Chapter 95

Ever since Mei Liang learned what "side leakage" meant, he wanted to laugh whenever he saw Wang Celou, but he couldn't laugh openly, since Wang Celou was a guest and it would be impolite for him to make fun of someone's name.

"Pfft! Cough cough cough... Um, pfft..." Mei Liang was struggling to suppress his laughter.

The other people at the table also felt uncomfortable looking at him.

"What's wrong with you? Can't you eat properly? If you can't eat, then get down!" Mei's father said impatiently, glaring at Mei Liang.

Qian Tu was filled with regret. She shouldn't have told Mei Liang what "side leakage" meant. Now Mei Liang kept laughing, and everyone was definitely wondering why.

If everyone knew that it was she who said it, the Mei family's impression of her would definitely become very bad!

Thinking of this, Qian Tu kicked Mei Liang hard under the table, hoping to stop him from laughing.

"Ah!" Qian Tu's kick was too hard. Mei Jian yelled and crawled under the table to rub his leg.

"What's wrong with you again? What's going on with you two brothers today? What kind of trouble are you causing?" Mei's mother glanced at Qian Tu, who had her head down, afraid that her impression of Mei Liang and the family would worsen.

Qian Tu now wanted to slap herself. Why hadn't she even glanced at the person before kicking them? Now look what happened, she kicked the wrong person!

Qian Tu: Will Mei Jian know that I kicked him? If he tells anyone, what will the Mei family think of me?

Qian Tu felt increasingly distressed as she thought about it, and tears were about to fall.

Mei Liang knew Qian Tu had kicked the wrong person, and he lost his smile. He patted Qian Tu's hand under the table, signaling her not to be afraid.

"Brother, brother!" Mei Jian, who was bending over and rubbing his legs, tugged at Mei Liang's pants.

"What are you doing?" Mei Liang glanced at everyone, dropped a chopstick on the ground, and bent down to pick it up.

“I want a bicycle,” Mei Jian said softly.

"What do you want? I don't have one!" Mei Liang glared at him, picked up the chopsticks from the ground, and tried to sit up.

"Oh dear!" Mei Jian exclaimed feigned concern.

"Alright! Alright! I know!" Mei Liang quickly tugged at his younger brother's arm and said in a conciliatory manner.

Mei Jian grinned, feeling that the kick was worth it!

"Jianjian, how long have you been under the table? Is there money under the table? Get up and eat properly." Seeing that her grandson had been under the table for a long time, Grandma Mei couldn't help but slap Mei Jianjian's bottom and urge him to get up.

Mei Jian's face turned bright red from the slap, and he immediately refused to get up.

Mei Liang gave Mei Jian a wicked look and then grabbed him and pulled him up.

"Grandma! What are you doing? There are so many people here!" Mei Jian pulled away Mei Liang's hand as soon as he got up, turned to look at Grandma Mei, and said unhappily.

"You know all these old folks? Then why were you hiding under the table for so long?" Grandma Mei rolled her eyes, picked up a piece of cold dish with her chopsticks and put it in Mei Jian's bowl. "Hurry up and eat!"

Mei Liang sat up and leaned closer to Qian Tu, whispering to her that the crisis was over and everything was alright.

Qian Tu glanced at Mei Jian and thought that this younger brother-in-law was really nice. He would definitely buy Mei Jian something when he got paid in a couple of days.

After dinner, Mei Liang took Qian Tu home. After cleaning up the table, Mei's mother sat on the kang (a heated brick bed) with everyone to watch TV.

"Jianjian, you and your brother can sleep next door for a while." Seeing that it was getting late, Mei's mother started to arrange where they would sleep that night.

"Okay, I know. I'll go with my brother when he gets back."

"Auntie, no need to trouble yourself! I can sleep over there by myself. Don't bother Mei Jian and Liang Ge." Wang Ce Lou waved his hand, not wanting Mei Jian and Mei Liang to sleep next door.

Wang Celou: No one has lived there for more than ten years. The kang (heated brick bed) must be very damp. Mei Jian and Mei Liang should sleep there, but don't let them get sick.

"You sleep here, let the two brothers sleep over there, so they'll have some company."

"The kang (heated brick bed) over there is too damp..."

"Don't worry, don't worry, I already heated the kang (heated brick bed) a long time ago." Aunt Mei waved her hand, indicating that she had already heated the kang for her.

That evening, everyone waited until almost 11 o'clock before Mei Liang hummed a song as he entered the house.

"Aren't you all asleep?" Mei Liang was a little surprised to see that everyone was still awake at this hour. He quickly looked down at his watch to make sure he hadn't misread the time.

“Liangliang, I don’t object to you dating Little Rabbit, but why did you take so long to come back? It’s not a big deal for a young man like you to come back a little late, but Little Rabbit is a girl. Her family must be so worried when she comes back so late.”

"Haa... yawn, it's the middle of the night, and there are mosquitoes everywhere. Aren't you afraid of getting bitten? You can talk about it during the day!" Grandma Mei yawned, also feeling that it was wrong for her grandson to drag the young girl out to chat so late at night.

Seeing everyone's disapproving expressions, Mei Liang felt incredibly frustrated. How did dating become a family affair? He couldn't even spend more time with his partner?

Mei Jian felt very sorry for Mei Liang, but he wouldn't tell Mei Liang that the reason his family was nagging him was because he came home too late and kept them from sleeping.

Because they went to bed late the night before, the next morning, everyone in the Mei family except for Grandma Mei woke up at the same time.

The few people working at the Mei family's workplace didn't even have time for breakfast. Each of them grabbed two pancakes, stuffed them in their pockets, got on their bikes, and left.

Mei Si and her brother, along with Wang Celou, had just finished having breakfast with Grandma Mei when they heard someone honking a horn outside the door.

"It seems to be at our doorstep. Could they be looking for someone from our family?" Grandma Mei craned her neck to look at the gate and asked uncertainly.

"I'll go out and take a look." Mei Jian took a sip of porridge, wiped his mouth, stood up, and left the room.

Mei Jian walked to the gate of the courtyard and looked at the people in the car, feeling that they looked somewhat familiar.

"Jianjian, is your sister here?" Hu Qing saw Mei Jian come out and quickly got out of the car to greet her.
