Wang Ce Lou first asked his father for rubber tubing, which was something that his father, who always stayed in the laboratory, could find everywhere.
"What is it for?"
"It's used as an elastic band, to put an elastic band on pants." Wang Celou couldn't tell the truth; it was really not appropriate for his father to know the truth.
"Then the leaky pipe will do." Mr. Wang nodded, planning to find a few non-toxic discarded pipes to bring back to his son.
Next, Wang Celou asked Wang Ma for cotton cloth.
"What are you going to do?" Wang Ma asked casually.
“...make...make long underwear.” Wang Ce Lou thought for a long time before he realized that cotton quilts could be made into long underwear.
"You'll make it? Can you? Your long underwear is torn? Mom will make it for you." Wang's mother seriously doubted her son's practical skills. In all of Wang Ce Lou's life, Wang's mother had never seen him sew anything.
Wang's mother had also wanted to teach him, since the child was getting older and he would probably be embarrassed to tell her if his underwear or something was torn.
However, her son seemed to be very resistant to needles and thread. Wang Ma didn't want to force him. Since her son didn't want to learn, then he shouldn't learn. At worst, she would frequently go through her son's clothes and mend them for him when he wasn't home.
"No need, I can do it myself." He wasn't really going to make his own long underwear. If Wang Ma knew the truth, she would definitely think he was a pervert.
"Okay, if you encounter any problems while sewing, remember to come to me." Wang Ma knew her son's temperament. Although she didn't know why he suddenly stopped resisting needle and thread, she didn't ask since her son didn't want to talk about it.
Wang Celou has prepared everything, while Mei Si has been anxiously waiting for the past week.
After finally making it to Saturday, the coach said that everyone couldn't go straight home on Saturday night; they had to organize a party to celebrate the addition of the new team members.
"Is it okay if we don't go?" Mei Si asked directly in front of everyone, very frankly.
"No way." Coach Li was looking at Mei Si, wanting to strangle her. He had just clearly said that the purpose of organizing this event was to welcome Mei Si, so why wasn't she going?
"Fine." Mei Si pouted and had no choice but to postpone her return home.
After training in the evening, Coach Li took the 15 members of the shot put team directly to the city by car. When they arrived at the station, Coach Li, who knew the way well, led them to the entrance of a restaurant.
"Wait here at the door for a moment. I'll go in and tell you to order the food. Then I'll take you for a walk around the neighborhood. Wu Chunmei, keep an eye on everyone. You all need to behave yourselves. If any of you wander off on your own, this gathering will be canceled."
Coach Li assigned Wu Chunmei, the oldest member of the team, to watch over everyone. He then gave everyone a warning look before quickly entering the restaurant.
Mei sniffed; she smelled lamb skewers—they smelled so good!
There are also roasted sweet potatoes, roasted corn, roasted...
Mei Si: Luckily I came along, there's so much to eat here!
A moment later, Coach Li came out and led everyone into the alley next door.
There were many people in the alley. Coach Li had the older ones lead the younger ones. In fact, only Mei Si and Qu Zhenguo were under 18 years old.
Mei Si didn't think anything was wrong with Wu Chunmei holding her hand, but Qu Zhenguo was very upset.
"Coach, I'm 15 already, so I don't need to be held hands anymore, right?" Qu Zhenguo felt that he was too old to be holding hands with someone, which was very embarrassing.
"If you don't hold my hand, you can just go home!" Coach Li glared at him and threatened him directly.
"Fine, let's do it. What's with the stubbornness?" Qu Zhenguo immediately backed down when he saw Coach Li's face darken. He quickly grabbed Zhao Qiang's hand and muttered to himself.
"What did you say?" Coach Li only saw Qu Zhenguo slur his words but didn't hear the sound, so he figured the brat was definitely up to no good.
"I said, Coach, I've grabbed Brother Zhao's hand," Qu Zhenguo said, lifting their clasped hands.
“No, you clearly said ‘If you want to take my hand, then take it. What’s with the stubbornness?’” Mei Si didn’t expect that Qu Zhenguo couldn’t even remember what he had just said.
"..." Qu Zhenguo shrank his neck and stole a glance at Coach Li. His eyes met Coach Li's. Qu Zhenguo immediately lowered his head and waited to be scolded.
"I'll deal with you when we get back!" Coach Li knew this wasn't the place to discipline someone, so he decided to give Qu Zhenguo a proper talking-to when training started on Monday.
Seeing that he had temporarily escaped disaster, Qu Zhenguo immediately straightened his back and glared at Mei Si, then waved his fist at her.
"Hurry up and move along! You only have half an hour to shop." Coach Li turned around and saw Qu Zhenguo raising his fist. "Qu Zhenguo, who are you trying to bully?"
"No, my arm is a little uncomfortable." When Qu Zhenguo saw Coach Li turn around, he quickly and awkwardly changed his posture, pretending that his arm was uncomfortable and swinging it around.
Mei Si didn't take Qu Zhenguo's provocation seriously; she had seen many people do this over the years.
Mei Si felt that this action was unnecessary. If she wanted to fight, she should just go for it. However, the people who made this action often did not actually come to fight her.
After walking around, everyone gained a new understanding of Mei Si: she was rich, had tickets, had a sweet tooth, and could eat quite a lot.
After walking around for a while, Coach Li checked his watch and, seeing that it was almost time, led everyone back.
The group entered the restaurant and followed Coach Li inside. The table Coach Li chose had a large screen that separated their table from the main hall into two separate spaces.
The dishes on the table were almost all served, and the aroma was irresistible. Everyone couldn't wait to find a seat and wait for the meal to begin.
While we were outside, no one bought much food. They felt that since we were about to eat, there was no need to waste money.
