Jump into the sea

Jump into the sea

Speaking of biting, Ye Jia covered her neck: "So why did you suddenly bite me? I didn't say or do anything just now."

“…I don’t know.” Gu Anzhou’s ears turned red. “I just had that feeling.”

Ye Jia found his reaction amusing and pressed further, asking, "How does it feel?"

This is too difficult for him. He doesn't understand what's going on. In short, he just wants to take a bite, something like marking.

"Alright," Ye Jia let him go when she saw he couldn't say anything. "I wasn't used to it, so I hit you. You can try again. Actually, it felt pretty good."

She's much more direct.

Seeing his face turn both dark and red, Ye Jia couldn't help but laugh. She reached out and pressed down on the rag that was almost worn thin from wiping it: "Now you can talk about that one and only time you had a romantic encounter, right?"

He didn't answer immediately, but his expression returned to normal, with a hint of wariness. Ye Jia asked, "Was it there?"

Gu Anzhou nodded.

After a long pause, he slowly said, "She is one of the constable's women. She is the most capable and powerful one. For a while, the constable was very ill, and everyone thought she was going to take over."

Ye Jia listened quietly, telling herself not to judge, and showed no reaction on her face.

“She had feelings for me and kept trying to seduce me in various ways, using her beauty and power, using every method she could think of. During the time when the police officer was sick, she tried to put a bag over my head when I wasn’t paying attention, but I discovered it in time and escaped.”

After saying that, Gu Anzhou continued wiping the table: "That's it."

Actually, he didn't finish speaking. That was the last chance she gave him, but he accidentally injured one of her trusted confidants when he broke free. At that time, all her supporters were ordered to deal with him, intending to skin him alive and feed him to the fish.

Some of the injuries on his body were from this incident. He was relentlessly chased by hundreds of people. If it weren't for his high level of training and familiarity with the terrain, he might not have been able to escape.

She was targeted quite a bit afterward, but whether it was a good thing or a bad thing, the constable recovered from his illness not long after, and she quieted down a lot.

Ye Jia could probably guess that the so-called peach blossoms in that place would not have a good outcome, but he did not expect it to be like this.

Working in such a place, under such high pressure every day, it feels like your nerves can't relax for a moment.

When Ye Jia was a child, she witnessed someone committing murder and had nightmares about it for a long time. Gu Anzhou, on the other hand, spent several years in this hellish place where people could fully understand what normal life was like.

The clean and clear-minded twenties were wasted in such a place.

Even "love" is tainted by coercion and self-interest.

"How can you call this a peach blossom?" Ye Jia said, trying to keep a light tone.

Gu Anzhou smiled and said, "Then that's all."

"I don't believe it. Didn't any girls pursue you when you were in school, at the police academy?"

Yes, there are.

"Ah!" he exclaimed excitedly, as if he had found a loophole. "Then you say there isn't one."

"That was so long ago, it feels like something from a past life, I hardly remember it."

Ye Jia's mood immediately sombered. Were those wonderful times already a thing of the past?

Yes, Gu Anzhou felt like he had lived three lifetimes.

He is currently living a peaceful third life, but if Ye Jia leaves him, he may have to live a fourth life.

Upon hearing that the bar had reopened, Bai Yu skipped her last class on Friday afternoon and rushed back to Lingfeng Island.

Chu Nian told him not to come back so often on weekends, and to spend more time with his college classmates and participate in activities, but with something this important, Chu Nian couldn't possibly stop him, could she?

Bai Yu didn't tell Chu Nian that he had a surprise for her.

As soon as they got off the ship, they saw Chu Nian and a man walking towards the dock in the distance.

The man was carrying a large duffel bag and was walking forward, but his body kept leaning towards Chu Nian. Bai Yu understood this physical signal; the man didn't want to leave Chu Nian, but he had no choice but to go.

Who is this? When did this happen?

Bai Yu immediately jogged over and, adopting the demeanor of an empress, questioned, "Chu Nian, who is this?"

-

Gu Anzhou's shop had only been open for ten minutes when he heard someone outside shouting, "Someone jumped into the sea!"

His ears picked up the sound quickly, and he ran outside. The panicked screams were deafening. His adrenaline surged, and he rushed to the shore as fast as he could. Someone had already gone to rescue him; they looked like residents of Lingfeng Island and were good swimmers, so they should be able to save him. But he still took off his shoes and jumped in.

The last time I jumped into the sea was when I was being chased.

This time he seemed to swim even faster than last time.

He quickly caught the struggling man who had jumped into the sea, and together with two other residents, dragged him back to shore.

Chu Nian, standing on the shore, was pale and quite frightened.

Who would have thought that Bai Yu would react so strongly just by telling the truth, actually jumping into the sea.

While waiting on the shore for the rescue, Chu Nian thought about many things. First, she hoped that nothing would happen to Bai Yu. Second, she had to leave Lingfeng Island as soon as possible; she couldn't stay there any longer.

