Chapter Thirty-Four

Chapter Thirty-Four

Xu Weiwei gently rubbed her hands and said, "It seems that's true. I've thought about it more deeply, and I think I'm still quite bothered by the house collapse."

I like anime characters because I never have to worry about them collapsing. But people I like in real life always seem to fall apart.

I'm actually not very optimistic about love. I saw a couple who were very loving. They had a child after marriage, but as time went on, the woman stopped talking to the man and would even tell the child, "It's all for you that I'm not getting a divorce."

The man was the same; he didn't have much to say to the woman. But they used to be a couple who could talk about anything. Their friends were so fed up with their clingy behavior that they rolled their eyes and complained, but the couple wouldn't listen and continued to do as they pleased.

But later it evolved into this: you become someone who can talk about anything with friends, but doesn't want to say a word to your lover. This kind of emotional shift is really common.

I find it sad that friendships can go from bad to good, but love can't. Once it goes bad, it just keeps going bad. Even if it's temporarily repaired and things get better, it will eventually go bad again.

Why can love be so fragile? I find it so sad. But I can understand. Like when I see a young couple, the woman is beautiful, the man is handsome, and he's very dependent on her, always following behind her, I think how sweet it is! How wonderful.

However, there was an elderly couple. The old man was walking behind the old woman. The old woman was unsteady on her feet and walked unsteadily, but the old man kept using her as a cane.

I found it terrifying; it gave off a feeling of vampire-sucking. The old woman is so old, yet she still acts like a mother to her husband.

This is my intuitive feeling. The people involved may not have such thoughts, and may even be destined to grow old together. But what I felt was not love, but rather an atmosphere of exploitation and repression. The atmosphere was not pleasant at all.

I used to think, does good love have to be something only young people can have? Are older people not worthy of love? Later, I realized that it's not a matter of age, but a matter of people.

If these two elderly people are holding hands, I might find the scene very heartwarming and loving, and I would really like it.

I suddenly realized that relationships require a balance of power; it can't be a one-sided effort. You have to be the best opponent, not the best teammate.

Because being teammates and fighting side by side requires enemies, what if one day we can't find enemies anymore and we no longer have a common goal? Does that mean it's time to break up?

But the best opponent is different; it's a lifelong battle. You might win today, I might win tomorrow, but who will win in the end? That's an unknown.

The unknown is full of variables, and these variables bring interest, challenges but not despair, and hope but not too ease.

There must be a match; one side cannot be strong and the other weak. Otherwise, the outcome is predetermined and unchangeable, and the strong will always defeat the weak.

Even if the weaker player wins a few times, it might be because the stronger player deliberately let them win, or because they were careless and lost by accident.

This is all because the stronger one wasn't paying attention and was distracted, which led to this situation.

However, the situation is completely different when facing an evenly matched opponent. You generally don't dare to be distracted; if you lose focus, you're likely to lose.

Failure is a bitter experience, and no one truly enjoys it. Simply learning from failure and extracting useful information may seem like acceptance, but in reality, it means there's nothing else to do.

Once someone realizes that even a small mistake could lead to a bad outcome, they will be more careful and learn to be more cautious.

Li Nan shook her head and said, "Your thinking is too extreme. Have you been playing too many video games? How could you think that you have to be competitive with each other in a relationship?"

Being lifelong comrades-in-arms sometimes doesn't require defeating bad guys, but rather overcoming all the small setbacks and difficulties you encounter in life. There will always be someone by your side willing to lend a helping hand and get through it together.

And you are not alone. My parents are like that too. They are lifelong comrades-in-arms, fighting side by side, with perfect understanding, and have never quarreled.

It can only be said that you have gone astray in love and have developed a prejudice against it. There is not only one right way of love. Even a strong-weak rivalry can exist and be a very good kind of love.

Different people are suited to different relationship patterns. Some people feel that being controlled by their lover for a lifetime is a very happy thing. Even what clothes they wear is decided by their lover. They are willing to spend time and energy on this and can completely accept it. It is acceptable to lose the initiative under the premise of love.

However, some people can't stand it. They can't accept a partner who is too controlling, who asks about their schedule every day, and acts like they're catching a bad guy. They feel their privacy is invaded and they feel they have no freedom at all. They hate it and, over time, they want to break up because being together is too painful.

What is poison to one person may be honey to another. What you particularly dislike may be what someone else particularly likes. There is no need to deny any kind of relationship model. As long as it exists, it is reasonable.

