Not fierce
Gu Anzhou was making final preparations before opening for business, taking all the chairs off the table, when he seemed to hear a shout and stopped.
Upon closer listening, there was nothing there.
Hallucinations? But he hasn't seemed unusual lately.
Suddenly, another shout rang out; it was a voice he recognized—a very penetrating one.
Gu Anzhou dropped the chair, ran out of the store, and saw an electric scooter lying on its side on the roadside about 20 or 30 meters away, and Ye Jia waving.
"Did you crash or get hit by a car?"
Ye Jia turned around and saw Gu Anzhou walking over. She then realized that Gu Anzhou had just ridden her bike to the vicinity of the bar and felt a little embarrassed: "Uh, I fell down by myself."
Gu Anzhou checked the road conditions, righted the car, and said, "My knee is scraped."
His detached tone and furrowed brows could be interpreted as either impatience or concern.
Looking at that face, just like the moment she lay down and saw the sea view, Ye Jia forgot everything else and began to admire it.
Gu Anzhou looked at the wound on her left knee that was exposed and had accumulated a lot of dust: "Come to my shop to get it disinfected. Will you have trouble walking?"
"No." It hurts, but I can feel that no bone is broken. However, the wound is quite large, and it is indeed necessary to disinfect it. "My friend is still over there. My phone is broken, and I called her, but she probably didn't hear me."
"Take care of the wound first." Gu Anzhou pushed the car away, propped it up at the bar entrance, and said to her, "The front wheel is stuck, the bearing is broken. Where did you get this car?"
Ye Jia limped in and said, "My friend bought a used car from her landlord."
"Find the landlord for a refund and compensation. If he refuses, call the police." After saying that, Gu Anzhou looked down at her injury again. "Come over here and wash it off first. Take off your shoes."
As soon as Ye Jia took off her shoes, a pair of men's slippers were placed in front of her.
"Mine, I'll just have to make do with it."
"Oh." There was no point in nitpicking at this point, and Ye Jia herself didn't mind.
The bar's restroom wasn't big, just big enough for two people to stand in. Gu Anzhou's physique couldn't be measured by the standards of an average person, so there wasn't much space left once he squeezed in.
Gu Anzhou connected a hose to the sink faucet and pulled it out to rinse the grit from Ye Jia's knee wound.
The water was cold, but the wound felt burning. Ye Jia gritted her teeth, feeling unsteady on her feet, and braced her elbows against the wall beside her.
She needed to distract herself; looking at the wound would make the feeling even stronger, so Ye Jia stared intently at Gu Anzhou.
Surprisingly, it does have some pain-relieving effect.
Sensing her gaze, Gu Anzhou looked up.
Ye Jia immediately felt as if she had been warned and looked away.
"Bear with it, it'll be quick."
Ye Jia nodded and looked at Gu Anzhou's face again. After a while, her thoughts drifted to the painting Chu Huan had drawn, and as soon as she ran in that direction, she felt no pain at all.
As Ye Jia left the bathroom, she inwardly berated herself. "Ye Jia, Ye Jia, all those years of studying have been for nothing. How did I end up on this degenerate path of lust?"
She had liked that person for six years, but she had never imagined such a scene.
It's all Chu Nian's fault!
"Sit." Gu Anzhou left only one word and went into the room that Ye Jia had mistakenly entered last time.
Ye Jia noticed that the shop was clean and tidy, except for one chair that was crooked. She wondered if Gu Anzhou had heard her shout and hadn't had time to put the chair back in place before coming out.
She sat down in the chair and looked at the wound on her knee. After cleaning it, it didn't look so scary. She moved it a couple of times to make sure that no bone was broken.
She actually fell quite a few times when she was little. Her family had a bicycle, which often broke down, but when she fell in the mountains, she would get up, dust herself off, and keep going. Even if she had a wound, it wasn't as deep as it is now. Fortunately, she wasn't riding fast this time, so she was lucky.
Gu Anzhou took out a medical kit, placed it in front of Ye Jia, knelt down on one knee, and looked up at her: "Are you allergic to iodine?"
Ye Jia shook her head.
"Okay." Gu Anzhou pulled her ankle, disinfected it with iodine, bandaged it with gauze, and put away his medical kit. "Sit down and rest for a bit. I'll go call your friend."
"Thank you!" Ye Jia said to his retreating figure.
He is indeed very meticulous; he even considered whether the person would be allergic to iodine.
Ye Jia is quite resilient and doesn't seem to have any allergies, though she might actually have some but hasn't paid attention to them. With nothing to do and her phone gone, she opened the first-aid kit on the table and took a look.
It contained a lot of emergency medicines, which looked quite professional. I wonder if he bought them online as a pre-packaged set.
Everything was neatly arranged. Ye Jianeng must have done this because Gu Anzhou did a good job. He put everything back in its place after using it, so it wouldn't be messy.
Ye Jia has now truly let her guard down; she feels that Gu Anzhou is not the person she initially thought.
Just then, I heard a sound outside; Gu Anzhou had returned.
So fast? That's about a kilometer round trip. Was he gone for only three minutes?
But Ye Jia couldn't tell the time either. She didn't know if there was something wrong with her perception of time, but she felt that Gu Anzhou would be back soon.
"She's coming. She's very worried about you," Gu Anzhou said, his chest heaving rapidly, but he quickly calmed down.
Ye Jia stared at him, lost in thought. Unfortunately, he wasn't sweating, or rather, he wasn't sweating like the kind of sweat that drips down in paintings. But just seeing him panting was already very sexy. His voice, which was already pleasant to listen to, sounded even more charming at this moment.
...Ye Jia, oh Ye Jia!
