25: Everything you have belongs to me, so don't do anything to make me unhappy.
"You hit me again! You haven't come up with anything new in all these years!" Shang Zhi kicked her legs back, but it was no use; he held her firmly in his grasp.
"This method is most effective for disobedient children, isn't it?"
"I was just having coffee with Yu Qing, and you're going to hit me too!"
"Then why don't you tell the truth?"
Shang Zhi was stumped by Pei Yanxiu's question and couldn't answer it for a moment, so she received several more slaps on her bottom.
"Let's go home first."
He finally helped her up, but the bumpy ride in the car seat made it very uncomfortable for Shang Zhi, who had been hit. She couldn't avoid the waves of pain coming from where she was sitting, no matter how she moved.
"My stomach hurts again, you can't bully me anymore. I don't dare to tell you the truth because you're always so fierce." When they got home, Shang Zhi nestled on the sofa, her slender legs crossed and nestled in his lap.
"Really? Then why are you drinking iced coffee?"
“Iced coffee doesn’t hurt my stomach,” Shang Zhi retorted softly, earning a glare from the person in front of her.
"Why do you follow me around all the time? Doesn't Wan Jia have anything for you to worry about? Wouldn't it be better if we were both a little more independent?"
"not good."
"Everything you have belongs to me, Xixi."
"Don't do anything that makes me unhappy."
"If I find you misbehaving again, I'll lock you up and make sure you can't go anywhere, understand?"
Pei Yanxiu gently pressed his temples, and his imposing aura, though not meant to be angry, made Shang Zhi uneasy. She couldn't tell if he was telling the truth or just trying to scare her.
"Are you kidding me?"
"You can try to see if I'm joking. My patience has its limits, Xixi. I didn't tell you I was going to see you today because I wanted to surprise you, but you surprised me first."
Pei Yanxiu reached out and loosened his tie. His long, clean hands, with their clearly visible veins, were quite beautiful.
"Do you have to do this? You always threaten me!" Shang Zhi couldn't help but protest. This man was such a jerk. He made all those promises before the marriage, but now he's denying everything!
“This is not a threat, Sisi.”
"It's education."
A wicked smile curled at the corner of his mouth, and Shang Zhi was so embarrassed by his words that she turned her head away from him.
But he had no intention of letting her go so easily. He carried her into the room, and before Shang Zhi could react, her clothes were torn open and thrown aside.
"If the mouth above doesn't behave, then punish the lower part, okay?"
Shang Zhi wanted to scold him, but soon she was speechless.
I stayed up all night.
......
Because of the long night, Shang Zhi slept until almost noon the next day, while Pei Yanxiu had as much energy as ever and got up early to deal with work.
Shang Zhi felt her legs were weak, her buttocks hurt, and her whole body ached.
I was lounging lazily in my chair, wondering whether I should go to the office today.
"Azhi, I want to ask you something. There's a problem with the performance venue. Do you have any information about it?" Just then, Yu Qing called, sounding anxious.
"What? Yu Qing, explain yourself clearly?"
"The venue we booked for the performance has been canceled, so I'm looking for other options."
Shang Zhi had a bad feeling.
Pei Yanxiu warned her yesterday that Yu Qing's venue couldn't be used today. Is there such a coincidence in the world?
"Yu Qing, don't worry, I'll go ask for you."
She's going to ask if that old man was behind it all. Has he really become so shameless that he'd even try to sabotage other people's jobs?
They just went to have a cup of coffee, they didn't do anything else!
Shang Zhi asked the driver to take her to Wan Jia. When she pushed open the door to Pei Yanxiu's office, there was still someone inside reporting to him.
In her anger, she acted recklessly and confronted him directly: "Pei Yanxiu, what exactly do you want to do!"
The two people inside were also stunned. Pei Yanxiu gently closed the document in his hand and waved for the others to leave.
"What's wrong?"
"Stop pretending! Did you tamper with Yu Qing's performance venue behind the scenes?!"
"Why do you think it's me?" Pei Yanxiu's eyes darkened after he understood her purpose.
She actually suspected and questioned her husband because of another man. She could feel how much effort he had put into her over the years, and even if he really did it, she shouldn't be helping an outsider to deal with her.
"Who else could it be but you?"
Pei Yanxiu snorted softly to himself.
But it's not her fault. She's too naive. Those men outside are too bad and too good at pretending. His Xixi is too kind; she can't see through them at all.
"You believe I did it, do you have any evidence?"
"Or is it just your own imagination?"
