Chapter 59 An eyesore
The sun was scorching, and there was barely a shadow in front of the Side Building. There was a huge stream of people in front of the crowded club recruitment booths.
You Ran and Bao Zhen squeezed into the crowd, looking for clubs that interested them.
Jiang Yao saw the literature club and said to Chen Wan with a smile, "Wan Wan, do you want to join the literature club?"
Chen Wan glanced at the requirements on the recruitment notice board and saw that he had to read two classics every week. He shook his head and said, "I'm not really suitable. Forget it."
The science she studied in high school and the law major she is currently studying are already very difficult and profound for her, not to mention finding time to read classics.
"Okay, then I'll go take a look first. You can also look for a club that you're interested in." Jiang Yao said and left.
Chen Wan's ears were filled with all kinds of recruitment slogans. He browsed through them casually, trying to find a club that was not so popular.
After looking around for more than ten minutes, I finally saw a very deserted stall in the corner.
Compared with the bustling crowds in front of other recruitment stalls, this small stall can be said to be deserted.
Chen Wan looked at the name of the club, "Billionaire Club", raised his eyebrows slightly, and became interested.
The blue ceiling cast a large area of shade, and scattered on the small table were a few boxes of Monopoly cards and a bottle of ice water with fine steam.
Her gaze fell on the recruiter lying on the chair.
He was a thin boy, wearing a loose white T-shirt and walking leisurely with his long legs crossed.
His elbow was pressing an advertising leaflet, and when he raised his hand, it stuck to his face, covering most of his facial features.
Chen Wan didn't see his face clearly, but he felt that his lazy temperament was very unique in this noisy place.
There's a feeling of stealing a little time from my busy life, or perhaps it would be more accurate to say that I've given up on myself.
As she was bending down to check the card introduction, she heard the recruiter opposite her speak.
The voice is low, lazy and casual.
"Classmate, are you interested in the game Monopoly?"
Chen Wan slowly raised his eyes and looked at him. After seeing who it was, he was a little surprised, "Yi Wan."
"It's you, little penguin!" Yi Wan slowly opened his eyes wide after seeing her, his expression filled with unconcealed joy, "You call, you call!"
His voice suddenly rose a few notches, his amber eyes were exceptionally bright, and he seemed very confident that he could call out the name.
But after hesitating for a long time, he finally scratched his hair and asked her innocently, "Junior, didn't you tell me your name?"
Chen Wan was amused by his hesitancy, "Chen Wan, Chen Lao Chen, the night."
"Oh, Chen Wan, do you want to join our club?" He stood up, put his hands on the table, leaned over slightly, and kept his eyes level with hers.
There was a bright sunlight in his eyes and he smiled calmly.
When he mentioned the word "we", Chen Wan subconsciously looked behind him, and when he looked away, he met his slightly embarrassed smile.
"Now that you're here, it's us, hehe."
Chen Wan did not agree with him, but just lowered his eyes and smiled implicitly.
"Is this the only game we need for club activities?" She picked up a card. "Are there other things we don't need to do?"
Yi Wan nodded, showing a bit more fighting spirit and enthusiasm to recruit new members. "We can also play chess."
"Play chess?"
"Gomoku, hopscotch, chess, any of them are fine. Gomoku is the one I'm best at." Yi Wan proudly introduced his strengths, trying to attract Chen Wan's attention.
Chen Wan nodded and put the card down to show that he understood.
No matter how you look at it, this club is unreliable.
Although she had little contact with Yi Wan, the innocent childishness of this man seemed out of place in some aspects.
"Thank you, I'm just taking a look. Sorry to bother you." Chen Wan said and prepared to leave.
She never expected that when she raised her eyes, she would meet Yi Wan's eager and pitiful eyes, looking at her like an abandoned puppy.
His double eyelids are deep but the lines are soft, and when he looks at people, his eyes are naturally filled with deep affection.
"Junior, please join this club. If I can't recruit new members, the school will forcibly ban it." He clasped his hands together and spoke in an earnest tone.
Chen Wan looked away with some reluctance and looked at the surging crowds in front of other stalls.
Yi Wan saw the hesitation in her eyes and started chattering about the club's affairs.
"Although our club is small, as the saying goes, scarcity makes things valuable. If there are fewer people, promotions will be faster and there will be more benefits."
After hearing his clear and coherent explanation, Chen Wan stopped and asked him, "Promotion speed, benefits?"
Seeing that her interest was finally piqued, Yi Wan grinned broadly and tempted her, "For example, if you join the club now, you'll be the vice president, and your benefits will definitely be better than those of a member!"
Chen Wan looked at the deserted stall again in silence. Even if he became the vice president, he would just sit on the bench together.
She smiled politely and tried to leave again, but before she could take a step, a flashy flyer suddenly appeared in front of her.
"Junior, please, if we can't recruit more people, our club will be merged into the crosstalk club."
Chen Wan thought that it was a good fit, and Yi Wan's personality would definitely make him shine in the crosstalk club.
"Junior, Junior Chen Wan..." He held the flyer, fanned her with a smile, and coaxed her, "Or you can be the president!"
She sighed helplessly, took the flyer, and took another look at it. She found that the club's only requirement was "Just have fun."
After looking at the pitiful Yi Wan again, he compromised and said, "Okay, but you are more suitable for the position of president."
After seeing her sign the consent form for joining the company, Yi Wan felt relieved and wrote his signature smoothly.
"From today on, you, junior sister, are the vice president." He waved his hand with great momentum, as if he was passing on the throne to the leader of the martial arts world.
