Chapter 39

As Aunt Li ran around the children, she noticed that Mei Si kept looking back at her, as if she couldn't understand what she was doing.

Aunt Li: It seems this child has never played this game before. Well, she grew up at home, so she might have learned a little math, but parents can't play games with a lot of people like this.

Aunt Li tossed her handkerchief behind a child and ran over to squat down next to Mei Si.

"Sisi, you haven't played this game before, have you? Auntie will tell you how to play it. Look, Chenbao is holding a handkerchief and looking for the next child who wants to drop it. She just needs to drop the handkerchief behind another child, and... Do you understand? You'll get it if you play it a few more times. It's very interesting." Aunt Li patiently explained the game to Meisi.

"..." Mei Si looked at Aunt Li with a hesitant expression, not understanding what the use of this thing called "game" was.

"Is there anything else you don't understand?" Aunt Li thought Mei Si hadn't understood.

"Why do you do this?" When Aunt Li asked, Mei Si decided to ask her properly why she was dropping the handkerchief.

"...Just to make you happy!" Aunt Li regretted her loose tongue. Why did she ask? She should have kept quiet after explaining the rules of the game.

“Happy? I don’t…” Mei Si still didn’t understand the meaning of this handkerchief-dropping game.

"Sisi, it's your turn, hurry up and chase after them!" Aunt Li really didn't want to answer Mei Si's questions anymore. Seeing someone throw a handkerchief behind Mei Si, she simply told her to go after the person.

Lin Meili had been watching carefully when she was dropping the handkerchief. She knew that the new fat girl couldn't outrun her, and she was talking to the aunt the whole time. She secretly dropped the handkerchief behind her, and the girl definitely wouldn't notice.

Mei Si was interrupted and immediately followed Aunt Li's instructions to chase after the person who dropped the handkerchief. Mei Si quickly caught up with Lin Meili and grabbed her as she was about to squat down.

"Oh! We caught him!" the children cheered.

Lin Meili pouted, intending to continue holding the handkerchief.

“Auntie! You’re cheating! Mei Si didn’t even notice that Mei Li dropped the handkerchief behind her. You were the one who told her!” Zhou Hang suddenly stood up and shouted, pointing at Aunt Li.

“…It’s my fault. Here, give me the handkerchief. I’ll do it this time.” Aunt Li paused, then had no choice but to stand up and be the one to drop the handkerchief.

"Hehehe..." Lin Meili stuck out her tongue at Mei Si, squatted down, and ignored Mei Si.

This time, Aunt Li learned her lesson. After successfully dropping the handkerchief again, she stopped participating in the game and found a spot furthest away from Mei Si to stand and watch everyone play.

After several people changed hands, Lin Meili became the one dropping the handkerchief again. She thought that Mei Si was able to catch her last time because of Aunt Li's help, and this time she would definitely squat there stupidly, not knowing anything.

Lin Meili skipped past Mei Si, casually tossing down her handkerchief and continuing to run forward while secretly laughing to herself.

But she was too happy too soon. She hadn't run more than a few steps when someone grabbed her by the back of her collar.

"Here." Mei Si tossed the handkerchief to Lin Meili expressionlessly, intending to go back to squatting.

"Waaah! You cheated again!" Lin Meili pouted, on the verge of tears. She couldn't believe that a fat person could run faster than her, and she was sure that Mei Si had cheated again.

"Lin Meili, you clearly can't outrun Meisi, why are you saying Meisi cheated? It's clearly you who cheated!" Liu Jiajia disliked Lin Meili's habit of crying at the drop of a hat, and she stood up to speak for Meisi with a strong sense of justice.

"Who can outrun her? She's as fat as a pig, how could she possibly run faster than me? She must have cheated!" Lin Meili was annoyed by Liu Jiajia, who was always going against her, and felt that Liu Jiajia was always meddling in other people's business.

"Don't look down on me! So what if you're fat? You can still run faster than me!"

"Alright, alright, stop arguing. We're all good friends, we shouldn't fight." Aunt Li came over and stopped the two of them from arguing any further.

"Auntie, she cheated!" Liu Jiajia said, pointing at Lin Meili.

"Who's cheating? You're the one cheating!" Lin Meili shouted at Liu Jiajia.

"Alright, stop arguing. If you keep arguing, Auntie won't like you two anymore." Aunt Li looked at the two of them with a stern face, not understanding why the usually harmonious children had started arguing over a game.

"We've played this game enough, let's change to another one. How about we play Eagle Catches Chickens?" Aunt Li felt that playing Drop the Handkerchief was not suitable for today, so she decided to change to another game.

"Oh~! Let's play Eagle Catches Chickens!" The children were a little confused by Lin Meili and Liu Jiajia's argument, but when Aunt Li announced that they would change the game, they immediately forgot about the unpleasantness between the two.
