It was still snowing on Monday.
It was rare for Lin Tang to go to the research institute early, so when he arrived at the office, Ying followed him in.
Glancing at the two umbrellas on her shelf, he asked in confusion, "Why did you bring two umbrellas? Is the snow so heavy?"
Lin Tang followed his gaze and took a look, then explained while sorting his things: "The black one is not mine. I want to return the white one to Feng Chi."
Ying Yuyi was even more confused when he heard this: "Are you two so distant? You have to share an umbrella?"
Lin Tang tutted his words: "You little brat, what do you know?"
After putting the documents in order, she walked straight past him and headed outside, not forgetting to remind him: "Let's go, to the meeting."
At the end of each year, the institute would gather all staff members for an annual summary and safety briefing. The content of each meeting was almost the same, but the format still had to be followed.
There are no specific seats assigned in the conference hall, and everyone is free to sit wherever they want.
With Lin Tang around, Ying Yu would naturally choose to sit next to her.
It was just because of the ring yesterday that she had been listening absentmindedly throughout the meeting, not even looking at her phone. Ying Yu noticed this and couldn't help but ask, "What's wrong with you? Are you bored and sleepy?"
This sound finally brought Lin Tang back to her senses. She glanced around and reminded him, "Keep your voice down. If Director Yuan notices, he'll ask me out for tea again."
Talking on her phone during meetings was a common occurrence for her, and fearing being caught out, Lin Tang always chose a seat far back. Still, Director Yuan noticed her a few times, and inevitably called Lin Tang over for a conversation. He wasn't blaming her, but simply giving her a serious word of caution, advising her to avoid acting rashly in the presence of superiors, lest she be perceived as impolite.
Lin Tang sighed gloomily, leaned towards him, and lowered his voice: "Tell me, what is it like to like someone?"
Ying Yu seemed to be unable to believe what he heard and pointed at himself hesitantly: "You ask me? You're a married man, asking me someone who has never been in a relationship?"
"That's not right." Ying Yu frowned as he thought of something. "Boss, your statement is very dangerous. Does Mr. Feng know that someone is pursuing you?"
Lin Tang glanced at him and muttered, "I know, I told you it was him."
She said irritably, "Ah, anyway, our relationship is more complicated than you think. It's hard to explain in a short time, but..."
Her voice stopped abruptly.
But Ying Yu was still waiting curiously. After a while, she heard her say to herself, "It's good not to see him for a few days, so that I won't get confused when I see him."
He seemed to have caught the key words in her words and asked in surprise, "Are you two still living in separate rooms now? Are the arguments that serious?"
His eyes moved casually downwards. After so many days, he finally noticed that her fingers were already empty. His eyes widened immediately: "You even threw away that big diamond ring?"
That's millions of dollars. Wasn't it said to be a life-saving talisman for the rest of your life? Yet, you just threw the money away like that.
However, the next second after he finished speaking, Lin Tang silently took out a box from his pocket.
He took it and looked inside. Inside the box was the ring, so he laughed awkwardly and said, "Just a joke."
Because the ring was on Lin Tang's hand before, he had not looked at it carefully. Now that he finally had the chance to take it in front of him to look at it, he found that the diamond was not completely embedded in the ring. It seemed that the position could be adjusted. So with this curiosity, he tried to turn it. The diamond instantly shifted an angle according to his force, making a not-so-loud dull collision sound.
When Lin Tang heard this, he suddenly realized what he had done. He quickly snatched the ring from his hand and put it in the box, warning him: "Don't try to play with it again."
Seeing that she looked a little nervous, Ying suddenly realized that he seemed to have done something he shouldn't have done, but he didn't know what it was. But now seeing her anxiously taking out her cell phone, he didn't dare to speak.
Lin Tang opened the chat interface with Feng Chibai and quickly typed a sentence in the dialog box: Sorry, my friend accidentally transferred it just now, I'm fine.
But the moment the message was sent, she suddenly felt a little uncertain. She had given him the ring for so long, and if he said he didn't want to turn it, he would have deleted the reminder command of the device long ago.
Just as I was hesitating whether to withdraw, a new message suddenly popped up on the screen.
Feng Chibai: [I'm glad you're alright]
Her raised fingers froze, and she thought to herself, since the ring had already been mentioned, she might as well ask again. So she sent another message: Did you put the ring in my pocket?
Feng Chibai: [I've said before, I don't like to take back things I've given away. Since I gave it to you, no matter what its meaning or function is, it already belongs to you. If you don't like it, or feel that it's a hindrance, then you can do with it as you please.]
Sui Sui: [Don’t make me sound so cruel]
Feng Chibai: [That's not what I meant. If there are any inappropriate words, I hope you can understand.]

Seeing her put away her phone, Ying Yu, with a heart hanging in the air, took the initiative to ask, "Boss, I won't break your ring, will I?"
Lin Tang made a gesture to stop him, breathed a sigh of relief, and replied, "It's okay, just concentrate on listening."
When the meeting was over, Lin Tang was about to leave through the back door when Director Yuan suddenly stopped her and asked her to come to his office later.
