When Grandma Yu heard that her daughter had opened a shop and there was no one to help look after it, she volunteered to help without Wang Ma even having to ask.
On her first day at the shop, Yu Guiping got up very early, dressed herself up smartly, and took the earliest bus to the shop.
Wang Celou was worried that Grandma Yu wouldn't remember the prices, so he specially put a small note on each piece of clothing on the wall, so that customers wouldn't have to ask the price of each piece of clothing one by one.
Yu Guiping really enjoys running the shop. When she sits down in the shop, she immediately feels like she's become the big boss, someone who's superior to everyone else.
Yu Guiping felt quite comfortable for the first few days. The new store had just opened, and the surrounding people hadn't discovered it yet, so very few people came to buy clothes.
However, after selling a few pieces of clothing, Yu Guiping no longer had time to eat melon seeds and drink tea. Every time she saw a customer off, she had to hang the clothes back on the empty wall.
She had finally finished hanging up the clothes and was just about to take a break when new customers came in to buy clothes.
Yu Guiping suddenly realized that nowadays it seems everyone has a few cents and can afford to buy a wool sweater.
After enduring it for a few more days, Yu Guiping couldn't take it anymore. As soon as she got home that night, she called her daughter to complain and asked her to quit her job and go to the store to sell clothes.
Wang Celou knew it was almost time for Grandma Yu to quit. He happened to have no classes the next day, so he went to the shop early in the morning with the job posting he had written.
Yu Guiping was very happy to see her grandson. She poured him water and gave him some sunflower seeds to eat.
"Grandma, don't bother, sit down and rest." Wang Celou helped Grandma Yu sit down, not letting her keep running around.
"By the way, Lou Lou, have you had breakfast? If not, I'll go buy you some. The steamed buns and wontons at that shop across the street are pretty good." Yu Guiping had just sat down when she remembered that her grandson had come so early and probably hadn't eaten breakfast, so she got up and went across the street to buy him breakfast.
"Please sit down! I've finished eating." Wang Celou pressed down on Grandma Yu's shoulder, preventing her from standing up.
"Did you really eat it?"
"I really ate it."
"Then drink water. It's windy outside, and it's easy to get thirsty, so drink more water!" Yu Guiping pushed the teacup towards Wang Celou and said.
"good."
After taking a few sips of water, Wang Celou took out a paper slip from his pocket and opened it.
"This is... a job posting?" Yu Guiping looked at the words on the paper and was a little confused as to why her grandson was holding a job posting.
“Well, you’re too busy here, we need to hire someone to help you.” Wang Ce Lou went straight to the window and pasted the paper sheet facing outwards on the window.
“Why hire anyone? Just have your mom quit her job, then we’ll have someone. Hiring is such a waste of money!” Yu Guiping felt that it was unnecessary to spend money on hiring people, and that it was cheaper to use her own family.
"Grandma, my mom isn't suited to selling clothes. When she sets up her stall at the night market, she always tries to give people a discount as soon as they try to bargain with her."
"What's the big deal? It's the price. Take it or leave it!" Yu Guiping rolled her eyes and said.
"The main problem is, how much would it cost to hire someone? How much is my mom's monthly salary? If I make my mom quit her job, we'll be losing money."
Yu Guiping did the math and realized that it was true. She had only thought about how her family members would earn money selling clothes, and that all the money would be in their own pockets. She had forgotten that her daughter's salary was quite high, and it wouldn't be worth it for her to quit her job.
Having convinced Grandma Yu, Wang Celou recruited staff within a few days. To motivate her employees to sell clothes, Wang Celou promised that she would earn an extra yuan for every piece of clothing sold.
Yu Guiping was initially somewhat resentful about her grandson paying the female worker extra wages, feeling it was completely unnecessary and a waste of money.
However, when she saw her increasingly bulging wallet, Yu Guiping fell silent.
Grandma Yu calmed down, and the clothing store's business became increasingly prosperous. Wang Celou saw the potential of the clothing industry and decided to continue this business.
More than a year has passed in the blink of an eye, and Mei Si is now 20 years old, finally reaching the legal marriage age.
Mei Si had been hoping that Wang Celou would bring up marriage and propose to her since the first day of the Lunar New Year, but Wang Celou still hadn't made any move by the end of the first month.
Mei Si grew impatient and finally decided to take the advice of the authors in the group and propose herself.
Following the "marriage conditions" proposed by the authors in the group, Mei Si first took a driving test and bought a red Red Arrow sedan as a dowry. According to them, having a car for the wedding makes one look more prestigious.
Because apartment buildings have become popular in the last two years, the bungalows that were bought as wedding homes in the past are outdated, so Mei Si bought three new apartments on the same floor as wedding homes.
These things were all done in secret. Mei Si didn't tell anyone. Whenever her family or Wang Ce Lou asked her what she was busy with, Mei Si would use training as an excuse.
Once or twice is fine, but if she keeps saying this, Wang Celou becomes suspicious. Wang Celou is currently busy with the renovation of his fifth clothing store and cannot catch Mei Si for the time being.
He decided to wait a couple of days until he was done with things here, then grab Mei Si and give her a good talking to. He had a feeling that the girl was up to something again.
That day, the new store was finally renovated. Wang Celou was just about to go to the Mei family's house when he received a call from the class monitor, who said he had something urgent to discuss with him and asked him to come back to school immediately.
Wang Ce Lou glanced at the phone that had been hung up, frowned. Why was he told to hurry to school without any reason?
Wang Celou felt that something was strange.
When Wang Celou arrived at the school, he found a large crowd gathered at the main gate. He glanced at them, decided not to join the commotion, and turned to leave through the side gate.
"Wang Celou, you're here! Come quick!" The squad leader ran to Wang Celou's side and grabbed him, trying to squeeze into the crowd.
