Chapter 5 Steamed Egg Custard

After drinking milk, Coconut Sis took another nap. When she woke up, Grandma Mei warmed up milk for Coconut Sis, just like yesterday.

But when Ye Si saw that there was only half a bowl of water in the bowl, she immediately got angry.

"Aaaaaah (Who's going to eat this much?)?" Coconut shouted angrily at Grandma Mei.

"Don't move around, finish eating before you play!" Grandma Mei pinched Coconut's cheek and said.

"Ah... um!" Coconut Silk wanted to protest, but Grandma Mei quickly stuffed her mouth with milk.

In the spirit of not wasting anything, Coconut Flakes decided to finish eating before having a discussion with this wrinkled creature.

After finishing the half-bowl of milk, Coconut started to protest loudly, but Grandma Mei acted as if she didn't hear her and took the bowl into the kitchen.

"Aaaaaaahhhhhh (How dare you ignore me! I'm going to fight you!)!" Coconut slapped the edge of the kang (a heated brick bed) and yelled at Grandma Mei.

"Coming, coming, what's the rush!" Grandma Mei came into the house with a bowl of steamed egg custard.

Coconut sniffed, thinking that although the yellowish stuff didn't have a strong smell, it looked delicious.

"Look at how greedy you are! Don't worry, it's all yours!" Grandma Mei had already estimated the time her granddaughter would wake up and steamed the egg custard. She had left it in the pot without taking it out, and now that she had taken it out, the temperature was just right.

I fell in love with the taste of coconut flakes from the very first bite. They're chewy, smooth, and melt in your mouth.

"Mmm, ahh, miamia..." Coconut Silk has been here for two days and has finally been able to eat food other than plain water. She feels very happy.

"Is it that delicious? Haven't you tried it before?" Grandma Mei was a little puzzled as she watched her granddaughter eat with such relish. She hadn't really liked it when she made it for her before. Was it because she wasn't full? That's why it tasted so good?

Grandma Mei used to make steamed egg custard. Her little granddaughter would usually only eat half a bowl before refusing to eat any more, leaving the other half for her eldest grandson, Mei Liang, to finish when he came home in the evening.

But Mei Liang wasn't in for a treat today. He ate so much coconut flakes that his belly was round and full, and he lay sprawled on the kang (heated brick bed) with a happy expression. He fell asleep on his own before Grandma Mei could even pat him.

"Why has this child suddenly developed a liking for steamed egg custard? It seems we don't need to worry about her losing weight these next few days." Grandma Mei shook her head with amusement as she looked at Ye Si's happy little face.

When Mei Liang came home in the evening, the first thing he did was run to the table to drink water. After drinking the water, he subconsciously sniffed.

When he entered the house, he felt that something was wrong. As if he had thought of something, he quickly ran to the kitchen trash can and saw that there were eggshells inside. His eyes lit up.

"Grandma, where's the steamed egg custard?" Mei Liang hadn't had steamed egg custard for a long time, and now just thinking about its taste made his mouth water.

"No." Grandma Mei, who was wearing reading glasses and mending clothes on the kang, replied without looking up when she heard her eldest grandson's words.

"Don't lie to me, I can see the eggshell!" Mei Liang ran to Grandma Mei in a few steps and looked at her anxiously.

"There really isn't any left. Your little sister ate them all," Grandma Mei said helplessly, looking up.

"Oh~!" Mei Liang was a little disappointed to hear that the steamed egg custard had gone into his sister's stomach, but he wasn't angry.

With no good food left, Mei Liang started looking for other things to do. Since his younger sister wasn't asleep, he climbed onto the kang (a heated brick bed) intending to play with her for a while.

"Sisi, look at me!" Mei Liang, with his bottom sticking out, lay on the kang (a heated brick bed) and started playing games with Ye Si.

"...[rolls eyes]" Coconut doesn't like this half-grown cub at all, because he can eat with the adult beasts.

"Look at me! Mmm... Cat~! Mmm... Cat~! Mmm..." Mei Liang and Ye Si were playing hide-and-seek.

He covered his face with his hands, then suddenly removed them. His sister used to laugh out loud every time she saw him do that.

Coconut found this cub incredibly annoying. Was his face bothering him? Why did he keep covering it?

Seeing that Mei Liang had been covering his face for a long time, Ye Si decided to help him.

"Slap!" Ye Si slapped Mei Liang across the face as he removed his hands.

“…[Stunned]” Mei Liang did not expect his sister to suddenly slap him in the face.

Grandma Mei heard the noise and turned around. She saw that her granddaughter had caused trouble, so she quickly took the coconut shreds to her side before Mei Liang could react.

"Go do your homework, your parents will be back soon and it will be time for dinner." Seeing that Mei Liang had come to his senses, Grandma Mei urged him to do his homework.

“She…” Mei Liang pointed angrily at the coconut flakes, wanting to say something more.

"Go on, your dad might bring back some good food today. If you behave well, Grandma will ask your dad to give you more."

Grandma Mei bribed Mei Liang with food.

"Then I'll go do my homework." As soon as Mei Liang heard there was something delicious to eat, he immediately forgot about being slapped in the face, quickly got off the kang (heated brick bed), put on his shoes, and ran to the next room to obediently do his homework.

"You little brat, how could you hit your brother? Be careful your brother beats you up!" Grandma Mei said, tapping the little coconut shred's nose as she watched Mei Liang leave.

"Huh?" Coconut looked up at Grandma Mei in confusion. Seeing that she didn't have anything to say to her, she continued to rummage at her extra toe.

Mei's father came home quite late that night, but he brought back a piece of salted meat. Mei Liang jumped up and down when he saw the meat, insisting on eating it.

"You can't eat it today. The food is all prepared. Grandma will cook some for you tomorrow," Grandma Mei promised.

Seeing that the salted pork was quite large, Grandma Mei decided to cook some vegetables with the fatty pork for Mei Liang the next day to satisfy his craving.

Grandma Mei: Lean meat is fine for my little granddaughter's rice cereal, but I'll give the fatty meat to my eldest grandson.

During dinner, Mei's father wanted to eat with coconut shreds like he did yesterday, but coconut shreds crawled to the very back of the kang (heated brick bed) and refused to touch Mei's father.

Since they're not giving them any food, why should Coconut Shreds just watch them eat? Coconut Shreds decided to avoid seeing it and not bothering them.

Coconut Silk sat with its back to the dining table, continuing to study its own body structure.

"What's wrong with this child today? Is she unhappy?" When Mei's father saw that his daughter was ignoring him, he thought someone had upset her.

"Nobody upset her. She's happy today; she even ate a whole bowl of steamed egg custard." Grandma Mei felt that her granddaughter had nothing to be unhappy about.

"But she won't let me hug her anymore [resentful]. Mei Liang, did you bully your sister?" Mei's father asked Mei Liang, who was secretly laughing, with a stern face.

The more Mei's father thought about it, the more he felt that his daughter didn't like him. He must have done something to upset his daughter.

"I didn't bully her! She just hit me!" Mei Liang felt deeply wronged. How could his sister ignoring their father be related to him?

Mei's father is usually very biased; his daughter always comes first. If it's confirmed that Mei Liang really bullied his daughter, he'll definitely give him a good beating.

"She hit you?" Mei's father thought his son couldn't even make up a lie. How could his little daughter possibly hit Mei Liang?

"Really! You can ask my grandma if you don't believe me."

Mei Liang felt wronged whenever he thought about it.

"Ahem! Eat properly! Do you still want to eat meat tomorrow?" Grandma Mei coughed lightly and gave her son a wink.
