Chapter 296 The Evil Ones Complain First
The white exterior walls of the single-family villa shine brightly in the evening sun. This supposedly comfortable residence is no longer as peaceful as before.
The sirens outside were getting closer and closer, rushing to the scene.
Several police cars braked suddenly outside the villa, and special vehicles arrived behind them.
Led by Jack and his two companions, they formed a tactical formation and cautiously approached the building, which might still hide dangers.
But it was too late. Zhang Mingjun and his gang on the phone had disappeared like ghosts in the chaotic scene, leaving them with only silence and unknown panic facing the scene.
Jack and his two companions entered the scene cautiously, seriousness and vigilance written on everyone's face. They looked everywhere for clues, but it seemed that all the normal clues had been cleared away, leaving only traces of the gunfight and invasion.
The outer wall of the villa was riddled with bullet holes, the flowers in the garden were trampled beyond recognition, broken flower pots were scattered on the grass, splattered gravel and dirt were everywhere, and there were several pools of undried blood.
Jack and the other two looked at the villa itself. It was obvious that the windows on the first floor had been pierced by bullets, leaving mottled bullet holes. Several pieces of glass were shattered into pieces, and the glass fragments were scattered all over the ground, reflecting the bloodstains on the ground.
The air was filled with the smell of gunpowder and a faint smell of blood.
The door leading to the living room of the villa was guarded by Quan Zaijun and his men, and Jack and his party were stopped immediately when they entered.
"All long?" Jack frowned after being stopped by Quan Zaijun and his men, "Here."
"As you can see," Jeon Jae-jun said expressionlessly, "terrorists attacked this villa, causing heavy casualties."
After Jack was silent, Jiang Zhentai, a local policeman, spoke up, "Captain, can you let us in to investigate?"
"This matter is extremely serious," Jeon Jae-jun narrowed his eyes, "No one is allowed to enter without the permission of President Nim."
"Chairman Li is here?" Jiang Zhentai took a breath, "Isn't this the residence of Councillor Kim Yong-soo?"
"The chairman wanted to discuss something with Councillor Kim, but when he arrived, he found that Councillor Kim had already been killed," Jeon Jae-jun said indifferently, lowering his eyes. "This group of terrorists even used this place as bait and launched an attack on us."
"Congressman Kim was murdered, Chairman Lee was assassinated." Jiang Zhentai's eyes went dark, and he forced a smile, "I'm a police officer in Seoul."
"Minister," the security guard from Jinmen ran out and conveyed the order to Quan Zaijun, "The chairman said that the three of them can go in."
The police from Pochuan City were waiting outside, like doormen.
Jack and the other two passed through the main gate and entered the villa.
Inside the villa, the luxurious decoration that Kim Yong-soo was once proud of now seemed particularly ironic. The crystal chandelier was still swaying in the air, swaying uneasy light and shadows, and there were messy bullet holes on the surface of the furniture.
In the living room, several famous paintings on the walls had been shot through, and fragments of the artworks were scattered on the expensive carpet, which was stained with dark blood.
Kinmen security personnel stood like sculptures in various places in the spacious living room, their eyes like sharp blades, guarding every corner.
The air in the living room was filled with a tense and solemn atmosphere, and even time seemed to stand still at this moment.
The three of them seemed to have become prey trapped in an invisible cage. They could only move cautiously and slowly approach Li You's position. Their eyes seemed to be able to penetrate people's hearts.
The light in the living room was just right, neither glaring nor dim, and it shone on Li You's face with an almost sculptural and cold beauty.
Even Jack feels inferior to him.
Li Youan sat on the sofa, his posture calm, a barely perceptible amusement in his eyes, as he looked at them.
The three of them looked left and right, and finally Jack walked up to him, took a deep breath, and respectfully asked what happened, "President Li, can you let go of the guard and let us conduct the search?"
"Or tell us the specific details here?"
The sound was particularly clear in the quiet air, and every word was like a stone thrown into a deep pool, causing ripples.
Li You's mouth corners slightly raised, but his eyes were still unfathomable, "What do you want to know?"
His voice was not loud, but it echoed in the empty living room.
Jiang Zhentai opened his mouth to speak, but was troubled by Li You's half-smile, and he didn't know how to start for a moment. The other two also stood there, and the atmosphere fell into an awkward silence.
Looking at the three people who were somewhat embarrassed, Li Youcai slowly shook his head.
"Jaejun has already told you the general situation," Li You said with a serious expression, gently tapping the corpses on the ground with his fingers. The outlines covered by white cloth vaguely revealed the fragility of life.
"It has been confirmed that it was Zhang Mingjun's gang. Two Kinmen security guards died, and the injured have been sent to the hospital," Li You frowned. "Seven people in Zhang Mingjun's gang died, and the rest have now escaped."