"That's just my guess."
"That was just something I thought of randomly."
"I didn't do it, you've got the wrong person."
How do you prove it?
"I didn't do it, that's all. How do you want me to prove it?" Pei Yanxiu was so angry that he laughed.
"It's best if you haven't done anything wrong. I'll go check now. If I find out you're involved, I'll never forgive you!" Having gotten nothing out of Pei Yanxiu, Shang Zhi stormed out. It wasn't that she was particularly protective of Yu Qing; she simply didn't like him interfering in her social life.
He's already meddled enough; he wants to control everything she eats and drinks so that innocent people around her won't be affected.
After Shang Zhi left, Pei Yanxiu asked his assistant to call in the senior executive who had just given a report to continue. He leaned back slightly, his tone still calm, but when he picked up the documents again, it was clear to everyone that he was not someone to be trifled with.
Xiao Shang can scold him like a dog, but they wouldn't dare. In this world, Xiao Shang is probably the only person who can scold him without any regard for the consequences, anytime and anywhere.
Shang Zhi went to the performance venue to find Yu Qing. There were several workers on the stage who seemed to be repairing something. Yu Qing was stunned. Shang Zhi walked to his side and gently patted his shoulder before he came back to his senses.
"What on earth happened?"
"The person in charge said that a fire broke out here last night. The fire was brought under control quickly, but some parts of the venue need to be renovated. It's not a big problem, but it will conflict with the performance time."
"Fire?"
Shang Zhi frowned slightly. If it was a fire, then it really had nothing to do with Pei Yanxiu. Creating such an easily out-of-control crisis was definitely not his style.
"Then, can we reschedule?"
Yu Qing didn't answer. Shang Zhi also knew that changing the date would have a significant impact. The tickets had already been sold in advance, and changing the date at the last minute would cause a lot of trouble for the audience and would also affect the reputation of the dance troupe.
"Yu Qing, don't worry, I'll go back and think of a solution for you."
"Thank you, Azhi. It's alright, it's just a performance. If it really doesn't work out, we can cancel it and refund everyone's tickets." Yu Qing forced a smile at Shang Zhi, pretending to be relaxed.
"It's fine."
Shang Zhi knew, of course, that he wasn't really alright; he was just out of options. Ruikang also had a performance venue, but the stage was a bit small and not very suitable.
Speaking of which, Wan Jia does have a venue that's similar to this one, but if we ask Pei Yanxiu for it, we don't know if he'll give it to us.
Shang Zhi regretted that she had acted impulsively today and shouldn't have made such a fuss to question him, which made it difficult for her to speak now.
But she really didn't want to see Yu Qing like this. Yu Qing had helped her a lot when they were in school, and now she hoped to help him as much as possible.
“Yu Qing, I have to go back. A friend of mine has a place that looks a lot like this. I’ll go ask him if I can borrow it.”
Do you need me to come along?
"No need, I can go by myself."
When Shang Zhi got home, Pei Yan was sitting at the bar looking at documents. She felt a little awkward because she had caused a scene at his company that morning and now she was asking him for a favor.
"Uncle Pei, would you like a drink?"
Shang Zhi thought to herself, "Get him drunk, and then make your request when he's in a daze. He'll be more likely to agree that way."
"You need something from me?" Pei Yanxiu seemed to be able to read minds. He could tell that Shang Zhi needed his help. He put down the documents in his hand and fixed his long, narrow black eyes on her.
"No, nothing, I just suddenly wanted to have a drink with you." Shang Zhi's hand trembled slightly as she picked up the wine glass under his gaze.
Shang Zhi took two glasses of ice from the refrigerator, poured half a glass of water-soluble C into each glass, then mixed in Blue Curio Liqueur to make the ice glasses a light blue. She then added grape juice, creating a pink and light blue hue that instantly gave the glasses a dreamy color.
"How is it? Not bad, right? I learned it when I was in Los Angeles." Shang Zhi took a sip herself and pushed the other cup in front of Pei Yanxiu.
"So, you used to go to bars a lot when you were in school?" Pei Yanxiu took the glass, picked it up and looked at it with interest. It was indeed very beautiful, but his gaze toward Shang Zhi carried a faint sense of pressure.
It appears to be concern, but it's actually interrogation.
He awaited her reply.
Shang Zhi felt extremely uncomfortable under his gaze, and regretted that she had been so stupid as to incriminate herself.
"No, I don't go often. It's just that sometimes when we have parties in the dorm, we learn some things that way."