Just as the person is more important than the method, success is full of uncertainty and chance. Some popular TV series and movies will be said to have become popular if the actors were changed, because the script is better.

No, it's the result of perfect timing, location, and people. Changing the actors wouldn't work. Even if the script is really good, if the actors are changed, the great chemistry we have now might not be possible.

Moreover, actors don't always follow the script exactly. Different actors, even with the same script, will produce completely different results, each incorporating their own interpretation and understanding of the character.

In a sense, every actor who plays that role is also a screenwriter, writing a lot of random and nonsensical scripts for their own characters.

Just like a wildfire is a matter of fate, with the same amount of resources, some people can become famous, while others can never rise to prominence.

Xu Weiwei nodded and said, "That's true. It depends on fate. But I think my understanding of love is correct. Everyone has different views, which is normal. I can't say you're wrong, it's just that I don't think like you."

Li Xiangxiang anxiously reported to Li Jiayi, "President Li, I just saw Brother Xiang Shen standing at the main entrance, he'll be here soon, but the person Director Wang sent in hasn't arrived yet. What should we do now? Should we make Brother Xiang Shen wait?"

Lin Xiangshen barged in with a large group of people, and Xu Jia was the most obsequious one, carrying a small fan to blow on Lin Xiangshen as they walked.

Lin Xiangshen happened to come in and overheard this conversation. He frowned and said, "No matter who it is, it's done. If a contract has been signed, I'll pay the penalty for breach of contract. I don't want to see this person on set. Now, let's start recording. I'm in a hurry; the sooner we start work, the sooner we can get off."

Li Jiayi was overjoyed, finally having an excuse to get rid of a huge burden. She said happily, "Little Li, you're here too. Did you hear what you told Brother Shen? Remember, go and tell Director Wang to tell that arrogant guy not to come over again."

If Director Wang says anything, just say it's what Brother Shen wanted to hear. If Director Wang wants to stay in the industry, he won't bother with you anymore.

"Oh, right, quickly send someone to call the guests from the common lounge over. We need to get filming started as soon as possible, so let's not rest any longer."

Li Xiangxiang nodded obediently and said, "Okay, Mr. Li, I'll go right away."

Xu Jia snorted coldly and scolded, "Who do you think you are, daring to be late and having to wait for my Shenbao's order to kick you out? Don't you have any sense? Don't you know how to kick people out in advance?"

Lin Xiangshen slapped Xu Jia and complained, "Keep your voice down, you're so noisy, my ears are starting to hurt from all the noise."

Xu Jia's face instantly broke into a smile. He knelt down halfway, picked up the hand that had just slapped his own face, gently blew on it, and deliberately raised his voice to say softly, "I'm sorry, Shenbao, it was my fault. Doesn't your hand hurt? If you want to slap me, just say so. I can slap myself. Don't tire yourself out."

Lin Xiangshen closed his eyes, slapped Xu Jia three times with his backhand, and frowned, saying, "Shut up, it's so noisy."

Xu Jia's smile deepened, showing no dissatisfaction whatsoever, but rather an expression of enjoyment. This made Li Jiayi feel extremely uncomfortable. No matter how many times she saw it, she was never used to Xu Jia's sycophantic behavior.

After all, Xu Jia is her big boss. He's usually incredibly sharp-tongued and quick to scold people, and she's been scolded countless times. But in front of Lin Xiangshen, Xu Jia always seems to have a very good temper. The contrast is just too great.

After Lin Xiangshen said something about making a fuss, the scene immediately went into silence. Almost no one moved; everyone stayed in place, not saying a word, trying not to make any noise.

After all, the staff who get to work on this variety show have signed confidentiality agreements and receive high salaries. The most important clause is that they cannot offend Lin Xiangshen.

If you offend Lin Xiangshen, you'll be fired. It's not easy to have a job with little work and high pay. Other groups recording variety shows would stay up all night, but here, you never stay up all night and you can leave work on time.

If filming isn't finished today, it'll be postponed to tomorrow; overtime is out of the question. Such a down-to-earth production team is a breath of fresh air in the entertainment industry, extremely rare—you'll miss out if you don't join them.

Li Xiangxiang called Director Wang and told him that since he was late, the female celebrity who had been brought in didn't need to come. Just as Li Jiayi had expected, Director Wang was not convinced, but after she brought up Lin Xiangshen, Director Wang quickly backed down and even apologized.

The stark difference between his previous and current demeanor made her realize that Lin Xiangshen was truly formidable.
