Cui Yingzi looked like the sky had fallen; she felt that the job she had finally found was about to be gone!
"No, no, don't scare yourself. She probably can't find the class monitor at all."
Park Jin-joo took a deep breath and said, trying to appear calm.
The two returned to their posts, spending the entire afternoon in fear, waiting for their supervisor to reprimand them. However, the supervisor's expression remained normal until the end of the workday, indicating that no one had reported them.
"See? I told you that the Chinese guy couldn't find the class monitor!" Park Jin-joo said smugly.
"Pearl, let's not talk about those Chinese people anymore. They might all speak H language," Cui Yingzi said somewhat fearfully.
"How could that be? H language isn't that easy to learn. We're just unlucky today, we just happened to run into a meeting..."
“Pearl, this job pays well, and I don’t want to be fired. You know my mother is sick and needs money,” Cui Yingzi said with difficulty.
"Alright, alright! Look how scared you are. I didn't mean to talk about those Chinese people anymore. Come on, I'll treat you to something delicious." Seeing her best friend looking at her pitifully, Park Jin-joo finally stopped teasing her, and with a smile, she put her arm around Choi Young-ja, intending to treat her to something to calm her nerves.
"Pearl is the best! Pearl, I love you!" Choi Young-ja immediately hugged Park Jin-joo happily.
The next day was the day of the competition, and the team members who had matches got up early to prepare, planning to go to the venue as soon as possible.
"No need to go so early. It's only a 20-minute drive from here to the venue, very close," said Lee Dae-ho, a staff member from H, with a smile.
“We’re all ready. Let’s go there early and wait for a while. It’s fine.” Captain Liu felt that it didn’t matter where they waited; they could simply wait at the stadium.
"Okay, I'll go ask if the car has arrived yet." Li Dahao nodded and turned to leave.
A moment later, Li Dahao walked in looking embarrassed.
"I'm so sorry, the car had a flat tire on the way here. The driver is changing the tire and we'll have to wait a while."
"Change a tire? How long will it take? Are there any other cars?" Captain Liu checked his watch. There was plenty of time; the race didn't start for another hour.
"Changing the tire won't take too long, don't worry, we'll definitely make it in time. The other cars are too far away from here, it would take them 40 minutes to get here, and they'd be too late to get to the racetrack by then."
"Alright then, we'll wait." Captain Liu nodded and said helplessly.
"What's going on? Weren't we supposed to leave right away? Why hasn't the car arrived yet?" Coach Li had been looking out the window at the gate, waiting for the car to come in, but 10 minutes had passed and the car still hadn't arrived. He couldn't help but go to Captain Liu to ask what was going on.
"The car's tire is flat, and they said they're changing it. They should be done by now and it should be arriving soon." Captain Liu checked his watch and figured the car should be almost there.
"A tire blowout? Why did it have to be now? Didn't they check the car before setting off?" Coach Li said, frowning.
"Let's wait a little longer! Don't be too anxious. They still have a match today. If you're anxious, they'll panic too."
Captain Liu gestured for Coach Li to turn around and look. The team members had been looking this way, and they couldn't panic at this moment.
Ten minutes later, the car finally arrived. Everyone quickly got on. Coach Li was anxious and, as soon as he got on, he asked Translator Xu to urge the driver to drive faster.
"Xiao Li? Okay! Don't rush us, there's still time, safety first!" Captain Liu patted Coach Li and said.
Now that Captain Liu had spoken, Coach Li couldn't urge the driver any further. He returned to his seat and kept glancing at his watch. Every five minutes, he would have translator Xu ask the driver how far they were from the stadium.
With only 20 minutes left before the match, Coach Li was getting anxious.
"Didn't you say it would only take 20 minutes? It's been 20 minutes already, why aren't we there yet?" Coach Li asked the driver, frowning.
After speaking with the driver, Xu's expression turned somewhat unpleasant.
He said that the shortcut was under construction and impassable, and that the road we were on now would take another 10 minutes to get there.
"What? Comrade Li didn't mention that the road was under construction?" Captain Liu's face darkened, and he looked suspiciously at the driver in front. He felt that something was wrong.
Captain Liu grabbed Coach Li, who was about to confront the driver, gave him a look, and pulled him back to his seat.
"Captain, why are you stopping me?" Coach Li asked, barely containing his anger.
"Things started to go wrong when that guy surnamed Li told us to rest at the hotel this morning. Then he said something about a tire blowout, and now there's road construction. These people are trying to stall for time," Captain Liu said, frowning.
"They've gone too far! I'll go..." Coach Li jumped up, ready to fight the driver.
"Sit down! The car is still moving. Do you really want the team to miss the game if you go now?" Captain Liu pulled Coach Li's arm, making him sit down again, and said.
"But they also..."
"Let's see how it goes. This is just a guess; maybe there's still time," Captain Liu said with a sigh.
"After today's competition, you take Translator Xu and Mei Si to familiarize yourselves with the routes from each venue to the hotel. If something like this happens again tomorrow, we'll go to the venue ourselves."
Captain Liu thought for a moment and then whispered his instructions.
"Okay!" Coach Li nodded.
"I hope I'm just overthinking it," Captain Liu said worriedly, looking out at the street.
"Bang!"
“Squeak~~!”