Chen Wan nodded calmly, "Okay."
"There are club activities every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. I'll let you know when the time comes. Our club is very free and informal."
Chen Wan said he had noted it, and then asked if he could leave.
"Sure, sure. Thank you." Yi Wan thanked her repeatedly, then looked at the noisy crowd and asked her, "It's so hot, can I buy you some milk tea?"
"No need, my roommates are looking for me." Chen Wan picked up a flyer and put it in his bag. "Goodbye, senior."
Seeing that she had regained her distance, Yi Wan stopped trying to persuade her to stay. He smiled and waved, "Goodbye, Chen Wan."
Only after Chen Wan walked away did he sit back in the recliner, holding up the signature form, and slowly traced Chen Wan's name with his fingertips along the stroke of the pen.
......
When Zhang Yang saw Lin Yu come in, he poured him a glass of water, pointed to the sofa, and said with a friendly smile, "Sit down."
Lin Yu took the water, thanked him respectfully, and then got to the point. "Director, did you call me here because of the transfer procedures?"
"Yes, I've been a bit busy lately. The political review procedures for the inter-city transfer are a bit complicated, and it was only approved yesterday, so it took a while." Zhang Yang opened the drawer and took out the file bag. "Let's confirm it. If there are no problems, please sign and give it to the Human Resources Department for processing."
Hearing this, Lin Yu took the folder, took out the information, and after confirming it, he was a little surprised. "Can I go to Linbei tomorrow?"
Zhang Yang handed him a pen and nodded, "Yes, the special investigation team in Linbei has made new progress and cut off a transportation channel."
After signing their names, he and Lin Yu closed the pens and pondered the new developments that Director Zhang mentioned.
"Senior Zhou's team is truly efficient. They've already seized several batches of new drugs in the past two weeks. You'll benefit greatly from joining his team in Linbei." Zhang Yang patted his shoulder, affirming him. "Lin Yu, when I assigned you to investigate a trafficking ring last time, I noticed you had a keen eye."
Lin Yu scratched his hair, his eyes flickering, and said with a smile, "Director, you are exaggerating."
"It's no exaggeration. When it comes to investigating a case, this quality is hard to come by. You have to learn to use your strengths." A pleased smile appeared on Zhang Yang's resolute face.
Hearing his superior's genuine affirmation, Lin Yu's originally reserved attitude relaxed a lot, and he thanked him sincerely, "I understand, thank you."
"I hope you stay true to yourself no matter where you are." Director Zhang sat back down, took a sip of water, and said with a smile, "Today, your captain Qu said they would hold a farewell party for you. You've only been here for half a year, and you're still quite popular."
Hearing this, Lin Yu raised his hand and rubbed his nose a little embarrassedly. "Captain Qu is really too particular. I have received a lot of care in the past six months in Nancheng. I am really grateful."
Director Zhang waved his hand at him and said in a kind tone, "Let's not talk about these official terms anymore. Go to the personnel department and submit your documents first."
"Yes." Lin Yu bowed deeply to him, and when he raised his head again, his eyes were sharp, "I will continue to work hard."
The bright sunlight cast a halo around him, making his handsome face look awe-inspiring.
Zhang Yang recalled the same scene last time. The young man in front of him had bright pupils and a determined expression, and the sunlight only served as an embellishment.
As he walked out, Lin Yu happened to pass by Qiao Yue who was pushing the door open.
They both stopped walking. Lin Yu nodded slightly, said hello to her, and left.
"Director Zhang, I've brought you the report you requested."
She glanced at Lin Yu as he walked away through the glass wall and smiled. "He looked a little depressed at noon. What did you say to him? He looks much more energetic now."
"He didn't tell you about the transfer to Linbei?" Director Zhang gestured for her to sit down. "Given his current qualifications, this is quite beneficial. It's obvious that Lin Yu is an ambitious young man."
It was rare to hear the director speak so highly of his subordinates. Qiao Yue smiled and said, "Indeed, my master said at the time that he was a natural born policeman."
Hearing her mention the master, Director Zhang raised his eyebrows slightly, "Now that you mention it, it just occurred to me that you and Lin Yu were both brought up by Senior Zhou, right?"
"Yeah." Speaking of Zhou Zongqi, Qiao Yue suddenly remembered something she had recently learned. "It is said that a large number of new drugs were seized in Linbei recently, but because of the high-level election..."
Zhang Yang slowly raised his eyes to look at her, his gaze as sharp as an eagle.
She stopped the topic in time, looked away and drank some water.
I was thinking that the current situation in Linbei was not very clear, and I didn’t know whether it was a good thing or a bad thing to transfer Lin Yu there at this critical juncture.
Director Zhang saw the hesitation in her expression and after a moment's thought, he spoke, "When Senior Zhou solved the Tang family case, everyone said he would rise to prominence, but unexpectedly he only became the director of the Criminal Investigation Bureau."
"But in my opinion, this is his unwavering ambition."
After hearing this, Qiao Yue's eyes gradually became clear and she seemed to understand something.
"You should have seen the files from back then. With Tang Ze reappearing and this case, the criminal gang's pattern of using minors to transport drugs is essentially the same as it was back then."
Zhang Yang's thick, dark brows knitted together, carving hard grooves into his skin. "Only by disturbing this fragile peace once more, and waiting for all the mud and sand to settle, will there be a chance to completely quell the unrest."
My sisters may be on the new work recommendation list this week, I hope everyone will support me (send me tickets! Love you!)