His words were concise and heavy, and every word seemed to strike at the hearts of Jack and the other two.
Jack's brows were furrowed, as if water could be squeezed out of them, but Li You's words were full of unquestionable authority. Jack asked tentatively, "Chairman Li, did Zhang Mingjun and the others escape?"
"What do you think it would be like?" Li You said without even looking at them. "It's already good enough for us unarmed security personnel to fight to the death to replace a few of them."
Not all the bodies on the ground were there. In fact, there were more people killed in Zhang Mingjun's group, but most of those who were shot to death were taken away, leaving only a few bodies, including those who were beaten to death in close combat.
"President Nim, I don't know." Jack naturally heard something strange. He pointed at the body covered by a white cloth on the ground and asked, "Can we check it out?"
Jack's words fell into silence in the entire living room. Li You's eyes were deep, and he did not respond immediately. Instead, he got up from the sofa and slowly walked towards the corpses.
He signaled the Kinmen security personnel to begin to uncover the white cloth one by one. Each face was frozen at the moment before death, with solemn expressions, telling of the final despair.
Jack watched the scene in silence. After all the bodies appeared in front of him, he spoke, "A forensic doctor will examine them later. President Li, this way."
"Okay," Li You nodded, "I'm ready to go to the Pochuan City Hall. The Pochuan City Government needs to give me an explanation for this matter. I'll leave the matters here to you."
Jack's eyes flickered, realizing that Li You was going to settle accounts with the local people. He nodded without expressing any opinion.
When Li You led his men away, the policemen bowed their heads and saluted as Li You passed by. Their movements were surprisingly uniform until Li You and the Kinmen Group got into the car.
Li You's trip was not only to get an explanation, but also to put pressure on the Pochuan City Hall and force them to make concessions.
The car started slowly, and the sound of tires rolling over the road was heard. Li You's figure quickly retreated outside the car window. He sat in the back seat with his elbows leaning lightly against the car window.
In the villa, after Li You left, Lin Zheling immediately squatted beside the corpse. Jiang Zhentai was tactful enough to turn on the light in the living room, but the light in the living room seemed unusually gloomy, illuminating the corpse lying quietly on the cold and hard floor.
"Actually, the forensic doctor will be here soon."
Jiang Zhentai's words did not affect Lin Zheling. He squatted beside one of the corpses, his eyes focused and calm. He held the dead body with his calloused fingers and checked the bullet holes on the dead body.
"The bodies here were not shot," Jack squatted on the other side and called out to Zhe Lin Zhe Ling.
At that moment, in addition to Lin Zheling, even Jiang Zhentai came over.
They found that the bodies did not have gunshot wounds, but instead had several obvious fractures, which meant they had suffered severe blows. Lin Zheling's eyes revealed a barely perceptible heaviness, as these bodies were all his descendants.
"I'll go check other things," Jiang Zhentai sighed, stood up and said, "You guys study these first."
He was just an ordinary policeman, and he really couldn't get used to seeing so many pale corpses, not to mention the strong smell of blood.
Jiang Zhentai called a policeman to follow him and began to search the villa. The items in the living room were scattered all over the floor. The edges and corners of the furniture and the fragments of artworks all told of this sudden tragedy.
His eyes swept over the details again, trying to find clues from the chaos. Every tiny trace might reveal the circumstances of the crime.
"This is..." Jiang Zhentai saw a winding trace, like a wet mop dragged across the ground.
Jiang Zhentai followed the traces and found the bathroom on the first floor. The bathtub was full of water, with some snot and other things floating in it.
"Ah Xi." Jiang Zhentai subconsciously felt a little disgusted. A light sound of footsteps came from behind him. Jack also frowned when he arrived. "This is..."
Jack quickly responded, "A lot of Kim Yong-soo's clothes were soaking wet."
"You mean," Jiang Zhentai said with some uneasiness, "he was tortured here?"
Jack nodded, his face still expressionless, but a hint of surprise flashed in his eyes, "It should be."
But soon the two of them thought of the same thing, but they didn't bring it up. Jack even walked forward and took the initiative to drain the water in the bathtub.
The two of them returned to the living room tacitly, and the entire living room was once again filled with a tense and uneasy atmosphere.
Many police officers may never see such a crime scene in their lifetime, and they are trying their best to remain calm.
Only the forensic doctor was better. The trained forensic doctor seemed much calmer. The assistant next to him wrote down the details the forensic doctor said, which were the key points recorded in the case files later.
The forensic assistant carefully recorded every detail, fearing that he would miss any useful information.
Jiang Zhentai soon couldn't stay still anymore. He carefully moved between the rooms, searching for any possible clues.
But this time he found nothing, and when he returned to the living room, the forensic doctor had already completed a preliminary examination of the bodies.
