Chapter 59

"Hao Yuan, you're here, why did you bring all this stuff?" Aunt Mei said with a smile.

"My mom and grandma packed it for me. They all wanted me to ride my tricycle here." Hao Yuan didn't expect that he would come out with his bicycle fully loaded up in the short time he went in.

Hao Yuan should have arrived much earlier, but he had too much stuff, and even pedaling was difficult, so he had to ride slowly.

"How are your grandparents? I was thinking of going back to your great-uncle's house tonight to stay overnight. Here, have some hot water."

Mei's mother placed the teacup filled with hot water into Hao Yuan's hands.

"Grandpa and Grandma are in good health. They said you don't need to worry. My little brother is still young, and they don't want you to travel back and forth."

"Why won't you let me go back? I haven't been back for two years." Perhaps because her family members were visiting, Mei's mother became a little emotional. She was clearly unhappy knowing that Grandma Hao and the others wouldn't let her go back.

"Hehe." Hao Yuan was also quite embarrassed, not knowing how to comfort his homesick aunt.

"Hao Yuan hasn't eaten yet, has he? I'll go heat up some food for you." Grandma Mei had finished putting her little brother to sleep in the inner room and was heading towards the kitchen when she came out.

"Happy New Year, Grandma Mei! No need to trouble yourself, I've already eaten something this morning." Hao Yuan quickly got up to stop Grandma Mei.

"Happy New Year to you too! You've been riding your bike for hours, you must be hungry. I'll go heat up some food for you to eat, and then I'll cook you something delicious for lunch." Grandma Mei pressed Hao Yuan down onto the edge of the kang (a heated brick bed) and turned to go to the kitchen.

Hao Yuan didn't dare to pull or tug at Grandma Mei, and obediently sat down on the edge of the kang (a heated brick bed) following her lead.

Seeing that Mei's mother had a long face and that Hao Yuan was feeling uncomfortable, Mei's father couldn't help but nudge her and gesture towards the kitchen with his chin.

"I'll go help." Aunt Mei knew it was her nephew's first time visiting, and she shouldn't act like this, so she planned to go to the kitchen to calm herself down.

"Hao Yuan, how many days off do you have? Why don't you stay here a couple more days?" Mei's father looked at Hao Yuan dressed in green and was filled with envy.

Mei's father originally had the opportunity to join the army, but Mei's grandmother refused to let him. Mei's father was worried that if he left, Mei's grandmother would be all alone at home, so he didn't go.

"I'm taking the train back to my unit tomorrow afternoon."

Why the rush?

“I’ve been back for several days now. I was planning to come back tomorrow, but my grandma and the others were worried that my aunt wouldn’t be able to stay and would take the child back again, so they asked me to come a day earlier.”

"Your auntie can't stand staying here! But we're not planning to take the kids back this year," she said softly, glancing at the kitchen.

Mei's father: My mother-in-law really understands my wife!

"Brother, is the army fun? What's it like? What do you guys usually do?" Mei Liang's curiosity was piqued when Hao Yuan mentioned the army, so he moved closer to Hao Yuan and started asking him all sorts of questions.

Meiss also pricked up her ears to listen carefully, wanting to know what the human teams usually did, and whether they were the same as Bu Yaoxing.

"That's not a place to play, go stand aside." Mei's father glared at his son, feeling that Mei Liang was interrupting his conversation with Hao Yuan.

"The army is no fun. It's all about training. We often have to get up before dawn to run, and we're not allowed to go out normally."

Hao Yuan answered Mei Liang's questions seriously.

"Huh? This is so boring? I might as well just do horse stance."

"Horse stance?" Hao Yuan raised an eyebrow and began to look Mei Liang up and down.

Because of the thick winter clothes, Mei Liang didn't say anything, and Hao Yuan hadn't noticed either, but Mei Liang, despite his young age, was noticeably more robust than before.

Hao Yuan reached out and pinched Mei Liang's arms and thighs. Just as he had expected, Mei Liang was muscular at such a young age.

"Hahaha!" Mei Liang laughed awkwardly, and couldn't help but glance at Mei Si.

"The kid is just fooling around, trying to do a horse stance like in the book." Mei's father glanced at his son and quickly interrupted.

"Holding the horse stance is good, Xiao Liang, hang in there, so you can grow tall and strong in the future." Hao Yuan didn't delve into the matter of the horse stance, after all, everyone has secrets.

In the past, when Hao Yuan heard the term "horse stance," which only appeared in novels, he would have just thought that Mei Liang was making a fuss.

Hao Yuan no longer thinks that way. His company commander is a martial arts master, and Hao Yuan has personally witnessed the scene of the company commander fighting ten people at once.

"Yes! I practice horse stance every day." Mei Liang decided to practice horse stance from now on in order to grow taller and stronger.

The time has been extended.

Once Mei's mother understood, she pulled Hao Yuan aside and asked about the Hao family's situation: how were her brother and sister-in-law's health, and were her nephews still mischievous? She asked everyone, leaving no one out.

Hao Yuan tried to be as detailed as possible about what he knew, since he had only been home for a few days and his family was large, so he didn't know everything.

In the afternoon, Hao Yuan had to go out.

"What are you going to do during the New Year? There's not a soul in sight outside!" Aunt Mei was worried about Hao Yuan going out.

"Hao Yuan is already so old, stop worrying about him," said Mei's father, tugging at Mei's mother.

“It’s our class monitor. He doesn’t have any leave this year and is worried about his family, so he asked me to send a letter home for him.”

"Where is the address? You don't come to the provincial capital very often, how about your uncle goes with you?"

"No need to trouble your uncle, I'll be back in a bit. Just point me in the right direction at Yongning Hutong."

“I know! I know that place! I used to eat there all the time. I’ll take you there.” As soon as Mei Liang heard the address Hao Yuan gave him, he quickly said that he was willing to take Hao Yuan there.

"Then let Mei Liang take you there. He's just a kid, so let him wait for you outside." Mei's mother thought about it and realized that it was the New Year, and Mei's father didn't know the people there, so it wouldn't be appropriate for him to go.
