Lin Tang tilted his head slightly and stared at him, without a trace of surprise on his face.

Just a glance at each other, and Feng Chibai knew that she had guessed it, so he said: "It seems that I came in time, otherwise it seems that I can only stare at the air."

Lin Tang pushed the document in front of him and continued with what Qin Hao had just said, "I wonder what Mr. Feng thinks about the project?"

But this time Feng Chibai said frankly: "Lin Tang, you know that's an excuse."

Lin Tang looked at him and laughed for no apparent reason. She folded her arms and looked away, suddenly feeling dazed. "That's quite unusual. It's rare to hear you call me by my name so often in such a short period of time."

After all, in the past, when there was something, people would call her Sui Sui, and when there was nothing, people would call her Miss Lin.

"After all, we're still in the consideration stage, and I'm worried that you'll think I'm crossing the line." Feng Chibai explained.

Lin Tang's smile deepened: "When I didn't agree at the beginning, didn't you also keep shouting 'Sui Sui' enthusiastically?"

"Then I can understand." Feng Chibai paused deliberately, "You are tacitly agreeing that I can..."

Lin Tang interrupted him: "I didn't say that, don't be so self-indulgent."

She leaned over and handed him the umbrella on the seat beside her: "I brought your umbrella."

Feng Chibai was stunned for a moment, then smiled helplessly and said, "If I hadn't found a reason to keep you here."

"Then I will go find you too." Lin Tang replied.

Feng Chibai glanced at the umbrella she had folded so nicely. After a moment of silence, she made no other movement, so he took the initiative to ask, "Is this all you have?"

Lin Tang was stunned for a moment, and thought in confusion that this seemed to be the only thing he lent her.

But the ring suddenly flashed through her mind, and she said hesitantly: "I didn't bring it, didn't you say..."

"Well, it's yours." Feng Chibai said affirmatively.

Before I knew it, the sky outside the conference room window had turned dark.

Feng Chibai looked down at his watch and said, "It's past closing time at the research institute."

"I know."

"What I mean is, let's go to my house for dinner." Feng Chibai looked at her stubbornly.

But Lin Tang refused without even thinking: "No thanks."

"Are you scared?" Feng Chibai said calmly, without any sign of anxiety.

Lin Tang snorted softly: "What am I afraid of?"

"I'm afraid that once you go back there, you'll be reminded of the past, and then here." He pointed to the spot where his heart was, "and you'll start to miss me."

Lin Tang knew he was trying to provoke her, so he said with a purr, "You're quite confident."

She stood up, as if she had already made up her mind. Without waiting for his next words, she picked up her bag and walked straight out the door.

As she was about to step out of the conference room door, she heard no movement behind her. She stopped, leaned against the door, and said with her back to him, "Didn't we say we were going to your house for dinner? Why are you still sitting here?"

She had to admit that sometimes provocation did work.

Feng Chibai curled his lips, stood up slowly and said, "Let's go."

When I returned to the place where we used to live together, my aunt had already prepared the meal, which was still steaming.

After eight months, Lin Tang stepped into this place again and looked around subconsciously. The scene in front of him overlapped with his memory, and all the furnishings had not been changed.

Feng Chibai put her bag on the sofa and reminded her, "Come and eat."

After sitting down and taking a bite of the food, Feng Chibai asked with a smile: "Is it to your liking?"

Lin Tang took another bite before he said slowly, "You didn't invite me here just to make me eat something I don't like, did you?"

This time Feng Chibai changed his words: "I need affirmation."

Lin Tang was silent for a moment, then said, "It's delicious."

After the topic ended, the dinner table returned to silence.

Just as the meal was about to end, Feng Chibai's cell phone suddenly rang. He glanced at the caller ID and hung up without hesitation.

When the lock screen returned, Lin Tang noticed that his phone wallpaper was a photo of the two of them. He subconsciously turned away and asked casually, "Why didn't you answer?"

"Don't talk about work after get off work." Feng Chibai looked at her, "At least not now."

Lin Tang nodded absentmindedly, then glanced toward the window. Suddenly, he noticed the bouquet of Aurora roses in the vase, which had been there for a few days. The petals were still growing well, showing no sign of wilting. He couldn't help but sigh, "Is this the bouquet from a few days ago? It's still growing so well after just a few days."

Feng Chibai heard it, followed her gaze, and said softly, "Aren't you going to praise me?"

Hearing this, Lin Tang smiled and said, "Are you a three-year-old child?"

This time she didn't do what he wanted.

After finally finishing the meal, Lin Tang had no intention of staying any longer. He picked up his bag on the sofa and prepared to leave.

Feng Chibai noticed it, walked over to her and asked, "Don't you plan to stay a little longer?"

"I've already eaten, and it's getting late." She pointed to her heart and said, "You're not here either, so why should I stay?"

Feng Chibai was not discouraged and said, "I'll take you there."

"No need." Lin Tang still refused subconsciously.

Feng Chibai said reasonably: "I brought the person here, and I have to make sure you return safely."

"It's up to you." After saying this, Lin Tang walked straight out.

When the car stopped at the gate of the community, Lin Tang got out directly. After taking a few steps, he noticed out of the corner of his eye that he had not left yet.

She stopped, closed her eyes, took a deep breath, then turned back and knocked on his car window.

The moment the window rolled down, Lin Tang caught his eye. She raised the corner of her mouth and said casually, "Good driving, thanks."

As she finished speaking, she took something out of her bag and threw it directly at him, along with the words, "Thank you."