"A total of fourteen bodies," Jack said, holding the report in his hand and looking at Jiang Zhentai and Lin Zheling, "All five people present in the family of Councillor Kim Yongsu were killed."
"Among the other nine bodies, two were members of the Kinmen security force, and the cause of death was a gunshot wound to the head."
"What's more strange is that some of the bodies," the forensic doctor added, "seemed to have been hit by some heavy object."
The medical examiner also knew the seriousness of the matter, and his voice was filled with seriousness and urgency.
"Someone beat them," Lin Zheling had been silent until now, just staring at one of the bodies, and suddenly spoke at this moment.
"Human?" The forensic doctor was stunned for two seconds, "Of course I know it was a human who beat me up."
"Alright, alright," Jiang Zhentai said to stop them. "It must have been someone who beat him up. Forensic Doctor Zhang, you go out first."
After watching the medical examiner and his assistant leave, Jiang Zhentai continued, "What we need to worry about now is not the cause of their death, but where Zhang Mingjun went."
"Zhang Mingjun." Lin Zheling clenched his fists and shook his head. "From here, I can't see any clues about Zhang Mingjun."
"Let them clean up the scene first," Jack sighed. "President Li is obviously going to make a big deal out of this. Soon there will be paparazzi here."
In the evening in the border city of Pochuan, the afterglow in the sky is as red as blood, dyeing the sky a layer of orange.
In front of the Pocheon City Hall, the lights are just coming on. The building is not tall, but now there is a huge crowd of people. Media reporters, holding microphones and cameras, are crowded in the square in front of the City Hall, vying to capture the upcoming figure of Li You.
Immediately after the attack, Li You contacted many media outlets in Seoul and asked them to come to the gate of Pacheon City Hall.
Although the Pocheon City Police Department sent a large number of police officers, the media did not follow them because they were waiting for Li You's arrival.
A row of black cars drove slowly and stopped steadily in front of the steps.
The car door opened, and Li You did not appear in front of everyone in a suit and tie as before, but was wearing a white shirt with a lot of dust on it, which caused a slight commotion in the crowd.
Li You walked out slowly with a frown on his face. Every step he took seemed steady and powerful. The reporters' flashlights kept flashing, the shutter sounds came one after another, and a tense rhythm began to rise.
Li You didn't hesitate at all. He walked directly to the steps and looked at the many microphones below. "I know you must be full of doubts about this matter. I am here to tell you the truth."
Li You's voice is clear and magnetic, and every word seems to be well thought out.
As he answered the questions, his eyes swept over every reporter present, and their faces flashed before his eyes.
The evening breeze blew by, bringing a hint of coolness, but it could not cover up the warm atmosphere on the scene.
"What is he doing?" The mayor of Pochuan City stood in the city hall building, looking at him through the window, his voice suppressing anger, "How much public opinion this will cause, doesn't he know?"
"Mayor Nim," the secretary beside him lowered his head, "The police gave us the news. Many people died, including Councillor Kim Yong-soo's family."
The mayor took two steps back and his vision began to go dark. Fortunately, his secretary was quick to support him.
"Shit." The mayor stared out the window in a daze.
The steps in front of City Hall have turned into a press conference.
Li You lowered his eyes and told the reporters what happened in the afternoon. His words were steady and slow, and every word seemed to carry a heavy burden. "You should all know that the Pacheon City Police Department dispatched a lot of police officers this afternoon."
"This matter is related to me."
He looked around with a vigilant look, as if danger might appear at any time.
Li You's expression was heavy, and his voice was a little helpless, but more heavy. "I agreed with Kim Yong-soo, a councillor from Pacheon City, today that I would go to him this afternoon to discuss some things. I didn't expect..."
"When we arrived at Councilman Kim's home, he had already been killed."
"Councilman Kim Yong-soo was murdered?"
"How exactly was Councillor Kim murdered?"
Questions came one after another, as if to drown Li You.
The reporters rushed forward like sharks smelling blood. If it weren't for the Kinmen security guards blocking them, the microphones and cameras would probably have been stuck to Li You's face.
The reporters knew all the important figures in most parts of the Korean Peninsula by heart, and they pleaded and began asking questions non-stop.
"I know you are anxious," Li You sighed and shook his head, with a trace of sadness in his eyes, "but we just arrived and we were attacked by another criminal organization. They used guns and tried to assassinate me."
"Two members of Kinmen Security lost their lives to protect me," Li You's voice sounded particularly heavy in the tense atmosphere.
The flashes continued. Li You nodded at them after he finished speaking. "Everyone can go to the crime scene and take a look. It's at Councillor Kim's house."
While packing up their things, the reporters took out their phones to call their superiors, and some even began writing news content on the spot.
