fierce
Ye Jia looked somewhat desperate, her face pale.
Sitting opposite her, Chu Nian was a little surprised by her reaction. Although she also felt it was a bit strange to be stared at by a handsome guy, Ye Jia seemed to be physically uncomfortable.
"Are you alright?" Chu Nian asked with concern.
Ye Jia shook her head slightly.
It's nothing, I'm just a little worried about it becoming a snack to go with drinks.
At this moment, Gu Anzhou stood up and said to Sister Chun, "Never mind, I'll just pack it up."
"Okay." Chun Jie sensed the awkward atmosphere and had no intention of keeping him. "How about shrimp today? The shrimp are plump today."
"Okay, thank you." He then left.
As soon as the person left, Chu Nian became curious: "What happened? Do you two know each other?"
Ye Jia quickly shook her head.
Before she could even finish her head movement, Chu Nian saw someone else come in and stand next to Ye Jia.
"Come to my shop for drinks tonight, it'll be on me, as an apology."
Ye Jia was taken aback, and then looked up at the man. She had noticed that he was quite tall that day, but seeing him sitting there today, he seemed even more like a mountain.
His expression was different from that day. His strong features still revealed a fierce feeling, but at least his brows were relaxed. He was expressionless, which was much more peaceful than last time.
But... invite her to the store? Treat her to a meal? Apologize?
I can't understand a single word.
The man walked out again, and this time Ye Jia watched him leave.
"You still say you don't know each other!" Chu Nian's voice brought her back to reality. "What's this about apologizing?"
"I don't know either." She genuinely didn't know.
Could it be that they tricked her into going there to kill her?
She saw him naked, so even if he forgave her mistake, he doesn't have to apologize to her, right?
Chu Nian said angrily, "You're not a good friend at all, hiding things from me! But we have to go together tonight, so don't even think about running away."
"Ah." It seems there's no escaping it now.
Ye Jia was a little embarrassed, but she didn't dislike Chu Nian's natural way of treating her as a friend. She had seen too many indifferent people and was almost frozen by them.
Gu Anzhou stood at the restaurant entrance, gazing at the sea for a while, before receiving his packaged boiled live shrimp, stir-fried vegetables, and a seafood fried noodle dish.
"Take care, Xiao Gu!"
"Okay." Gu Anzhou bowed slightly and walked back.
At first, he wasn't used to Sister Chun's warm hospitality, but the seafood was of very good quality and Sister Chun's husband was a good cook. After a few visits, he got used to the hospitality.
Even after he discovered that he had been on the island for a year and only Sister Chun was warm towards him, he felt a sense of gratitude towards her.
There are many customers in the bar, but not many are willing to talk to him, and only Sister Chun is as enthusiastic as him.
Gu Anzhou had thought about this issue. It was probably because everyone thought he was good at bartending, and they were also keenly aware of what had happened to him, so they wanted to keep their distance.
People naturally seek advantage and avoid harm. He stayed in that awful place for several years and became so corrupted that he didn't even recognize himself anymore. It's normal that people don't want to get close to him.
The girl was clearly terrified.
Perhaps he was awakened by the sudden sound, which made him seem a bit frightening.
He's not dangerous; he just wanted to make that point.
Ye Jia really had something to do tonight. The student who taught yesterday had booked another class for tonight because she thought Ye Jia's lectures were insightful and easy to understand.
After hearing this, Chu Nian said, "It's okay, it ends at nine o'clock, so let's go at nine o'clock."
"But I should go to sleep after class."
"You went to bed at nine o'clock?!" Chu Nian raised her voice in shock. "You're so health-conscious! What should we do then, are we really not going?"
Faced with this question, Ye Jia paused for a moment before saying, "It's not that I won't go."
He had already invited her, and although she couldn't understand why he wanted to apologize, his attitude was different from what she had expected. Besides, she was with someone now, so she should be able to ensure her safety.
