"Mom, I'll have the leak treated in a couple of days. It won't make a difference if we wait a couple more days," Mei Si said calmly.
“Sisi, meeting our in-laws is a big deal, how can we just change the time? Absolutely not!” Qian Tu waved her hand, disagreeing with her sister-in-law’s decision to change the time. She turned to her mother-in-law and said, “Mom, when Mei Liang comes back later, I’ll go and tell him that we won’t go to the restaurant tomorrow.”
"You guys are so stupid! Aiguo and the others coming over gives you a perfect excuse to leave work early. It's that simple!" Grandma Mei rolled her eyes and said.
"Hey? Now that Mom says so... it really works!" After thinking about it carefully, Mei's mother thought that Grandma Mei's idea was good. Meeting the in-laws was a big deal. If they left work early, Old Mei and her son wouldn't be able to say anything to them.
The next morning, Mei's mother and Qian Tu walked out of the house with their heads held high. Mei's father and Mei Liang exchanged a glance, not expecting that they would actually dare to go.
"That's even better. When that brat Wang Celou comes this afternoon, I'll have to teach him a lesson." Mei's father cracked his knuckles, intending to give Wang Celou a good beating.
All morning, Mei's mother and Qian Tu were extremely busy at the restaurant, solving whatever problems they could.
If they couldn't resolve it, they would simply postpone it until the afternoon, telling the waiter to call the boss at 2 PM.
Waiter: Why does it have to be at 2 PM? Can't we call now?
Mei's father and son Mei Liang were also having a hard time at home; they were almost driven crazy by Mei Qian's financial troubles.
When Mei Qian realized that his father and grandfather were home with him today, he immediately jumped up excitedly!
One minute he wanted to ride on a big horse, the next he wanted to ride on his neck, and then he wanted to be lifted high in the air. The father and son were exhausted, covered in sweat and panting heavily.
They were puzzled. Meiqian usually seemed quite well-behaved. What was wrong with her today?
How can someone be so crazy?
Meiqian was crazy all morning, but in the afternoon he started to get sleepy, crying and shouting for his mother and grandmother.
Riding him on a big horse or lifting him high in the air no longer worked; no matter how the father and son tried to coax him, it was no use.
The child was crying so hard it broke their hearts, and they wanted to ask Grandma Mei, who was watching TV in her room, for help, but they couldn't bring themselves to ask.
Just as Grandma Mei was getting anxious in her room and was about to come out to comfort the child, the Wang family entered.
Mr. Mei blushed and quickly handed his grandson to Mei Liang, asking him to take him to Grandma Mei.
"Ahem! You're here!" Dad Mei said dryly, smoothing his hair which his grandson had messed up.
"Hmm, look at your body..." Wang's father pointed to the damp spot on Mei's father's leg.
"Oh dear! That brat Mei Qian peed on me. I'm going to change my clothes. You guys sit down first." Mei's father quickly got up and went back to the room to change his clothes.
"What's going on here? Where are Fifth Sister and Qian Tu? Why are two grown men at home taking care of the children?" Looking at the messy living room, Wang Ma really couldn't understand what was wrong with the Mei family.
Seeing that the living room was in a terrible mess, Wang Ma got up and started tidying up Mei Qian's toys.
Wang Celou also went out to get a broom and started helping to sweep the floor.
"We rushed here and finally made it! Oh dear! What are you doing? Put it down quickly!" When Mei's mother walked into the living room, she looked up and saw that Wang's mother and Wang Ce Lou were actually cleaning their house. Her face turned red instantly.
"Why are you helping to clean up? Give it to me!" Mei's mother quickly stepped forward to snatch the rag from Wang's mother's hand.
"It's alright, it'll be cleaned up soon." Wang Ma blocked Mei Ma's hand, preventing her from taking the rag.
Mei Si parked the car and walked in with her sister-in-law, only to see Mei's mother and Wang's mother tearing each other apart.
"Mom, Auntie, what are you two doing?" Meiska blinked, not understanding what was so interesting about fighting over a rag.
"Ce Lou, give me the broom!" Qian Tu hung up his bag and clothes, walked over to Wang Ce Lou, and said apologetically.
Wang Celou nodded to Qian Tu, called her "sister-in-law," and handed her the broom.
Wang Ma neatly wiped the last table and handed the rag back to Mei Ma.
"Where's Lao Mei? What's he doing? This is really outrageous of him. How could he let you guys clean the house?" Mei's mother handed a rag to Qian Tu and pulled Wang's mother to sit down, asking.
"Here you are! Why are you back?" Mei's father changed his clothes, combed his hair, and washed his face before he felt comfortable coming out.
"Hmph! If I hadn't come back, you two would have torn the roof off! Look at the mess you've made of this house!" Mom Mei glared at Dad Mei and said angrily.
"Ring ring... Ring ring..." The landline in the hall suddenly rang.
When Mei's mother looked at the time, it was exactly 2 o'clock, and she immediately knew whose call it was.
"Don't answer it here, go back inside to answer it," said Aunt Mei, her expression unnatural.
Mr. Mei paused, gave Mrs. Mei a suspicious look, and then turned around and went back into the house to answer the phone.
"Where did you go just now? Why did you leave two old men to watch the child? When I came in, Meiqian was crying so hard her voice was hoarse." After holding back for a long time, Wang Ma finally decided to ask.
"It's all because of gender equality!"
Mei's mother started telling Wang's mother about gender equality in their family, and Wang's mother couldn't help but laugh.
"Pfft! You guys are hilarious!"
"Hey? How are you doing at the restaurant? Are you adjusting well?"
"Ahem! Not bad, we've solved everything we could figure out." Aunt Mei coughed lightly and said seriously.
"What about those things you don't understand?"
“If you can’t figure it out… just have the waiter find someone who can. Look, the phone is ringing!” Aunt Mei pointed to the door and said.
