"...A couple of days ago, Sister Xu from the store came over and said that the store is almost ready and will probably reopen soon." When Grandma Mei saw that her granddaughter was awake, she immediately reached out and hugged her granddaughter to sit up.
"So fast? Didn't you say it would take several months last time?"
Mr. Mei looked at the daughter in Grandma Mei's arms and frowned.

Grandma Mei didn't seem to mind that her husband, mother, and son were away these past two days, since they were all still going to work or school as usual.
However, Grandma Mei felt empty inside because she couldn't see her granddaughter. She had been taking care of her granddaughter since birth, and suddenly not seeing her for two days made her feel anxious and restless!
While cooking during the day, Grandma Mei would suddenly go into the room to check on the kang (a heated brick bed). Only when she saw that her granddaughter wasn't on the kang would she remember that her granddaughter hadn't returned yet.
"Mom, it'll only be a few months. Once the weather gets warmer, I'll pick her up from get off work every Saturday and take her home, then drop her off on Sunday afternoon." Mei's dad also wants to spend every day with his daughter, but she's too young. They can't leave her alone at home during the day; they wouldn't feel comfortable doing that.
