Coconut Silk sat quietly on the kang (a heated brick bed) with her bowl in hand, eating meat. Grandma Hao kept a close eye on her the whole time, afraid that she would eat too much meat.
Coconut glanced at Grandma Hao, feeling that she was going to steal the meat, so she simply turned her bowl around and continued eating the meat with her back to Grandma Hao.
Grandma Hao was right about one thing: after eating a bowl of meat with coconut flakes, you really couldn't eat anything else.
She didn't respond when her mother called her to eat. Compared to rice, she felt that it was more practical to fill her belly with meat.
At the end of the meal, there were still two pieces of meat left in the bowl. She couldn't eat any more coconut flakes, and there was no room in her stomach for the two pieces of meat.
Coconut Silk stared at the two pieces of meat in the bowl, lost in thought...
"Brother!" Ye Si decided to give the meat to the half-grown cub who lived with her, and then ask him for it back when she wanted to eat meat in the future.
"What's wrong?" Mei Liang finished eating and waited for his brothers, ready to go out and play together.
"Right!" Ye Si handed the bowl to Mei Liang.
"For...for me?" Mei Liang looked at the two pieces of meat in the bowl, hesitating to reach out and take them.
Mei Liang had never seen his younger sister share her food with anyone else, even though she really wanted to eat it.
Mei Liang: It's a trap, isn't it? If I take it, she'll definitely wail!
“My daughter has made something of herself; she even knows to give meat to her brother. Why don’t I see you feeding me?” Mei’s father quickly sat down next to his daughter, glared at Mei Liang, and waited for his daughter to feed him meat.
"Eat!" Coconut frowned and pushed the bowl forward again.
Mei Liang glanced at his father. With witnesses present, if he took the money, even if his sister cried, it wouldn't be his problem anymore, right?
"Why are you looking at me? Just eat it if I give it to you! Humph!" When Mei's father saw that his daughter didn't give it to him, he got angry, glared at Mei Liang fiercely, and turned to leave.
"Thank you, Sisi is such a good girl!" Mei Liang said, taking the bowl and patting Ye Si's head as he praised her, seeing that Mei's father had agreed.
Coconut sat beside Mei Liang as she devoured the two pieces of meat and began to wonder when she could get her meat back.
Although it was dinner time in the evening, the Hao brothers and their families arrived early in the afternoon.
With a large family, they all wanted to come over early to help with cooking, but there were exceptions, like Uncle Hao and Aunt Hao, who were nowhere to be seen.
"Come here, Sisi, look, these are your eldest brother, second brother, third brother... seventh brother." Mei's mother pointed out her seven brothers to her daughter one by one.
“…Brother?” Ye Si looked at the cubs with a blank expression, not understanding why so many of them were calling him brother.
Coconut Flakes: Where is the baby I just gave meat to? Why are there so many of them? Is it trying to renege on its promise?
“You’re right to call him brother.” Mei’s mother knew that her daughter was confused by what she said. Mei’s mother was also helpless. Her brothers all had sons, and she sometimes got them mixed up, let alone her daughter.
Coconut looked back and forth at the men, trying to find the one she had given meat to earlier. But after looking for a long time, she could only eliminate the ones whose height didn't match. There were still three that were about the same height.
She glanced at this and then at that, deciding that she would ask them for meat when it was time for dinner.
Coconut flakes: It's not safe for the meat to stay with the cubs; it's safer for them to eat it.
As dinner time approached, the aroma of meat wafted into the house. Coconut Silk had digested quite a bit of the meat in its belly, and the smell made its mouth water.
"You little glutton, look at how fat you are, you must have eaten a lot of meat!" Uncle Hao sat down next to Ye Si, took out a handkerchief from his pocket to wipe Ye Si's drool, and said with a smile.
"Dad! Mine! My handkerchief!" Three-year-old Hao Xiaopang was unhappy when he saw his third uncle using his handkerchief to wipe someone else's mouth.
"I know it's yours," Uncle Hao replied casually, not understanding his son's meaning.
"Mine! Mine!" Little Fatty panicked when he saw that Uncle Hao, knowing full well that it was his handkerchief, was still wiping the fat man's mouth.
Little Fatty quickly stood up and rushed towards Coconut Silk, trying to push her away and prevent her from using his things.
"Why are you running so fast, you little rascal? Be careful not to fall!" Uncle Hao reached out and scooped his son up in his arms, then slapped him on the bottom.
Uncle Hao's slap didn't hurt at all, and Little Fatty didn't take it seriously. He stretched his arm hard in Uncle Hao's arms to reach for the coconut flakes, trying to push her away.
"What are you doing? Want to play with your sister?" Uncle Hao chuckled, released his son, and let him go find the coconut flakes.
As soon as Little Fatty was free, he immediately pushed Coconut Silk aside, and because he used too much force, he ended up lying on top of Coconut Silk.
Uncle Hao's expression changed, and he quickly picked up his chubby son, fearing that he might crush the coconut shreds.
"Aaaaaaahhhhhh (You dare to ambush me! I challenge you to a duel!)!" Coconut got up, eager to challenge Little Fatty to a duel.
"Come here, let me see, is there anything that hurts?" Uncle Hao stepped forward and picked up Yesi, who was rushing towards Xiaopang, while checking her arms and legs and observing Yesi's expression.
"How is it?" Uncle Hao looked on nervously, and couldn't help but slap the little fat boy who kept moving around in his arms again, thinking that this kid really deserved a beating.
"It's alright! If it hurt, she would have cried already!" Uncle Hao chuckled, tossing the coconut flakes around. He found the two chubby boys bickering amusing. "Your eyes need fixing! Little Fatty doesn't want to play with Sisi; judging by his expression, he clearly wants to fight!"
"Little Fatty, what's wrong with you? Sisi is your younger sister, she's younger than you, how could you push her?" Uncle Hao turned his son around, lifted him up, and made him face him, angrily scolding him.
"Juanjuan, mine!" Little Fatty pouted, on the verge of tears, when he saw that Uncle Hao was siding with the coconut shreds.
"What silk?" Uncle Hao was stunned, not understanding why Little Fatty was so aggrieved after pushing someone.
"He's angry because you just gave his handkerchief to Sisi," Uncle Hao said, pinching the chubby boy's cheek.
"You brat, why are you so stingy? Sisi is your sister, what can't you use? Your grandparents have really spoiled you!" Uncle Hao frowned as he looked at Little Fatty, feeling that Little Fatty needed to be properly disciplined in the future.
