Chapter 120

"Nothing's wrong? What could possibly be wrong with me? Oh dear! Why are you worrying about an old woman like me? Go home and live your own life!" Yu Guiping turned her head to the side, avoiding her daughter's gaze, and said.

"Where's the bag you brought back from S City? What's inside it?" Wang Ma suddenly asked about the bag Grandma Yu brought back from S City.

"Ah? No, it's nothing, it's just... something I brought for someone." Yu Guiping felt a little guilty, and her voice dropped several octaves.

The voice was so soft that if it weren't for the fact that it was just the two of them in the room, and Wang Ma was standing close by, she definitely wouldn't have been able to hear what Grandma Yu was saying.

"Where is it? Let me see what good things people over there usually use." Seeing that Grandma Yu was so guilty, Wang Ma knew that the bag was the key.

"You won't see it anymore, I gave it to them a long time ago!"

"Really? What a pity." Wang Ma didn't believe Grandma Yu at all. She remembered her husband saying that those bags were very big. Since they weren't in the hall, they must have been stored in the warehouse. Wang Ma went straight out to the warehouse.

Yu Guiping quickly followed behind her daughter and breathed a sigh of relief when she saw that her daughter was going to the warehouse.

Wang Ma opened the warehouse, but didn't see any bags. She frowned, then suddenly turned to look at Grandma Yu.

Sure enough, Grandma Yu was secretly laughing behind her. When she saw Wang Ma turn around, she quickly put on a stern face.

Wang Ma glanced at the warehouse again, then turned and looked around. If the things weren't stored in the warehouse, it meant that Grandma Yu's things might get damp.

There are only a few rooms in the house. My mother is sleeping in the big room, which is clearly visible from the living room. There are no bags inside, so it's quite obvious where the bags are.

Wang Ma started walking towards the small house, and Yu Guiping panicked. She quickly stepped forward to block her daughter from passing by.

"This house has been uninhabited for almost two years, it's all covered in dust. Why don't you stay in the big room with me tonight?"

Yu Guiping tried to bluff her way out of it.

"I still prefer my old room. I'll clean it up and stay here tonight!" Wang Ma walked past Grandma Yu and pushed open the door to the small room.

Grandma Yu tried to stop her again, but it was too late.

"Mom! What are all these?" Wang Ma asked in surprise, looking at the clothes all over the bed.

"Clothes!" Seeing that her daughter had already seen them, Yu Guiping stopped trying to hide them and went straight into the house to start stuffing clothes into the bag.

“I know these are clothes, but… why did you buy so many clothes?” Wang Ma stepped forward, picked up a piece, unfolded it, and found that the style of the clothes was quite nice, similar to those sold in stores.

"I...I just saw that Meng Juhua's clothes were cheap, so I thought I'd sell some too," Yu Guiping said awkwardly.

"Oh? Then...did you sell them?" Wang Ma was surprised that Grandma Yu wanted to do business; she used to look down on those individual business owners.

"If it had sold, would I be so angry? I was tricked by Meng Juhua!" Yu Guiping said regretfully as she sat down on the stool.

"How much did you spend on all this?" Wang Ma glanced at the bags on the ground and thought that Grandma Yu had bought a bit too much.

"Not much." Yu Guiping didn't want Mei's daughter to worry, so she didn't intend to tell the truth.

"Not much is not much, just tell the truth." Wang Ma knew her mother better than anyone; she must have spent a lot of money to be so upset just now.

“They’ve all gone down the drain!” Yu Guiping glanced at her daughter and said in a low voice.

"What? You...you've lost all that you saved up?" Wang Ma's chest heaved violently. After holding it in for a long time, she finally didn't yell at Grandma Yu.

My mother is getting old, and she's probably more heartbroken than anyone else to have lost the money. If I talk to her now, I might upset her and make her sick.

"Sigh! Alright, don't worry about this anymore. I'll take care of these clothes for you, and I'll bring you the money in a couple of days." Wang Ma took a deep breath and started packing the clothes, deciding to take them home to deal with them.

"You? Can you do it?" Yu Guiping looked at her daughter with suspicion, thinking that her daughter might not be as good as her at doing business. She had at least sold four pieces of clothing.

"Why can't I do it? It's just addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division, simple!" Wang Ma said confidently, trying to reassure her mother.

But only Wang Ma herself knew what she was really thinking.

After packing her clothes, Wang's mother called Wang's father and asked him to borrow a car to pick her up.

"What's wrong with you two, mother and daughter? Why have you suddenly become so fond of riding in cars? Why don't we just buy one for the family?" Wang's father said with amusement.

"Just drive over tonight, I'll talk to you when we get home." Wang Ma glanced at Grandma Yu, who kept looking this way, and decided it wasn't appropriate to explain in detail to her husband over the phone.

“What did you say about patriotism? I’m not angry with you, am I? Why don’t you keep the clothes? There are so many people in the compound, we’re bound to sell a few.” Yu Guiping quickly advised her daughter after she finished her phone call.

Although Yu Guiping didn't think much of her son-in-law, she had to admit that he had always been very good to her daughter over the years.

She didn't want her daughter and son-in-law to argue over these clothes.

"You don't need to worry about it. I have so many colleagues at work, more people than you know."

When Mr. Wang drove over to pick up his wife that evening, he was taken aback when he saw the familiar bag in the yard. "Why is this at the door?" he wondered.

Should I skim it off?

"Aiguo is here! Come in quickly, the food is all ready, we're just waiting for you!" Yu Guiping stood at the door, urging her son-in-law to come in quickly, while she herself hurried to the kitchen to get the rice.

Mr. Wang was a little startled. This was the first time he had ever seen his mother-in-law so enthusiastic. Was she talking to him?

Mr. Wang quickly turned around to look behind him, wondering if anyone was there. He figured his mother-in-law was probably talking to someone behind him.
