Thirty-seven stars
A few days after returning to China, Lin Tang started to get busy. He stayed in the research institute almost until curfew time every day.
Until one Monday, I finally returned to the old house on time to get off work.
At night, in the room.
Lin Tang had just finished washing up and sat down next to Feng Chibai with a serious face. Seeing that he had his head down and was not looking at him at all, he coughed lightly to signal him.
There was still no movement. Lin Tang could no longer sit still, so he moved closer to him and took the documents from his hand.
Feng Chibai finally looked up at her. He calmly watched her move to his side, a hint of a smile lingering in his eyes. Suddenly, he saw her sigh in mock distress, shaking her head from side to side. "It's so hard to guess. What day do you think it is today?"
The moment she finished speaking, she blinked at him expectantly, but the next second she heard him ask, "What?"
Lin Tang's brows knitted together. "What? How could you possibly forget this?"
She leaned over to gauge his expression, realizing he wasn't kidding. Her expression grew serious, and she began trying to jog his memory. "This time last year, someone dragged me up the mountain and stayed there until the early morning just to watch the meteor shower."
Feng Chibai's face finally changed. He curled his lips and said slowly, "It's hard for Sui Sui to still remember."
The memory was successfully recalled, and Lin Tang began to say in a sly tone, "What a pity that the Quadrantid didn't show up as promised this year."
Feng Chibai looked at her quietly, and after a moment, he replied, "In your heart, wasn't that invitation just a cover?"
She didn't know if it was her imagination, but she vaguely heard a hint of complaint and quickly retorted, "I never said that."
Feeling that the groundwork had been laid, she pushed Feng Chibai's arm and said in a negotiating tone, "Do me a favor and turn off the lights."
Feng Chibai asked in confusion what was going on, but got no answer, so he stood up and did what he was told.
The moment the lights went out, the room was plunged into darkness, and the structure of the room could only be seen with the help of the few lights sneaking in from the window.
But before he could get close, Lin Tang asked him to stay where he was and close his eyes.
Feng Chibai didn't understand her intention, but still did it.
For fear that he would open his eyes and peek, Lin Tang went over and covered his eyes with his hands, then began to fiddle with the body with difficulty using his remaining hand.
It was inconvenient and took a lot of time, but the man in front of her seemed to have enough patience to wait for her without complaining.
At one point, he finally got the equipment adjusted. The moment the switch flipped on, the room suddenly lit up with a silvery-white light, spreading from below to the ceiling, then descending from the ceiling, faintly penetrating his obstructed vision.
The moment the hand in front of him dropped, the first thing that came into his sight was Lin Tang, enveloped in a starry sky. He looked up in astonishment. On the ceiling, the Milky Way was flowing, and meteors were flying. The vast universe seemed to be contained in this small space, visible only to them.
A smiling voice echoed in my ears: "Although I can't see the meteors this time, I brought the quadrant here. Happy birthday, Feng Chibai."
His heart trembled, as if a ripple was stirred, but he tried hard to suppress the uneasiness and asked, "So, this is what you have been busy with these two days?"
Unable to discern his tone, Lin Tang began to ramble, "Hey, hey, hey, why aren't you surprised at all? I put a lot of thought into this. It's not as good as the gold necklaces Zhao Yingxun and the others gave me, but this is..."
The Quadrant descended, and the dazzling stars came to him.
The suppressed emotions surged out, and he couldn't help but feel an impulse. With this impulse, he leaned over and hugged her before she could finish her words.
The hushed atmosphere inside made the whistling of the wind outside particularly noticeable. Beneath the twinkling starlight, Lin Tang was stunned, forced to accept the sudden masculine scent that enveloped her, her breathing uncontrollably pausing for a moment. Her voice was soft, still recovering, "Why... do you always take advantage of me?"
"It's normal between husband and wife."
"But we..."
Isn't it fake?
But before he could utter these words, as if predicted, a large hand blocked the words in time, and then said sullenly: "It's your birthday. I don't want to hear anything that spoils the mood."
Lin Tang was forced to mute the microphone and could only wait quietly until he had hugged her enough before slowly letting go.
Then he walked to a place without saying a word, took out a box and handed it to her.
She took it hesitantly, then, as if she had thought of something, she rushed out a bunch of words: "Isn't it your birthday? How did you turn it into a gift for me? Oh, I see. You're blaming me for not giving you something practical, so you brought this to me specifically."
Feng Chibai listened patiently to her nonsense before he said, "Open it."
Lin Tang did as she was told. Inside the small, square box was a ring that looked very similar to the one she'd bought, yet also a little different. She asked, "Did you get it altered?"
Feng Chibai held her finger and placed it on the diamond on top of the ring, then led her to turn it in one direction. The next second, Feng Chibai's cell phone suddenly rang.
He met Lin Tang's surprised gaze and answered her earlier words seriously: "There is a chip installed in it. If you encounter danger, you just need to unscrew it, and the chip will sense it and transmit the information to me."
"I really can't be by your side instantly, but I hope I can sense your danger the first time."
