"How can you prove that the cloth ration coupons belong to your family?" Mei Si turned to look at Yu Xiaomei and asked.
"I... this cloth ration coupon was taken out of my boyfriend's pocket, do I really need to prove it?" Yu Xiaomei's eyes almost popped out of their sockets. She had never seen such an unreasonable person.
How could something you take out of your own pocket not be your own?
"Sisi, you can't talk like that. Have you forgotten everything I taught you these past few days?" Grandma Mei patted her granddaughter's back, signaling her to stop talking.
Grandma Mei suddenly had a premonition that her granddaughter's inflexible personality was something she couldn't change.
“I can prove that this cloth ration coupon belongs to our family.” Mei Si turned to look at Grandma Mei, not understanding what was wrong with her stating the facts.
"Stop talking, go check on your brother in the back." Grandma Mei frowned at her granddaughter for the first time.
Grandma Mei: This woman doesn't look like a good person at all. We can't let Sisi argue with her.
"You think you can just leave like that? She won't leave until we make this clear today!" Yu Xiaomei saw that a crowd of onlookers had gathered around them, and she knew that if they didn't clarify things, they would be accused of being thieves.
"She's just a kid, she's talking nonsense, don't take it to heart. You still need to buy other things..." Grandma Mei looked at Yu Xiaomei, forced a smile, and wanted them to leave first.
"Stop trying to bluff! What's wrong with kids? Just because they're kids doesn't mean we can accuse them of stealing tickets!" Yu Xiaomei said loudly, looking at the people around her.
"My granddaughter didn't say you stole the tickets! She just thought the cloth tickets looked like ours. Children don't understand these things; she doesn't know that all cloth tickets look the same." Grandma Mei felt that Yu Xiaomei was making a mountain out of a molehill. Her granddaughter was just saying it casually; how could it be considered an accusation of stealing tickets?
"Our cloth ration coupons are different!" Although Grandma Mei told her to shut up, Mei Si couldn't help but remind her that their cloth ration coupons were different.
"Look at you, still accusing us of stealing tickets! Everyone, please be the judge. These cloth tickets were taken from my boyfriend's pocket, but this little brat insists they belong to his family." Yu Xiaomei glared at Mei Si, deciding to let everyone judge the matter. The eyes of the masses are discerning; they will surely give her justice.
Yu Xiaomei: We must teach this brat a lesson!
If it weren't for the bad influence it would have caused, I would have loved to go up there and slap her mouth shut!
"This woman, the child just thought the cloth ration coupons belonged to their family. How did you turn that into accusing you? You're a grown woman, why are you arguing with a child?" Someone couldn't stand it anymore and felt that Yu Xiaomei was being unreasonable.
"Exactly, she just said that her family's cloth ration coupons were different, how did she say you stole the coupons?"
Why are you so agitated? Are you feeling guilty?
"What's wrong with you people? We're the ones who've been wronged, yet you're all taking their side. Are you all in cahoots? Just to cheat us out of our tickets?" Yu Xiaomei looked around at the people suspiciously, thinking they might all be there to steal tickets.
"How can you talk like that, comrade?"
"Don't talk nonsense. We all have tickets. Why would we lie to you about those few tickets?"
"Exactly, who cares about your ticket? We have our own!"
"Alright! Let's go!" Although Xu Jianmin also felt that the little brat needed to be taught a lesson, no one was on their side, so there was no point in saying anything more.
"No, if we leave now, they'll think we're guilty. We have to get to the bottom of this today and make them apologize!" Yu Xiaomei stood in the middle of the crowd, hands on her hips. She was determined to prove to everyone that this little brat was lying and trying to cheat their family out of their cloth ration coupons.
"Tell me, how can you prove the cloth coupons belong to your family? My boyfriend took them out of his pocket, everyone saw that," Yu Xiaomei said confidently.
“It smells.” Mei Si said, pointing to the cloth ticket.
"Ha! Do you have a dog's nose? You can smell your own cloth ration coupons just because they're on the counter?" Yu Xiaomei rolled her eyes, finding Mei Si's evidence ridiculous.
“It smells like urine, the smell of my brother’s urine,” Mei Si said seriously.
"Haha! This evidence is even more fake. Who would soak a ticket in urine? Are you stupid?" Yu Xiaomei felt victory was in sight and that they would apologize soon.
Grandma Mei twitched her lips and finally began to look at the cloth coupons on the counter. These cloth coupons were indeed a bit smudged, as if they had been soaked in water.
Grandma Mei: Could it be that this ticket was really lent out by Xiao Hua?
"Hey? It really does smell pungent!" Someone couldn't help but pick up the cloth ticket and smell it after seeing how certain Mei Si was.
"It really does smell like urine, just like my son's diapers." Mrs. Liu also picked up the cloth coupons and smelled them, confirming that it really did smell like urine.
"How could this be?" Yu Xiaomei panicked and couldn't help but glance at Xu Jianmin. The Xu family didn't have any children.
Xu Jianmin frowned, a bad feeling creeping into his heart. This ticket was borrowed from Uncle Mei by his father. Could it be that the two of them were from the Mei family?
"You'll know once you smell it!"
"Yes! Smell it."
Yu Xiaomei stepped forward with some skepticism, picked up the cloth ticket, and smelled it. Her face immediately turned pale. This smell... was disgusting!
When Mei Xiaodi woke up, he kept asking to go out for a walk. Mei Liang also felt that it was boring in the rest room, so he took Mei Xiaodi out to see what was going on.
When we arrived at the counter where Grandma Mei usually worked, we found a lot of people gathered there. These people didn't look like they were buying fabric; they looked more like they were just sitting around doing nothing.
Mei Liang felt a pang of panic. Had something happened to Grandma Mei?
"Grandma? Grandma! Are you there? What's wrong?" Mei Liang was holding his little brother Mei and didn't dare to squeeze into the crowd, so he could only call out to people from outside.
