"Wang Celou! You're here! Happy New Year!" Chu Baqi bumped into Wang Celou, who was taking out the trash, before she could even enter the house. She quickly smoothed her hair and greeted him.
"Happy New Year." Wang Celou nodded, took out the trash, and turned to go inside.
Chu Baqi's smile froze. She hadn't expected Wang Celou to say just three words when he saw her. Did he think she was that annoying?
"Is he still holding a grudge against me for teasing him? Male leads are all so petty!" Chu Baqi muttered to herself.
Knowing that the male lead had arrived, Chu Baqi hurried home to find her grandmother. Her grandmother had mentioned yesterday that she would visit the Yu family to offer New Year's greetings once her grandmother returned.
"Grandma! Grandma!" Chu Baqi shouted as soon as she entered the door.
"What are you yelling about so early in the morning? You only have amnesia, how come your personality has changed?" Aunt Chu frowned as she looked at Chu Baqi, who rushed in like a gust of wind.
Chubachi: Oh no! My persona is ruined!
"Alright, alright! This is more like a 17-year-old. What's so good about her being so timid and hesitant before?" Mr. Chu thought it was great that his daughter was so energetic.
"What do you mean by being timid and hesitant? That's called being a lady, being polite! What do you, a grown man, know?" Aunt Chu rolled her eyes at Father Chu and said.
"Ha! A lady? Look at yourself, what kind of person are you? You should try to become a lady first!" Father Chu said, glaring at his sister.
"Hey? What do you mean? You think I'm rude?" Aunt Chu put her hands on her hips and stood in front of Mr. Chu, intending to have a good talk with him.
Seeing that things were going badly, Chu Baqi quickly shrank back to her room. The "war" between the Chu siblings had started again, and as the eldest daughter, it was best for her not to stay there.
Seeing that the brother and sister were about to start fighting again, Uncle Chu quickly went upstairs to the study to get reinforcements.
"Look at the two of you, you're both in your fifties or sixties, how come you still start fighting at the drop of a hat?" Grandpa Chu sat on the sofa and slapped the coffee table as he scolded.
"Dad, he said that to me first!" Aunt Chu rolled her eyes at her father and said.
"How can you talk like that? You don't even call me 'brother'!" Grandpa Chu glared at his daughter and scolded her.
When Chu's father turned around, he saw Chu Baqi peeking out from the stairwell and looking in his direction. He immediately felt a bit annoyed; his daughter had seen him being scolded.
"Dad, I was wrong. I promise I won't argue with Lili anymore." Mr. Chu quickly admitted his mistake, hoping that Mr. Chu would forgive him.
"Alright! Go do what you need to do." Grandpa Chu saw the head at the bottom of the stairs and knew it wasn't good to scold his son in front of his granddaughter, so he waved his hand and let Chu's father go first.
Aunt Chu thought Grandpa Chu had finished speaking, so she turned around and wanted to go back to her room.
"Don't go, I haven't finished yet! Look at you, how old are you, how come you're still so unsteady..." Grandpa Chu called out to his daughter and continued to scold her.
Chu Baqi searched upstairs but couldn't find Grandma Chu. She knew Grandma might be in the kitchen, so she went downstairs to go there, but she didn't dare to show her face at the top of the stairs.
If Chu's father were being scolded, it would be really unreasonable for her to just walk past him nonchalantly.
Fortunately, Grandpa Chu let Chu's father leave. Chu Baqi glanced at her aunt who had her back to her, and then quietly slipped into the kitchen next door.
Grandpa Chu found it amusing to see his granddaughter sneaking around, but he pretended not to notice.
When Aunt Chu saw that Grandpa Chu was silent, she thought he was preparing a big move. But when she looked up, she saw her old man smiling.
The old man hardly ever smiles all year round. What could he have seen? Aunt Chu quickly turned around to look, but saw nothing.
"Dad, what are you laughing at?"
"Be serious! You're a mother now, don't be so proper!" Grandpa Chu scolded his daughter, his face hardening as he saw her grinning.
During the Chu family's meal, Chu Baqi became restless, staring at Grandma Chu's bowl for a while and turning her head to look outside.
Seeing that Grandma Chu had finally finished eating, she quickly put down her chopsticks and stood up impatiently.
"Why are you eating so little?" When Chu's mother saw that her daughter was about to leave the table after eating two dumplings, she thought that her daughter was not feeling well.
"I'm not hungry." Chubachi went straight upstairs to her room to change her clothes.
She hadn't changed her clothes earlier because she was afraid of getting them dirty while eating. Now that she had finished eating, Chubachi quickly went back to her room to change into her pretty clothes.
Chu Baqi: When I meet the male lead, of course I have to let him see the most beautiful me. I guess he didn't want to talk to me just now because I was disheveled. He was a prince in his previous life, so he must be very particular about these things.
It was an hour later when Chubachi finished dressing and came downstairs.
Grandma Chu wasn't in a hurry at all. She had long noticed that her granddaughter was interested in Guiping's grandson, and she knew that she would dress up before meeting someone she liked.
In previous years, Yu Guiping would visit their home to offer New Year's greetings. This year, she took the initiative to visit because she wanted to thank Wang Celou for taking care of her granddaughter.
Wang Celou has been a great help to my granddaughter. If it weren't for him, she might not even want to see anyone right now!
Wang Celou is good-looking, young and steady. Although his family background is not good, that doesn't matter. As long as he is good to his granddaughter, that's enough.
Grandma Chu, accompanied by her granddaughter, arrived at the door carrying a net bag full of canned food.
Grandma Yu was taken aback when she saw Grandma Chu, not understanding why Grandma Chu had come to her house on her own initiative. She suddenly looked at her grandson to the side, and then glanced at Chu Baqi, and immediately understood why Grandma Chu had come to visit.
Wang Celou poured tea for the two of them and then turned to go back into the house. Grandma Yu was so quick that she didn't have time to stop him.
"Lou Lou didn't sleep well last night, and he got up early this morning to ride his bike and bring me here. He must be exhausted." Grandma Yu smiled awkwardly at Grandma Chu and quickly explained for her grandson.
