Chapter 128

"And you're telling me? I was going to wash your bag, but luckily I checked the contents. What if I hadn't? The contract would have been ruined!" Grandma Mei said, giving her granddaughter a sideways glance.

When Mei Liang and his parents saw the contract, they went over and picked it up to look through it. Mei Liang saw several contracts and thought that his sister had only bought a few rooms on one floor. However, the area on the contract was not right.

"What's going on? Is the area written wrong?" When Mei's mother saw that the building area on the contract was a four-digit number, she frowned and asked.

“It’s not wrong, Mom. Look, this floor number is different.” Mei Liang glanced at his sister and pointed it out to his mother.

"Sisi, tell me, why did you buy all these shops... shops?" Looking at the huge areas listed on the seven contracts, Mei's father was starting to worry. Who would rent such large shops?

“My brother said the other day that the apartment was nice, so I went to see it,” Mei Si said, looking at Mei Liang.

"Me? No, I was talking about an apartment building that day, but you bought a shop, it's different!" Mei Liang felt wronged when he saw that Grandma Mei and the other two had all turned to look at him!

“I’ve looked at the apartments, but they’re all too small. They’re not even as big as our yard. How can they accommodate so many of our family members?”

"You...you bought the shop to live in?" Mei Liang desperately hoped he had misheard.

"Yes! That's where I live."

"Sisi, don't you think you bought too much? There are only a few people in our family, one floor is enough for us, why did you buy the whole thing?"

"Mother Mei thinks that her daughter is filial and wants to buy a large house for her family to live in, which is fine! But she can buy the whole house..."

"Because if we don't buy the whole thing, the vegetable garden in front of the building won't all belong to our family."

Mei Si hadn't initially planned to buy that many, but Sister Zheng said that the garden in front of the house belonged to all the owners of the building and didn't belong to any individual.

So it turns out that Sisi bought so much because of something Grandma Mei said!

Immediately, Grandma Mei enjoyed the same treatment as her eldest grandson, and everyone's attention fell on her.

"I...I don't necessarily want to grow vegetables. Why didn't you ask me before you bought them?" Grandma Mei shifted uncomfortably and complained softly.

The house has already been bought, so the Mei family can only accept this fact. The most important thing now is to install doors and windows on the first floor and rent it out as soon as possible. As for the upstairs... we'll deal with that later!

Mei Liang discussed the rent with his parents. Because they were worried that if it was too expensive, no one would rent it, so they set a price that was 50 yuan cheaper than Mei Liang's current shop rent.

"Isn't it too high? How about we lower it by 50?" Mei's mother still felt the price was too high.

"It's not too high. If I didn't want to bring all these people here, I would have liked to add another 100 to the rent." Mei Liang felt that the rent was already cheap enough and couldn't be lowered any further.

"Add another 100? You're kidding me. Who would rent that for such an exorbitant price?" Mei's father shook his head, thinking that if the rent was set that high, it would definitely scare people away.

“Dad, this place is in a good location, we won’t have trouble renting it out. This time, we need to be more formal about renting it out, and make sure it’s a contract like this, so they have to rent it for a year,” Mei Liang said, pointing to the contract on the table.

"You need to make a rental agreement?" Mei's mother looked at her son in surprise. When did you have to put your fingerprints and sign a document to rent a house? How come she didn't know that?

"Looks like we're falling behind the times! You know what's going on, just make sure your sister doesn't lose money!" Seeing his son's confidence, Mei's father decided to drop the matter.

Mei Liang received a call from Brother Jie that very evening.

The shop owners all went to see the location and felt that it was better than their current place, so they all agreed to share the rent.

Mei Liang briefly explained the rent and arranged to meet the next afternoon to discuss it in detail.

Mei Liang knew a bit about shop matters. The next morning, Mei Si and Mei Liang went to the shop together, waiting for the lumber shop owner's husband to come and take measurements.

The eldest sister's husband is named Zhou Dazhuang. He was a little unhappy when he learned that Mei Si was no longer making flooring, feeling that he had been tricked.

“Brother Zhou, although we’re not doing flooring for now, we’re going to do something else. We need to install partitions and divide the first floor into small shops.”

“Okay, how big do you want?” Zhou Dazhuang thought for a moment. As long as the timber was still bought from his shop, it didn’t matter what he did.

While Mei Liang was busy working with Zhou Dazhuang, he handed the agreement he had written the day before to Mei Si and asked her to find a printing factory to print 50 copies first.

Mei Si went to several printing factories, but they all refused to take the job because they thought Mei Si printed too little.

Finally, a worker from a printing factory noticed that Mei Si was covered in sweat from running and reminded her that she could print more.

After seeing Zhou Dazhuang off, Mei Liang went to the shop. He thought Mei Si would have arrived long ago, but when he asked, he found out that Mei Si hadn't come yet.

"What did you tell your sister to do?" After giving the wontons to the students who were eating, Mei's mother came back and asked her son.

"I sent her to print that agreement. She left around 9 o'clock, and she hasn't come back yet. Did she go to the paper mill?"

"Slap!" Mei's mother slapped Mei Liang on the back.

"You should have been the one to print it, but instead you sent your sister! Just wait and see!" Aunt Mei glared at her son and went to the table where the guests had left to clear away the empty bowls.

Mei Liang kept glancing at the door, worried that Mei Si wouldn't be able to sign the agreement with them in time for the afternoon.

Fortunately, Mei Si finally arrived at one o'clock.

"Why did you print so many? Fifty copies would have been enough."

“They won’t print 50 sheets. I went to several places, but none of them would take the job.”

Mei Liang realized why his sister had taken so long, given her stubbornness.