"But you can be back before ten o'clock, right?"
"Uh." Wouldn't that be a wasted trip, plus we'd have to factor in travel time? Chu Nian suggested, "How about we leave the store at ten o'clock?"
Ye Jia nodded: "Okay."
As a result, the student kept asking her a few more questions, and Ye Jia also found these questions very interesting. Even if the other party did not pay her extra, she would still be willing to explain more to them, let alone the fact that the other party directly doubled her payment.
Students in big cities are really rich.
Chu Nian was so impatient she almost wanted to hang herself at her door. Finally, when Ye Jia came out, she grabbed her and rushed off. On the way, they even discussed returning at 10:30.
Ye Jia had no choice but to agree.
As soon as they entered the store, they saw the four girls who had come after them at lunchtime. It seemed that they had been lucky enough to occupy the last table again.
Chu Nian was very excited and pulled Ye Jia to sit at the bar.
This was Chu Nian's third time here, and each time she didn't quite understand why the bar counter, which she thought was the most sought-after spot, was often empty, while the other tables were always full.
But this is good, it's a good thing for her, she can admire her beauty up close.
The bar didn't employ anyone else; Gu Anzhou was the owner, bartender, and waiter all at the same time. While mixing drinks behind the bar, he took a moment to say to the two men, "Welcome! The menu is upstairs."
Ye Jia hadn't noticed it last time she came, but now when she looked up, she realized it was a blackboard, and the wine list was handwritten in the color of the sea, with bold and unrestrained handwriting.
She recognized the font; it was the same font on the menu of that husband-and-wife seafood restaurant.
Did he write it for the seafood restaurant? Or was it the other way around?
Judging from his appearance, the handwriting is as handsome as the man himself; it must have been written by him.
Ye Jia really liked his handwriting, and suddenly she didn't want to think that someone who wrote such beautiful handwriting was a bad person.
Chu Nian had actually wanted to ask him if he had written the words the first two times, but seeing that the boss was always busy and didn't seem to want to chat with customers, he didn't feel comfortable starting a conversation.
But today he came with the person he wanted to apologize to, so I thought we could have a chat and asked, "Did you write this?"
The boss kept his head down and didn't reply.
"..." Chu Nian suddenly felt embarrassed. Her aunt hadn't lied at all; she really was aloof and ignored people.
But I have to admit, my aunt said that just watching the handsome guy sitting there, mixing drinks, was indeed quite a sight to behold.
Chu Nian forgave him immediately.
Gu Anzhou mixed two drinks, walked out from behind the bar, and served them to the customers sitting in the corner. He then returned to the bar and looked at the two of them: "Have you made your choices?"
"I'll have a mojito first," Chu Nian said, explaining that it had been too hot walking and she wanted to cool off first.
Ye Jia didn't know what these wines tasted like, but each wine had its flavor profile written in small print, so she easily chose one: "I want Floating Green, thank you."
"Okay, please wait a moment."
Chu Nian watched as the owner turned and went into the back room, as if to get some uncommon ingredients. She then looked at the wine list and asked, "Bitter melon? You like wine with bitter melon flavor?"
"I've never tried it, so I don't know. I'd like to give it a try."
Ye Jia felt that when you come to a new place, you should try new things. Since she had never tried a cocktail in a bar, she wanted to try the most unique one.
"I've never tried it either, but I'm too scared to. It sounds really weird," Chu Nian asked the shop owner who had just come out. "Will it be very bitter?"
But after the boss brought out the bitter melon, he lowered his head and started washing it. The only response Chu Nian received was the music coming from the speakers above her head.
Chu Nian clenched her fist in anger and muttered to Ye Jia, "I'm never talking to him again! By the way, why don't you try asking him?"
You'll know the taste of wine once you taste it; there's no need to ask.
But Ye Jia was genuinely curious whether he had actually written the words, so she called out, "Boss."
There was no response.
