thought that when Mr. Feng said that, he was already sure of victory today."

Feng Chibai replied, "But today, I really just want to have a meal with you."

"With me?" Lin Tang grasped the key point sharply, "or with a group of people?"

Feng Chibai laughed but didn't answer. After a moment, he said, "Don't worry, it will be delivered to your office on time tomorrow morning."

The car stopped at the right time.

Lin Tang opened the car door, but was in no hurry to leave. He glanced back and said, "Then, see you tomorrow."

After she said this, she didn't stop.

Only after she was out of his sight did Feng Chibai let the driver drive towards the old house.

Along the way, he thought a lot.

He is definitely not a procrastinator.

So, if you want to do it, you have to do it comprehensively.