She was wrong. Her mistake was getting involved with people from such a simple, unassuming island. That kind of relationship, which is only meant for a fleeting night, is only suitable for development in big cities.

Bai Yu grew up on an island and is a very good swimmer. However, she developed an extreme thought of drowning herself, and her body also has a survival instinct.

He was fine, conscious, and just spat out some water and was fine.

He just sat on the shore with a look of despair on his face, seemingly still looking for a chance to run into the sea.

Gu Anzhou watched him closely from behind, preventing him from making any further unusual moves. He asked Chu Nian, who was standing to the side with a deathly pale face, "What happened?"

Chu Nian decided not to provoke Bai Yu again, and shook her head, saying, "It's nothing."

Bai Yu didn't even glance at her.

Gu Anzhou scooped up the struggling Bai Yu, half-carrying and half-supporting him, and brought him back to the shop, taking him straight upstairs. He rubbed his hair and body with a towel. Although the island temperature was warm, it was still winter, and he would get sick if he didn't dry himself off promptly.

He used a bit too much force, but it did manage to wake Bai Yu up.

Bai Yu grabbed a towel, buried her face in it, and cried out in a state of near collapse, "Brother Zhou... Brother Zhou—!"

Gu Anzhou ignored him, letting him calm down, and went to the bathroom to dry himself off. When he came out, he saw Ye Jia looking anxious.

"Phew..." Ye Jia breathed a sigh of relief, "You scared me to death, thank goodness you're alright."

"Are you worried something might happen to me?"

Judging from his tone, it seemed like he didn't need to worry about anything with his abilities. Ye Jia angrily punched him: "Please, you're not some god who's absolutely immortal."

A white thing stood there at the corner, looking resentful.

Bai Yu was watching them flirt.

Is there anyone who cares about his well-being after his recent breakup?

"Are you alright?" Ye Jia asked, feeling powerless as she asked the question. Did he look alright?

"Sister Jiajia..." Bai Yu called out weakly again, "Oh no, should I call her sister-in-law now?"

Ye Jiayi blushed and said, "Just call me sister."

"Oh." Bai Yu felt that after three months apart, they had a newlywed vibe, which was why she said that. "Sister Jiajia, do you know why? Why doesn't Chu Nian want me anymore?"

"What do you mean 'want' or 'don't want'? Isn't this a normal breakup?" Ye Jia said, nudging Gu Anzhou with her elbow to signal him to speak up for her.

Gu Anzhou was unaware of their situation, but as far as he knew, Chu Nian and Bai Yu did not seem to have a confirmed romantic relationship, so their breakup was even more normal.

But it's obvious that if Bai Yu were to tell this blunt truth, she'd probably jump off the second floor.

Gu Anzhou simply said, "That's right, didn't we break up?"

"Break up...break up..." Bai Yu repeated the word several times, each time emphasizing her words. "How come I didn't know we broke up? We never even talked about it. How can it be considered a breakup? What did I do wrong? Did I upset Chu Nian? Why?"

Have you two talked about being "together"?

Ye Jia's words silenced Bai Yu, who had been muttering incessantly.

No, there really isn't.

So that's how it is? Bai Yu couldn't accept it like this. He had been telling everyone at school that he had been dating someone, but when he came back, he was told that he had never had a girlfriend in the first place.

"As for what you did wrong, there probably wasn't anything wrong. You don't need to look for the reason within yourself. But it was probably inappropriate. Chu Nian certainly wouldn't want to maintain a long-term relationship with someone who would jump into the sea upon finding out about these things..."

Bai Yu roared, interrupting her: "Isn't that because of me?!"

"She's even yelling!" Gu Anzhou frowned. "Calm down. Ye Jia is just answering your question. Is there a problem?"

Bai Yu immediately chickened out again, slumped back onto the sofa, and rubbed her head hard with a towel several times to try and clear her head.

The two fell silent. Gu Anzhou covered his head with a towel and patted the water that had gotten into his ears; the seawater inside was a little painful.

After patting one side, I subconsciously patted the other side, only to realize that my left ear was completely sealed due to the injury, so there was no possibility of water getting in.

"How can I help you?" Ye Jia asked hurriedly as she watched him treat his ear.

"No need, it's almost done. I'm going to the restroom." Gu Anzhou knew how to handle this situation properly, but it was a little awkward to do it in front of Ye Jia, so he decided to hide and deal with it.

Ye Jia heard what sounded like someone jumping inside.

After a while, he came out looking completely fine.

But Bai Yu started whimpering, "Brother Zhou, water got into my ears too, it's so uncomfortable, how do I get it out?"

Gu Anzhou then taught him to tilt his head to one side, pull his earlobe to straighten his ear canal, and then hop on one foot.

Ye Jia couldn't help but laugh. No wonder she heard the jumping sound; it turned out to be this posture. Really, what was the point of carrying her on his back? This person still had a burden to carry.
