Chapter 62

Mei Liang poured half a tub of warm water onto the iron pipe that was stuck to Sisi's tongue. After a short while, Sisi's tongue separated from the iron pipe.

Mei Si looked at all this in surprise, wondering why. Wasn't it stuck? Why could warm water solve it? Mei Si touched the iron pipe again and found that it was not sticky.

"Why?"

Mei Si turned to look at Mei Liang and asked.

"Huh? What, why?"

Why does it stick to the tongue?

"Why... I..." Mei Liang scratched his head, he didn't know why either!

"Why does warm water make it lose its stickiness?" Mays asked, pointing to the iron pipe.

"I...I don't..." Mei Liang took a step back, suddenly feeling that his sister was a little scary at this moment.

"Why isn't it sticky normally? Why doesn't it stick to Dad's hands when he rides it? Why..." Mei Si looked at Mei Liang excitedly, suddenly realizing that this older brother seemed to know a lot of things she didn't understand.

"I...I don't know, don't ask..." Mei Liang was so frightened by his sister getting closer and closer that he quickly backed away.

Mei Liang: Why are you asking so many questions? Why don't you just beat me up? I just tricked you!

"How could you not know? You knew it would stick to my tongue, you knew warm water would make it lose its stickiness, you..."

"Liangliang, Sisi, what are you two doing? Come inside and eat!" Grandma Mei had finished cooking but didn't see her grandson and granddaughter. When she asked, she found out that the two of them had run outside.

"Dinner's ready! Don't tell Mom, Dad, or Grandma about this, or I won't tell you!" Mei Liang excitedly ran to Grandma Mei; her appearance was just in time!

After breakfast, Mei Liang suddenly thought of a problem. If he went to the store later, only he, Jianjian and Mei Si would be left in the lounge. What if she asked him again then?

Mei Liang: How about I skip the store today? How should I put it? Pretend I have a stomachache?

"Ouch! That hurts!" Mei Liang suddenly clutched his stomach and collapsed onto the kang (a heated brick bed), groaning.

"What's wrong with Liangliang?" Grandma Mei didn't even bother to clear the bowls and rushed over to see what was wrong with her eldest grandson.

"Liangliang, where does it hurt?" Mei's mother was getting anxious and started touching her son's body, trying to find out where he was in pain.

"My stomach hurts, it suddenly hurts so much, I might... not be able to go to the store," Mei Liang said, grimacing.

"Why did your stomach suddenly hurt? How does it hurt?" Grandma Mei sat down on the kang (a heated brick bed), touched Mei Liang's head, and asked with concern.

"Huh? How does it hurt? It just hurts!" Mei Liang was taken aback by the question. There are different kinds of pain?

"Look how scared you are, let me see." Mei's father pushed Mei's mother aside and sat down on Mei Liang's other side.

"Does it hurt here? If it hurts, we'll have to go to the hospital to have it cut open," said Mei's father, pressing on Mei Liang's lower abdomen.

"It doesn't hurt!" Mei Liang quickly shook his head, indicating that it didn't hurt.

"And here?" Dad Mei asked, pressing on her stomach again.

"Hmm... what are the consequences of pain here?" Mei Liang hesitated, unsure whether he should say "pain".

"..." If Mei's father still can't see that his son is faking it, then he's lived in vain all these years.

“If it hurts here, you don’t need treatment. We can just go to the wilderness, dig a hole, and bury you,” said Mei’s mother, glancing at Mei Liang.

“It doesn’t hurt here either!” Mei Liang quickly shook his head.

"Does your stomach still hurt?" Grandma Mei asked her eldest grandson with a smile.

"Hey! It doesn't seem to hurt anymore." Mei Liang pretended to be very surprised, indicating that his stomach pain had suddenly stopped.

The three adults in the Mei family got up and went about their own business, ignoring Mei Liang completely.

On the way to the store, Mei Liang could see his younger sister's burning gaze as soon as he turned his head.

Mei Liang: This won't work, we need to think of a way to get by.

"Quickly answer my question!" Mei Si said, rushing to Mei Liang as soon as Grandma Mei left.

“…Ahem! Um…it’s a secret, you can’t know it now.” Mei Liang imitated the wise man in the book, putting his hands behind his back and raising his chin, looking inscrutable.

"A secret?" Meiss frowned.

“Yes, you’re too young now. I’ll tell you when you’re 15,” Mei Liang said, spouting nonsense with a straight face.

Mei Liang: She should have forgotten about it by then.

"What does a secret have to do with being young?" Meiss wondered. Human secrets... wait a minute!

"Why do you have to wait until I'm 15? You're only 13 this year!" Mei Si looked at Mei Liang suspiciously. Was he lying to her?

"That's because...because I'm a man!" At this point, Mei Liang didn't dare to say that he didn't know anything. Knowing his sister's nature, if he found out he had been deceived, he might not see the midday sun.

"Men? Aren't we supposed to be talking about gender equality these days? Why are you treating them differently?"

"Because...because this is the rule, set by our ancestors, not something I can decide." Mei Liang decided he would never lie again; lying was so difficult!

Mei Si glanced at Mei Liang but didn't say anything. She didn't understand the things about human ancestors and didn't want to ask casually, for fear that Mei Liang would see through her.