Ye Jia had a feeling that he wasn't ignoring her on purpose, but that the music was too loud for her to hear, so she raised her voice a little: "Boss?"
"What?" He did indeed look up.
Ye Jia pointed to the blackboard above: "Did you write these words?"
"yes."
"oh oh."
"Any more questions?"
"...That's all." He seemed impatient, so even if Ye Jia had any questions, she didn't dare ask.
Gu Anzhou continued working, removing the seeds from the bitter melon. Before putting it into the juicer, he asked Ye Jia, "Do you want it to be more bitter or less bitter?"
"It's normal, right?" Ye Jia replied, and then she heard the juicer start working. Her gaze fell on the boss's face, and seeing that he was frowning, she immediately looked away.
He looked really fierce when he frowned.
Chu Nian, standing to the side, was still wondering if the handsome boss was deliberately ignoring her, unable to figure it out.
"I think he just didn't hear it." Ye Jia could tell that Chu Nian cared a lot, so she leaned close to her ear and said.
Chu Nian nodded. That was possible. But she had to admit, she understood why no one liked sitting at the bar anymore.
If you want to strike up a conversation with someone who's handsome but distant, you have to be mentally prepared. They might not even respond after you ask, and sitting there is just plain uncomfortable.
It's better to admire it from afar.
However, as an artist, Chu Nian needs to appreciate art up close. She needs to see every muscle and every subtle expression of the handsome man.
Okay, even though he didn't show much expression.
Gu Anzhou prepared the Floating Green and Mojito, placed them on coasters in front of the two people.
The coasters also have handwritten words that say "Lighthouse in the Fog Sea," along with drawings of waves and a lighthouse. The simple strokes feel very warm.
Ye Jia asked curiously, "Did you draw this too?"
Gu Anzhou was looking at her and nodded: "Yes."
"very beautiful."
"Thank you." After saying that, she lowered her head and went back to her work.
Chu Nian immediately realized it wasn't a matter of whether she could hear or not; Ye Jia hadn't spoken loudly, yet the boss had still answered her.
So it's a human problem?
"Why should he apologize to you?" Chu Nian asked.
Ye Jia tilted her head: "I don't know."
"You won't tell me? If you won't tell me, then I'll ask him." Chu Nian didn't know what the point of this threat was. She could already foresee the awkward situation where she asked him and he ignored her completely.
Ye Jia could tell that Chu Nian didn't really want to ask him, so he didn't stop her and took a sip of the beautifully green Fu Cui.
It wasn't as bitter as she had imagined. She doesn't actually like bitter melon, but since her family grows it, she can eat it. However, after taking a sip, she didn't find it bitter at all; she only tasted a refreshing flavor, and even had a sweet aftertaste, making it perfect for summer.
"Would you like to try some?" Ye Jia asked, staring at Chu Nian.
Chu Nian nodded, thinking to herself, "Forget it, don't ask anymore. They don't seem inclined to tell me, so I won't press them."
I took a sip, and it tasted better than I expected. It was bitter, but not the kind of bitter that would hit you.
Chu Nian had tried several fairly standard drinks before, which were generally reliable, but this niche specialty drink was so delicious that the owner must have some talent.
"Would you like some? It's nothing special, just a mojito flavor."
"I don't know what it tastes like," Ye Jia said, slightly embarrassed.
"Oh? You haven't tried it before? Then you should try it." Chu Nian pushed the wine towards her. "I thought you had tried it before."
Noticing that Chu Nian showed no disdain or even a hint of mockery, Ye Jia said with relief, "This is my first time in a bar."
At this point, Ye Jia deliberately raised her voice, trying to attract the attention of the men behind the bar, and added, "I've never been to a bar before, and I didn't even know it only opens at night."
She was explaining to him that she had genuinely gone to the wrong place by mistake and was an innocent civilian.
But the man didn't look up; he continued to put things into the plate.
Ye Jia didn't know if he had heard her.