"Oh, okay, thank you." Ye Jia quickly came to her senses. Had she hit her head again? What nonsense was she thinking?
Gu Anzhou looked at the medicine box that had been opened again and asked her, "Is there anything else that's bothering you?"
"No, I'm just taking a look."
After Ye Jia finished speaking, she saw Gu Anzhou turn and walk away. She touched her head and felt no pain or swelling.
Okay, I was just possessed by a pervert.
Chu Nian, who was physically weak, had run all the way in and was about to burst. When she saw the large bandage on Ye Jia's knee, she was even more out of breath: "Oh my god! Oh no, are you okay?"
"It's alright, don't worry."
How could she not be worried? Chu Nian was filled with regret: "I should have known better than to let you teach me to ride a bike! How could this have happened..."
"It's a problem with the car; the bearing is broken. Mr. Gu said you should ask the landlord for a refund."
"Huh? Why did you sell me a broken car?" Chu Nian immediately took out her phone and sent a message to the landlord.
The person on the other end seemed quite surprised when asked, saying he didn't know either: "[It was perfectly fine when I rode it over for you that day, wasn't it?]"
Chu Nian was so angry that she took pictures of Ye Jia's injuries and the car outside and sent them to them. She also asked Gu Anzhou to send a voice message, implying that someone on their side knew what was going on and that they should stop bullying people.
The other end didn't say anything more and refunded the fare: "[How about this, I don't want the car anymore. Let's see if we can sell it for scrap metal, and use the money for medical expenses.]"
Chu Nian's anger subsided slightly, and she was about to agree when she saw Gu Anzhou extend his hand to her.
"Let me call him. Ye Jia's phone is broken too. That's not enough."
Chu Nian was taken aback and quickly handed the phone to him.
Gu Anzhou took out his phone, made a call, and went outside. A short while later, he returned with a transfer of 3,000 yuan.
Ye Jia and Chu Nian were both stunned. How did they do that?
At the same time, Chu Nian was even angrier. Didn't this mean that if they had just stopped there, the landlord would have gotten away with it?
"I thought everyone on this island was a good person!" Chu Nian said angrily. "That car looked brand new!"
Ye Jia nodded, looking at Gu Anzhou, thinking that many things were indeed different from what she had initially expected.
Actually, Ye Jia's phone was worth less than three thousand yuan. Since the loss was excessive, Gu Anzhou let her keep it.
Ye Jia said she would come for a drink when she recovered.
The two took a taxi home.
Ye Jia usually cooks something simple for dinner, but today Chu Nian called the restaurant and ordered two servings of roasted pig's trotters for delivery, deciding to try and cure the problem by eating the same kind of food.
Chu Nian sat on the floor, leaning against the sofa, looking at Ye Jia who was sitting on the sofa with his laptop: "I feel uncomfortable living in that house now. I even signed a one-year contract. How much did you sign?"
"Six months," Ye Jia said. "If the house is fine, don't think too much about it."
"The house was nice, and I felt he was a good person when we talked before, but he sold me a beat-up car, which caused you to crash."
"I'm really fine. Luckily, I didn't cause you to fall with me, otherwise you wouldn't even have a helmet, which would have been terrible. We're already very lucky."
Chu Nian pouted: "You're too kind, it makes me feel even more guilty!"
"You even treated me to pig's trotters!" Ye Jia chuckled. "By the way, what kind of phone do you think I should buy? Buying a smartphone doesn't seem necessary; I won't need it on the island."
Chu Nian looked at the computer she handed over, which was full of old-fashioned phones: "But these all look so ugly. I only have one non-smartphone. I bought it thinking it would be a backup phone, but I don't need it at all. You can use it."
After careful consideration, Ye Jia agreed.
Chu Nian breathed a sigh of relief, her guilt lessening considerably.
It's a bright pink flip phone, very pretty, with a retro feel.
Ye Jia accepted it and quickly got the hang of it. She liked it very much; it was indeed much prettier than the ones she had seen online. Although she didn't care about the appearance, something prettier was of course better.
The two were having dinner together at the coffee table when Chu Nian suddenly remembered and asked, "So it was Boss Gu who bandaged you up?"
"Yeah, what a coincidence that I fell right in front of his door, and he took care of it in time. He seemed very professional."
"Oh? Sounds a little tempted." Chu Nian even stopped eating. "The bar was dimly lit, and you two were alone together. He disinfected and bandaged your wounds. It was quite ambiguous."
"No."
"Is there no ambiguity or no attraction?"
Ye Jia smiled and asked, "What shoujo manga have you been reading lately?"
Chu Nian was indeed either drawing or reading comics. She gave a wicked smile and said, "I'm not that innocent."
Ye Jia lowered her head and ate, thinking that she had indeed been led astray by Chu Nian. When Gu Anzhou pulled her to treat her wounds, she really did think about a lot of impure things.
After finishing her meal, Ye Jia had to teach her students, so Chu Nian didn't disturb her.
Ye Jia became immersed in the sophisticated pleasure of teaching knowledge to simple students, forgetting those vulgar joys.
A few days later, Ye Jia's wound healed very well because she refrained from scratching it at all. The scabs fell off, and the new growth was much whiter than hers.
Since no students had scheduled classes that day, Ye Jia took the initiative to invite Chu Nian to go drinking at the Fog Sea Lighthouse.
There was a woman sitting at the bar today. She had a graceful back view, beautiful, well-maintained curly hair that fell over her shoulders, and she was swirling her wine glass while resting her elbow on the bar. She was incredibly elegant.
Ye Jia and Chu Nian went over and sat down. They both recognized her; she was Aunt Meng, the friend of that aunt who had been dismissive of her friend's recommendation.