Lin Tang listened to his every word, his eyelashes trembling in shock, his fingers still lingering on the diamond that held a secret. After a moment, he smiled and said, "You've touched me a little bit."
Feng Chibai said seriously, "You are allowed to cry."
Lin Tang sneered, "It's your birthday, don't do something that ruins the mood."
She lowered her eyes and fixed her gaze on the ring. Suddenly, her vision became a little dazed. She was indeed moved.
It's amazing that there is someone who cares so much about himself.
She silently picked up the ring he had taken off earlier and put it back on her ring finger.
The lights in the room were not turned on yet, and the silvery-white projected starlight collided with the diamonds, emitting a crystal-clear reflection.
She put her hand down, but then felt awkward again, so she simply went behind him. She stopped joking with him and said seriously, "Feng Chibai, thank you."
The moment the voice fell, the room suddenly fell into darkness again.
"Ah." The emotions that had been brewing were instantly broken. Lin Tang explained embarrassedly: "I've been testing the effects these past two days and forgot to charge it."
Feng Chibai picked up the starry sky projector from the ground in the dark and placed it on the table. He had no intention of turning on the light again: "It's just right, time to go to bed."
Lin Tang said "oh" and mercifully didn't argue with the birthday boy.
Not long after I lay down on the bed, the mattress next to me sank.
Lin Tang likes to sleep on his side. Originally, she was facing away from him. When he was playing with his fingers out of boredom, he touched the ring again.
Suddenly remembering something, she turned around and faced Feng Chibai. She couldn't tell whether his eyes were open or not, so she simply tugged at the corner of his clothes to verify.
The next second, the dishonest hand was held down.
Lin Tang was not embarrassed and asked him curiously: "Feng Chibai, aren't you afraid that I will spin it for you when I have nothing to do?"
Feng Chibai replied calmly in a low voice, "Can I understand that you've been thinking about seeing me when you're free?"
Lin Tang choked, feeling lost, and glared at him, even though he couldn't see. He pulled his hand back and muttered, "Forget it. I can't have a conversation with you."
Then he turned his back again.
But before she could close her eyes, a voice suddenly came from behind her: "Sui Sui, good night."
Lin Tang tilted his eyes: "Should I say good night too?"
Feng Chibai replied: "It's up to you."
Lin Tang uttered an "oh" for a long time before slowly adding, "Feng Chibai, good night."
The person next to him hadn't fallen asleep yet. When he heard this, he hummed almost the next second.

At the end of the year, the workload at the institute increased significantly.
In the office, Lin Tang was concentrating on writing a report. Since they had to wait for her to finish her work and go to the lab to do the tests, Ying Yu sat aside and waited for her.
He was a person who could not sit still. Once he stopped, he would start looking for something to do. If he couldn't find anything, he would start looking for someone to chat with. But at this moment, there was only one person around him, so his chat partner naturally fell on Lin Tang.
Seeing that she was quite at ease, Ying Yu didn't dare to bother her: "Boss, is F country fun?"
No response was received.
"Didn't you agree to come back after the meeting? Why did you stay a few days longer? It's not like you anymore."
After all, Lin Tang had always returned to the city immediately after completing his mission when he was on a business trip before. This was the first time he saw her say that she wanted to stay and play for two days.
But this sentence still received no response. Looking at Lin Tang who was finishing the report and was printing it, Ying Yu sighed helplessly and said sadly: "Ah, it's different when you go abroad. You don't like to talk to people anymore."
The next second, a stack of materials was thrown at him. When he caught it steadily, he saw Lin Tang walking away and saying, "If you keep talking nonsense, I'll keep you working overtime tonight."
Ying Yu fell silent. He quickly followed her footsteps and said awkwardly, "Boss, you've been married for so long that you've really started to talk like a capitalist."
Once again, he was scared away by Lin Tang's look.
When he arrived at the laboratory, Lin Tang realized that he had not taken off the ring. Because it was inconvenient to do the simulation with it on, Lin Tang took it off and put it in his pocket first.
This action was noticed by Ying Yu, who clicked his tongue twice: "Boss, it's very dazzling."
Lin Tang glanced at him and said, "What do you know? This is a life-saving talisman."
After knowing what little tricks were hidden inside the ring, and after the Jin family almost succeeded in getting her last time, she really used it as a life-saving talisman.
However, when these words fell into Ying Yu's ears, they obviously took on a different meaning: "Why don't I understand? This ring is worth millions at first glance. It can really save my life for the rest of my life."
Lin Tang replied angrily: "Shut up, I have nothing to say to you."
The lab was lit with warm light, so I didn't feel cold while doing the simulations. But as soon as I walked into the corridor, the cold air suddenly blew out.
Lin Tang had already taken off her lab coat and couldn't help shivering as she came out. She rubbed her arms and said, shivering with cold, "Can't the corridor be air-conditioned?"
Ying Yuchong clasped his fists at her and said, "We just had a meeting last month about avoiding cross contamination."
Lin Tang shrugged: "Oh, it's not even a joke."
Suddenly, a coat was put on from behind.