Thinking she was caught again, she mentally prepared herself for being lectured for a long time before she slowly knocked on Director Yuan's office door.
However, as soon as she sat down, Director Yuan immediately placed a document in front of her.
Lin Tang flipped it open with confusion. It was a normal cooperation project plan with the company, but when he looked down, he saw that the applicant was clearly written as Luochen Group.
Director Yuan saw her stunned and explained, "Luo Chen is developing a new product, and some of the parts require our cooperation. The leaders originally discussed having Yu Qi lead the team, but she recently had another project to rush. After further discussion with the leaders, it just so happened that you didn't have any projects going forward, so we decided to give it to you."
The fact that she and Feng Chibai were married was known to everyone in the institute.
But she understood that Director Yuan always handled his business impartially and would not have any other thoughts.
Having just finished a scientific expedition to Country R, the institute was worried about forcing her to take on more projects, so she'd been taking it easy lately. But after taking it easy for so long, it was inevitable that she'd start to feel a bit uncomfortable, so she decided to accept the offer.
Director Yuan continued, "The subsequent coordination will also be fully transferred to you. I'll send you the contact information of their person in charge later. If you have any questions, please communicate directly with the person in charge there."
Lin Tang replied honestly, "I understand."
Director Yuan nodded: "There's nothing else to do, you can go ahead and do your work."
After returning to the office, Lin Tang began to check the contents of the project plan.
During the initial stages of their first collaboration with Yunhe, Director Yuan was there to guide them. He would promptly address any questions they had. However, Director Yuan had been busy with his own projects, so this time, she was the one leading the team from start to finish. She couldn't bother Director Yuan with some unclear points in the proposal.
So after marking all the doubtful points, she sent a message to the person in charge there before getting off work, and agreed to meet with Luo Chen the next afternoon to discuss the details.
But not long after I turned off the screen, it lit up again.
It shows that there is an unread message on WeChat, which was sent just now.
In fact, she had already anticipated it before clicking it.
As expected.
Feng Chibai: [Sorry, I'm still working overtime today and can't come over to see you]
Lin Tang smiled slightly and replied: It's okay, I don't really want to see you.
Feng Chibai: [That's quite sad]
She put away her phone and subconsciously looked at the umbrella on the shelf.
Let’s return it to him when we go to Luochen tomorrow.
She looked up at the time and saw that it was almost time to get off work, so she started packing up.
Because the institute is not far from where she lives, she is used to walking back even in cold weather unless she is in a hurry.
There was a Chinese medicine clinic on the street on her way back. When she passed by, something flashed through her mind. She suddenly stopped and turned to walk into the store.
This wasn't her first time in the store, and she had met the owner several times before. She wandered over to an area with sachets, finally picking one up and saying, "Please help me pack this up."
The sachet she had chosen contained Chinese herbal remedies for soothing the nerves and aiding sleep. As the shopkeeper packed it in a bag for her, he asked, "What's wrong? Have you been having trouble sleeping lately?"
Lin Tang smiled and said frankly: "This is for someone to give away."
After taking it, she thanked the boss and put the bag into the bag she usually carried.

The next afternoon, the assistant reported tomorrow's schedule in Feng Chibai's office as usual.
Before leaving, thinking of the scene he had just seen, he tactfully reminded: "Director Feng, I just saw Miss Lin coming over."
Just one sentence was enough to make Feng Chibai stop what he was doing. He raised his head, half-closed his eyes, and waited for his next words.
The assistant added, "They're probably here for the photosynthesis project. They're in the conference room on the seventh floor."
Feng Chibai's pupils dilated, and he smiled imperceptibly, "I understand. You can leave first."
On the left side of his desk was a pile of documents he had recently reviewed. Relying on his memory, he quickly found the one on the photosynthesis project and purposefully flipped through it, looking at the person in charge of the liaison, Luo Chen.
The other end.
In the conference room on the seventh floor.
After discussing the issues circled yesterday and the feasibility of some of them, Qin Hao suddenly received a call from his superior. He stood up and said to Lin Tang, "Ms. Lin, I'm going to go out and answer the phone first."
Lin Tang didn't think much about it. He nodded politely and quickly looked over the document, fearing that he had missed something to ask about and would have to come back to trouble others again another day.
After confirming that there were no problems, she waited in the conference room for a while until Qin Hao returned. However, he didn't sit down immediately. Instead, he said to her, "Miss Lin, do you have any other questions? If not, I'll be busy now."
Lin Tang also stood up and put the documents away while saying, "It's okay. If there are any problems during the research and development process, we can contact you online."
Seeing that she was about to leave, Qin Hao hurriedly said, "Oh, I might ask you to sit here for a while. Our leaders may need to confirm with you about the specific feasibility of some aspects of the project. I'll be there soon."
Lin Tang said okay and sat down again.
But I suddenly felt something was wrong.
When she came, she met Feng Chibai's assistant. Previously, projects were usually finalized by the person in charge, and there had never been a situation where the leader inexplicably intervened.
Suddenly, I understood.
She smiled, but still had no intention of leaving.
There was the sound of a door opening behind him, and a few seconds later, a cup of hot water was placed on the table in front of him.