Then, without waiting for him to say anything, she turned around and walked towards the community.

When I got home and just sat down on the sofa, my phone vibrated several times.

Feng Chibai: [You left so quickly, you didn't even take the time to say thank you.]

Feng Chibai: [The sachet smells great. I think I will have a good sleep tonight.]

Lin Tang chuckled, but didn't reply. Her fingers, seemingly out of control, had already clicked through her own circle of friends while she was stunned, stopping on a photo.

The content of the photo is exactly the same as Feng Chibai's lock screen.

That was a long time ago, and she set it to be visible only to herself.

Perhaps the most appropriate approach would be to delete it, but perhaps it was the two years of friendship that held her back at the moment she made the decision, preventing her from making up her mind.

She closed her eyes, leaned against the sofa, took a few deep breaths, and took out the box that Ying had played with in the morning from her bag.

She opened the box with one hand and took out the ring. Under the light from the ceiling, the diamond on the ring shone with pure light, which was a bit dazzling.

For some reason, at that moment, she suddenly didn't want to pay it back.

She became so weird.

*

The last day of December.

Lin Tang came back from the meeting and just turned on his computer when a pop-up window of news immediately popped up on the screen.

She habitually reached for the exit button, but her eyes accidentally fell on a piece of news. The next second, she changed her mind and clicked on the detailed introduction of the news.

Today is the last day of 2027, and the beginning of 2028 will usher in a magnificent meteor shower. According to astronomical forecasts, due to the orbital period changes of its parent comet, the peak of the Quadrantid meteor shower has been delayed and is expected to reach its peak on the evening of January 10th, making it the most suitable night for astronomy enthusiasts to observe.

As soon as Ying Yi came in, he noticed she was reading the news, so he leaned over to take a look. However, after reading the content and considering what had happened a few days ago, he couldn't help but feel a little puzzled: "Boss, are you so concerned about the arrival of this meteor shower?"

Lin Tang turned off the news expressionlessly, glanced at the document he handed over, and said as he signed, "Just take a look."

He responded with an "oh" and then asked casually, "But what's the date January 4th? Do you really want the Quadrant to arrive as scheduled?"

Lin Tang put away his pen and pushed the document toward him, a faint smile on his face: "January 4th is indeed nothing."

But once it’s past midnight, it seems impossible to say.

"Nothing." She pulled back her thoughts. "Is there anything else? If not, please leave first. I need to write a report."

"It's okay, it's okay. I won't disturb you." Ying Yu walked out with the documents and closed the door for her.

As soon as the working hours were over, Lin Tang turned off the computer, packed his things and prepared to leave.

When she walked out of the institute's gate, she saw the person waiting not far away, and his eyes were looking towards her.

After taking a few steps closer, she crossed her arms and smiled, "It seems that President Feng is not very busy today."

Feng Chibai's phoenix eyes stared straight at her and said with an ambiguous tone, "Lin Tang, tomorrow is Saturday."

"What do you want to say?"

"Are you interested in celebrating New Year's Eve?" Feng Chibai paused and added, "Come with me."

He smiled with a smile on his face, his brows gleaming with anticipation. "It just so happens that I've just recently learned some astronomy knowledge, and I'd like to ask for your advice."

Lin Tang didn't answer him immediately, as if she found it funny. She reminded him word by word, "You used this excuse three years ago."

"So I was seen through then," he said thoughtfully, "So, can I succeed this time?"

The boundless night was spreading, and the sound of a car was howling not far ahead. As it passed by, a gust of wind swept over here, and the hems of both people's clothes were swayed by the invisible wind.

Lin Tang suppressed his smile and after a moment of silence, he uttered two words: "Address."

"Qu Hejiang."

"Where are you going and what are you doing?"

"I heard there will be Kongming lanterns and fireworks there tonight." Feng Chibai took a step closer to her. He was almost a head taller than her. At this moment, his eyes were half-lowered, and his eyes unconsciously took on a bit of aggression. "Do you want to go and see it?"

Lin Tang went forward fearlessly: "If I refuse, will you let me go?"

Feng Chibai smiled and moved away: "I won't force you, but I might be very sad."

Lin Tang didn't say anything else. He walked past him and went straight to the passenger seat, opened the door and got in.

It was an answer to him.

The two found a nearby restaurant to have dinner, and then drove slowly towards their destination.

Because Qu Hejiang wasn't that close to where they started, seeing Lin Tang leaning her head toward the window, Feng Chibai asked, fearing she might be bored, "What song do you want to listen to?"

Lin Tang finally tilted her head towards him. She casually adjusted her sitting position and replied, "I don't usually like listening to music."

Knowing that she was not going to make excuses anymore, Feng Chibai still chose to play a random song.

But he didn't like listening to music, so he just played a soothing piano piece.

After listening for a few seconds, Lin Tang jokingly said, "If you didn't know, you would think you didn't ask me out for New Year's Eve, but simply asked me to sleep."

"Sorry, I don't listen to music much either." Feng Chibai explained.

After the car was quiet again for a moment, an abrupt ringtone interrupted the song that was playing.

Feng Chibai pressed the call button, and the voice on the other end of the phone instantly rang out in the car through the connected Bluetooth: "Hello, what's going on? Didn't you say you would come back tonight? It's already this late, where are you?"

Although they hadn't seen each other for a long time, Lin Tang immediately recognized that it was the voice of Old Man Feng, and there was a hint of anger in his words.

She subconsciously looked at Feng Chibai, wanting to listen to his explanation at ease.
