Chapter 11 Yuan and Cui Jin fight
Cui Qingyi had expected Konjac's reaction. After all, Konjac had grown up with her and was more or less influenced by her.
She couldn't stay in an environment like that of the Cui family and the Chen family, and naturally Konjac couldn't stay there either.
Seeing that the smile on Cui Qingyi's face had not faded, and knowing that she and the young lady were not paupers, and that they would not have to live on the streets for a while, Konjac's mood also became excited.
This was a private room on the passenger ship, and there was no one who was annoying her. Konjac originally wanted to ask Cui Qingyi why she had to make her relationship with the Cui family so difficult, but the thought only flashed through her mind for a moment before she figured it out herself.
Yuan only had her son Cui Wenxu in her heart, and completely regarded the young lady as a commodity that could be exchanged for benefits. If the young lady had not been prepared this time, not only would they not be able to leave Linshui smoothly, but both the master and the servant would probably have been sold out by now.
Yuan is the young lady's biological mother. Even if the young lady doesn't want to, no one will care. The government will not care about such matters.
If the young lady doesn't lay the matter out in the open and resolve it, and Yuan's plan fails this time, there will be another time. By then, they may not be as lucky as they are this time, and they will have nowhere to complain.
After figuring out the key points, Konjac broke out in a cold sweat and was very grateful for his good luck.
The guest room that Cui Qingyi rented was next to the window. When she opened the window, a gentle breeze carrying moisture blew in. In her previous life, Cui Qingyi lived far inland. When spring turned to summer, the sky was full of yellow sand, and there was often no rain for two or three months. She didn't expect that the place where she lived in this life was not only rich in rivers, but she could also see the sea if she walked further away.
From time to time, you can hear the sounds of guests and ship staff talking outside the guest room. It doesn't sound annoying at all, but rather very lively.
The master and servant in the house exchanged a few words from time to time, and in the blink of an eye, the sun set.
Cui Qingyi had been eating the simplest meals in the inn these days out of fear that Yuan would find out she was spending money lavishly. Now, when she heard the waiter outside announcing that there was fresh fish for sale, she immediately felt hungry.
Looking at Konjac who was sitting opposite her, her originally chubby cheeks had become thinner after living in poverty for so many days.
It happened that a waiter came to the guest room and asked what dishes they wanted for dinner. Cui Qingyi ordered a fish that had just been caught that night. The fish was very delicious after being simply steamed. Together with some cold seasonal vegetables, the two of them had a full meal.
Cui Qingyi touched her belly with satisfaction. She grew up here until she was nineteen years old. When she was at her mother's house, Yuan only let her eat until she was seven-tenths full, in order to help her develop a slender figure. Even if it was a dish she liked, if she ate two more bites at the dinner table, she would be accused of indulging in her appetite.
When they arrived at the Chen family, the situation was not much better than that of the Cui family.
Cui Qingyi felt sorry for herself when she thought about it. She was afraid that there was no other person in the world who had traveled through time and space and was worse off than her.
The passenger ship sailed down the river. Dongping County, where they were going, was at the southernmost part of Qinghe City. It would take three days for the passenger ship to arrive.
Cui Mansion
Cui Jin suffered a great deal of anger from Cui Zha. Not only did he lose face, he was almost expelled from the clan. When he walked out of the county government office, he saw that County Magistrate Liang was not treating him the same as before.
Cui Jin was very angry. When he returned home, he saw Cui Wenxu, who was supposed to be studying in the academy at this time, chasing several little girls around the yard.
Cui Wenxu was dressed in a peach-colored robe, his eyes covered by a handkerchief that belonged to some maid. He waved his arms and searched for something, shouting, "Sisters, don't run. The young master is coming."
Cui Jin is a romantic man, but this kind of romanticism is extremely conspicuous when applied to his son.
When Cui Jin thought about how he had been so upset today, yet still had the audacity to recommend Cui Wenxu to Mr. Wu, the fire in his chest burned more and more fiercely.
Cui Wenxu's servant had noticed Cui Jin as soon as he came in. Just as he was about to shout at Cui Wenxu to stop, Cui Jin gave him a vicious look and he was nailed to the spot and dared not speak.
Although he was a servant assigned to Cui Wenxu by Yuan, a servant was still a servant. His indentures were held by his master, and he would have a hard time if he offended his master.
Several maids were frightened by Cui Jin's appearance and quickly hid aside. Only Cui Wenxu in the center of the field was unaware of this. He stretched out his arms and suddenly hugged the person in front of him, but he felt something was wrong as soon as he got closer.
There was no such a strong and sturdy maid in his own yard. He did not get the advantage in a fair and open way. Cui Wenxu pulled off the blindfold in dissatisfaction. Just as he was about to curse the blind man for daring to tease him, a loud slap landed on his face.
Cui Wenxu was thin, but Cui Jin was very plump. He swung his arm and slapped Cui Wenxu, who turned three times on the spot and then fell to the ground with a thud.
There was a sound of inhalation all around, Cui Wenxu opened his mouth blankly and spat out two bloody teeth.
Then, a series of earth-shaking howling sounds were heard in the courtyard of Cui's mansion, which frightened the cats and dogs passing by the mansion so much that their fur stood on end, and the birds resting in the trees flapped their wings and fled far away.
In the backyard, where the concubines lived, someone came out with a needlework basket to watch the fun. The courtyard of the Cui Mansion was not big. Except for the head wife Yuan, who had her own separate courtyard, the concubines lived very close to each other. On weekdays, Cui Jin made a lot of trouble, but at this time, they could still chat with each other:
"Look, there's another good show to watch today."
"Yes, judging by the crying sound, it's almost certain."
.....
Cui Wenxu was beaten in the front yard. Yuan soon got the news and rushed to the front yard with her hair loose, without even bothering to clean herself up.
When he saw Cui Wenxu slumped on the ground with some bloodstains in front of him, his eyes immediately turned red.
She didn't care about her dignity as the mistress of the house. She rushed over and grabbed Cui Wenxu, shouting repeatedly: "My son, what's wrong with you? Tell me where it hurts."
When Cui Wenxu saw his mother, he knew his backer had arrived, and he cried even louder. The mother and daughter looked as if their father had died, and Cui Jin's forehead was throbbing with rage.
Over the years, Yuan treated Cui Wenjin like the apple of her eye. Cui Jin also remembered that Yuan had taught Cui Qingyi very well, making her well-educated, well-mannered and modest.
He thought that although Yuan had a bad temper, she was the wife after all and was quite capable of educating children, so he felt at ease to leave Cui Wenxu to her care.
In the past, Yuan also said that Cui Wenxu was sensible and good at studying.
But after seeing him today, Cui Wenxu behaved like a typical playboy, and he didn't look like someone who could achieve anything.
Yuan and Cui Jin had a big fight at home. Yuan was a person who would not suffer any loss, and coupled with the slap Cui Wenxu received, the couple started fighting after a disagreement.
The maids and servants in the house had never seen their master so disregarding his image. By the time they reacted and stepped forward to separate them, Cui Jin's face had been scratched by Yuan, leaving several bloody marks. Yuan had also been slapped several times by Cui Jin, and blood was oozing from the corners of her mouth.
When she was pulled away, Yuan was still shouting that she wanted to go to Liang County Magistrate and Cui Zha to seek an explanation.
