"Should we give Mei Si a try?" Coach Li looked around at everyone a few times before asking hesitantly.
"Meisi? Forget it, she's only been on the team for a short time and hasn't thrown a javelin even once. Wei Min seems to get along well with Ding Xin from our team; I've seen her throw a javelin with him." Coach Xu shook his head, thinking Meisi was no good.
"Miss is great at shot put and has a lot of strength. She should be able to throw the javelin more easily. Why don't we let her give it a try?"
"
Coach Tang thought Coach Li's suggestion made some sense, and she thought it would be good for Mei Si to give it a try.
"She's just a teenager, aren't you two a bit too confident in her?" Coach Xu asked, looking at the two of them strangely.
Coach Xu couldn't understand it. Coach Li and Coach Tang were both experienced coaches. They should know that javelin throwing is not just about strength; it requires skill.
Meis is strong, great at shot put, and maybe she can even do discus, but javelin...
"Why don't you let her try and see?" Coach Li said confidently.
Coach Li suddenly had a breakthrough. It was as if he had opened the door to a new world. He realized that Mei Si could do more than just throw the shot put; she could participate in many other sports.
When Mei Si was called outside, she thought Coach Li was going to take her out for a nice meal, and her eyes narrowed into slits with joy.
Mei Si pouted as she looked at the javelin in her hand, wondering why Coach Li had given it to her. She wanted to go out and eat something delicious.
“Meisi, two members of the javelin team, Yu Xiaomai and Yu Xiaosui, have been suspended. I thought you were strong and might be able to help out.”
Coach Li explained.
"I want to eat meat. Lots of meat!" Mays said pitifully, sticking her javelin into the ground.
"..." Coach Li stared at Mei Si for a while, feeling a little uncertain. Was Mei Si threatening him?
"Shall I go upstairs and call Wei Min?" Coach Xu thought Wei Min was more reliable than a child.
"If you finish tomorrow's match, I'll take you out for meat, and you can eat your fill!" Coach Li promised.
"I want to eat tonight," Mei said, rubbing her stomach.
"...I'll take you out for a meal after training, but we can't eat too much this time," Coach Li said, patting his pockets with a pained expression.
"How many meters?" Mei Si was satisfied. She picked up the javelin, weighed it in her hand, and asked.
"What?" Coach Xu, who was standing to the side, did not understand what Mei Si meant.
“70 meters, 70 meters is definitely enough.” Coach Li understood what Mei Si meant and replied directly.
Coach Xu began demonstrating the basic javelin movements to Mei Si, explaining as he went. With only one night to go, Coach Xu no longer expected any results from the women's javelin; he only hoped that Mei Si could imitate the movements as closely as possible.
Mei Si watched from the side with a frown. She felt that she didn't need those running start movements at all, since it was only a 70-meter throw.
"Meisi, although you don't need a running start, you must do these movements," Coach Li said in a low voice as he walked to Meisi's side.
Coach Li didn't know exactly how strong Mei Si was, but he knew that Mei Si could throw 70 meters or even further from a standing position.
To throw that far without a running start is an incredibly impressive feat.
Sometimes being too conspicuous isn't a good thing, especially when they're on foreign soil.
"I understand." Mei Si nodded, indicating that she would make a feint.
After Coach Xu finished explaining, he used his experience to find a place about fifty or sixty meters away to stand and let Mei Si try to throw once.
"Throw it here!" Coach Xu patted himself and shouted.
"Is it okay to just send her to Coach Xu?" Mei Si hesitated. Weren't they forbidden from killing people? Why were they encouraging her?
"Yes, that's fine with him," Coach Li nodded and said.
Mays perfectly replicated Coach Xu's slow-motion reflexes, and just as he was about to throw, he suddenly stopped.
"Are you really going to stab him?"
"..." Coach Xu, who was in the distance, saw Mei Si's slow motion and thought that Mei Si might be teasing him. Who would run so slowly to throw a javelin?
"...You absolutely mustn't aim at Coach Xu! You absolutely mustn't aim at him! You should throw further away," Coach Li said sternly.
Coach Li wanted to laugh when he saw Mei Si's slow motion, but he absolutely couldn't laugh now. If he did, Mei Si might think he was joking and actually stab Coach Xu.
Mei Si's shot made Coach Xu dance with excitement. This is a gold medal prospect! How come we didn't notice her before?
After practicing a few more times, Mei Si said she was hungry and wanted to eat.
Coach Xu and Coach Li exchanged a glance, knowing that with Mei Si's ability, as long as she didn't make any mistakes, she was guaranteed first place tomorrow.
"Come on! I'll take you to eat meat! It's on me today!" Coach Xu said happily, waving his hand.
"No need, I'll treat you today, and you can treat me tomorrow," Coach Li said suddenly, a glint in his eyes.
Coach Li: Meisi has already eaten dinner today, and I'm sure she didn't eat much, so it's worth it for me to treat her.
Mei Si returned to her room with a full belly, but to her surprise, Wu Chunmei was still awake at this hour.
"Why aren't you asleep yet?" Mei Si asked, puzzled. Normally, Wu Chunmei would have been asleep by now.
"It's all because of today's suspension," Wu Chunmei said with a sigh.
"Why are you sighing? You're not suspended." May tilted her head and asked.
"This isn't about being suspended; getting suspended for fighting is perfectly normal!"
"So is it really a suspension or not?" Mei Si couldn't understand Wu Chunmei. One minute she said it was a suspension, the next she said it wasn't.
"It's the person involved, and that person is really disgusting."
Wu Chunmei said through gritted teeth.
"Huh? Annoying? Who? Yu Xiaomai and the others?" Mei Si was even more confused. Didn't Wu Chunmei know Yu Xiaomai and the others? They usually chatted and laughed together, so why was she annoyed now?
"No, no, it's that Bru!" Wu Chunmei ripped at the blanket fiercely, as if that was Bru.
“Then I’ll help you get revenge,” Mei Si said, burrowing into the covers.
"No! You can't fight, or you'll be suspended too!" Wu Chunmei quickly shook her head. Mei Si was their team's gold medalist, and they couldn't let her be ruined by Bru.
"Don't worry, I won't fight," Mei Si said yawning, sounding groggy.
"You can't avoid fighting either. That Blue is cunning. Stay away from him."
"Hmm..."
