Chapter 26 The Weak
Qu Zheng pasted the interior design of the scrap steel plant on a display board and circled the three entrances with a red pen.
He glanced solemnly at the assembled team members and announced, "After more than a week of investigation, we've basically confirmed that the suspects, Luo Dajian, Niu Ling, and Zhang Peng, are hiding in this scrap steel mill. The technical investigation team has already mapped out our route for this operation. I'll just briefly discuss the personnel allocation."
After everyone nodded, Qu Zheng began to deploy the forces. "We have a total of twelve officers. The abducted children are primarily concentrated in the scrap steel mill, so our primary focus must be on rescuing the children to prevent the suspect from taking hostages. Ma Qi, you will lead seven colleagues to infiltrate the steel mill. Xu Pin, you will lead three colleagues to stake out the back door and control the suspect's escape route."
Ma Qi and Xu Pin are experienced detectives in the First Criminal Investigation Team who have solved many major cases. After receiving the instructions, they already had candidates in mind.
Lin Yu and Song Xianzhe, who had just joined the team, were joining the task force for the first time. After thinking for a moment, Qu Zheng said, "Lin Yu, you and Song Xianzhe will be responsible for squatting on the small road at the other exit to prevent any fish from slipping through the net."
Lin Yu and Song Xianzhe looked at each other from a distance and nodded solemnly.
After all personnel were deployed, Qu Zheng issued his final instructions: "At all costs, ensure the safety of the abducted children. At the same time, you must also pay attention to your own safety. Don't get hurt. Do you understand?"
Everyone responded loudly, then packed up their guns and equipment and went to their respective duties.
After Lin Yu and Song Xianzhe packed up their equipment, they drove to a banyan tree forest at the back door of the scrap steel plant and waited.
In order to stay hidden, Lin Yu turned off the car lights after reaching the woods.
The heavy rain washed the forest wantonly, making crackling sounds among the branches and leaves. If you listen carefully, you can also hear the sound of water in the stream not far away.
The car was very quiet, and the shattered water droplets splashed on the windshield, making their vision blurry.
Lin Yu frowned and looked intently at the dirt road not far away. The muddy dirt road stretched out in a winding path towards the scrap steel plant.
Song Xianzhe is new in the team. He just graduated from the police academy and this is his first time participating in a mission.
He secretly took a deep breath, suppressed the tension in his heart, and stared at the scrap steel plant behind the dark rain curtain like Lin Yu.
Soon the two heard gunshots from the scrap steel plant, which should be Ma Qi and others taking action.
Lin Yu unbuckled his seatbelt and said to Song Xianzhe, "I'll get out of the car to check it out. You stay in the car so we can react as needed."
"Okay, Brother Yu, be careful. Call me immediately if anything happens."
Lin Yu smiled at him, said okay, then pushed open the car door and walked towards the dirt road with his back slightly hunched.
A banyan tree can form a forest with just one tree, so the distances between the trees are very close, and the broad leaves and long whiskers can well cover the vehicles, but if someone escapes in, it will be difficult to find them, so Lin Yu plans to go to the dirt road to watch.
The ground was bumpy due to the protruding tree roots. In order to stay hidden, Lin Yu did not use a flashlight. He felt the branches and carefully moved towards the scrap steel plant, then stopped at the intersection.
After a while, a beam of bright light appeared from far away in the rain and fog, and Lin Yu took shelter behind a tree.
"Run faster!" It was a male voice. Just as he finished speaking, a female voice came out, with tears in her eyes, "The road is so muddy, how can we run!"
Lin Yu narrowed his eyes slightly and saw two people walking with difficulty on the dirt road, a man and a woman, and the man was holding a flashlight.
He clenched the gun in his hand and looked at the two people again. He saw that the woman who complained was holding a little girl in her hand. The three of them stumbled along the dirt road, getting closer and closer to Lin Yu.
After he carefully confirmed the number of people, he used the walkie-talkie to signal Song Xianzhe to get ready.
When they were about to step into the banyan forest, Lin Yu stopped them.
"Who are you?" He put his hands behind his back and put the pistol on his back, then turned on the flashlight. The dazzling beam of light swept across the faces of the three people one by one.
The man looked young, thin, and frightened. He looked to be no more than seventeen or eighteen years old.
The woman was not tall and stood trembling behind him, with fear unconcealed in her brown eyes. Both of them looked at him warily.
After Lin Yu looked them up and down, his eyes fell on the child held by the woman. It was a little girl, very thin, and her frail appearance made people feel sad.
She stared straight at Lin Yu. Because her face was too thin, her pair of black eyes looked frighteningly large.
Lin Yu made a judgment in his mind, thinking that this child must be abducted, so he raised his voice a few notches, his face solemn, "Are you abducted children?"
The man and woman exchanged a glance and replied timidly, "Uncle policeman, don't be angry. The three of us finally escaped!"
The man raised his hand and pointed at the vague outline of the steel mill in the distance, his voice trembling, "Really, don't shoot!"
After he finished speaking, the woman began to cry loudly, saying that she was abducted to this village and had been locked up in a scrap steel factory for several days. Suddenly, someone rushed in tonight, and there was fighting and shooting, which scared her.
Lin Yu looked at the boy without changing his expression. The flashlight made his face look pale. "What about you?"
"I was abducted too. It was too chaotic just now, so I took them and escaped." After he said that, he lowered his head, looking timid.
"Put the flashlight and that thing at your feet, and raise your hands to your ears."
Lin Yu slid the flashlight down the boy's hand, illuminating the thick iron rod he was holding. "Throw this away."
"Yes..." The boy nodded randomly, and then explained intermittently that he took it just for self-protection. The scene just now was too scary, so he took it for self-defense.
Just as Lin Yu was about to urge him, someone suddenly grabbed his trouser leg. It was the little girl.
As soon as he lowered his head, his eyes met those huge, empty eyes.
Lin Yu frowned and looked down at her with a serious look.
The little girl wrapped her arms around his trouser legs tightly, tilted her head back, and cried shrilly, "Uncle police, save me...save me!"
She cried and tugged at the corner of Lin Yu's clothes, clinging to him like a vine.
Lin Yu had no choice but to bend down, carefully supporting her shoulders and trying to help her stand up.
As soon as he stretched out his hand, he was grabbed by the little girl. She cried and asked to be hugged, shouting that she was scared.
"Okay, don't be afraid, the police officer is here to help you." Lin Yu's tone became much softer, and he leaned over and picked her up.
The little girl's arms were cold, and when they wrapped around his neck, Lin Yu shivered subconsciously.
He patted the little girl's thin back and comforted her, "It's okay, the police are here."
The little girl sobbed, and her thin arms slowly put behind his ears.
Lin Yu felt something cold and hard pressing against his skin.
Just as he was about to turn his head, a sharp pain from the electric shock quickly penetrated into every pore.
Suddenly, everything went dark before his eyes, and he felt dizzy, hot, numb and itchy.
Lin Yu shook his head, somewhat incredulous. He loosened his wrist and the little girl almost fell down, but was hugged by him again.
As a result, his shoulders and back were hit by a heavy object again. The skinny boy raised a thick iron rod and chopped it straight at his forehead. Lin Yu regained some consciousness, gritted his teeth and raised his hand to block it.
The dull pain in his wrist made Lin Yu's heart beat faster, but his vision became clearer.
He pushed the little girl away, grabbed the iron rod, pulled it towards himself, and stood up with the help of the force.
Song Xianzhe rushed over and quickly arrested the girl who was about to escape. When he was about to help Lin Yu, he saw that he had already locked the man with a cross armbar with one hand.
"Brother Yu!" After putting the handcuffs on the man's hands, he called out to Lin Yu in panic.
The chaos finally settled down, and Lin Yu felt exhausted. The stabbing pain in the back of his neck and the piercing pain in his wrists made him feel dazed.
Song Xianzhe put his arm on his shoulder, supported him, carefully helped Lin Yu, and safely got him into the car.
"Thank you...thank you..." Lin Yu said these two words with difficulty. Looking at the three people who were subdued, he felt much more relieved and closed his eyes and fainted.
......
When I woke up again, my nose was filled with the smell of disinfectant and a deep, damp and rotten smell.
Lin Yu was choked by the smell and coughed twice, and also exhaled a breath of foul air.
The noise alerted Song Xianzhe and Qu Zheng who were talking to the doctor.
The two of them stood in front of the bed, one on each side. Their tense shoulders relaxed a little, and their solemn expressions relaxed a lot.
Song Xianzhe bowed his head and apologized first, "I'm sorry, Brother Yu, it's all my fault for being too slow to react."
Lin Yu wanted to shake his head, but before he could move, he felt a burning, numb pain in his neck. He forced a smile and said, "It's okay. It was my own negligence."
His eyes fell on Qu Zheng's face, "I'm sorry, Captain Qu, I didn't complete the task you assigned me."
Qu Zheng glanced at him, bent down and sat down, his tone emotionless. "I really didn't do it well. I said I would protect the children, but I also told you all to be careful."
Lin Yu lowered his eyelashes, looking ashamed.
Song Xianzhe hurriedly explained for him, "Captain Qu, this matter really can't be blamed on Brother Yu. The little girl's behavior was so unexpected. I didn't expect her to use a stun gun..."
"How's the child?" Lin Yu suddenly interrupted him and asked, "Is she okay?"
Song Xianzhe looked at him with a gaping mouth. Seeing the genuine concern in Lin Yu's eyes, he paused before saying, "She's fine. A female colleague is now providing psychological counseling for the abducted children."
When Lin Yu heard this, he felt relieved, breathed a sigh of relief, and his eyes became much gentler.
Qu Zheng tucked the corner of the quilt for him, and his thick eyebrows softened a little, revealing a casual look.
He watched Lin Yu enter the criminal investigation team. At first, he felt that this boy had a kind of high-spirited and upright spirit, and it seemed that he could see the shadow of sunshine in him.
He is usually friendly to everyone, but he is never vague when it comes to work.
His positive attitude and efficient and neat behavior make people feel at ease.
The most precious thing is that his kindness comes from the heart, like a warm light, and does not vary from person to person.
Lin Yu was startled by the care and concern he showed. Qu Zheng was known as the Iron-Faced Man. He swallowed hard and asked tentatively, "Captain Qu, are you okay?"
Thoughts: This chapter shows another side of Lin Yu. Of course, I can’t write anything spectacular, but after reading some materials, this is the best I can do. I will definitely work hard to expand my professional knowledge in the future!!!
I don't want to write about a very powerful policeman or a shocking case. I want to write more about the growth of the character. As a young policeman, Lin Yu definitely has his own shortcomings and needs to grow. This chapter is about what he experienced and how he grew up.
I don't want to write him as someone with a golden finger. He is a very ordinary person and a very gentle person.
Thank you Weiyang, thank you my Mingmingyue, thank you baby Youran and thank you to everyone who has followed me, love you!!!
