Chapter 2 Falling Snow

Chapter 2 Falling Snow

Winter came with heavy snow, and Chen Wan also adapted to Lin Yu's presence in his life.

His concern is always subtle, but sometimes it can be excessive and seem nagging.

For example, one time when I saw her buying groceries, I said very critically, "Are you a rabbit? You only eat grass? Why didn't you buy any meat? You look so skinny."

Chen Wan avoided him and said, "I like to eat vegetarian food."

After a while, Lin Yu knocked on the door, holding two bags of vegetables in his hands. "I bought the wrong vegetables. I didn't expect that I was allergic to chicken."

He sighed with pretended regret, and Chen Wan looked at him expressionlessly.

"Besides, I don't know how to cook. It's such a waste of ingredients." Lin Yu sighed again.

“You provide the food, and I’ll cook it.”

Chen Wan compromised, mainly because she really didn't expect that Lin Yu, who looked quite serious on the outside, could be so childish when he acted like a rogue.

She stewed a pot of chicken soup, and Lin Yu drank it with relish.

Chen Wan suddenly said, "Aren't you allergic to chicken?"

Lin Yu choked when he heard this, holding the bowl and said awkwardly, "I'm allergic to raw chicken."

Chen Wan: “…”

Every weekend, Lin Yu would buy a lot of vegetables, come to eat with a legitimate reason, and help her clean.

Lin Yu said that he had a little niece who just started high school this year and was about the same age as Chen Wan, so he felt very close to her when he saw her. In addition, with Qiao Yue's instructions, he couldn't help but pay more attention to her.

Chen Wan didn't want to expose him.

"I see that most of the senior high school students in our alley live on campus. Why don't you live in the dormitory? It's so inconvenient to leave early and come back late every day."

Lin Yu was really worried about her, as the workload in senior year of high school was already heavy.

It is cold in winter, and at night the snow covers the ground, making the roads unsafe.

When Chen Wan heard his question, she answered vaguely. She didn't want Lin Yu to know about her embarrassing things at school.

But Lin Yu still found out because her parents were called in because of the fight between her and Zhang Yu. Qiao Yue couldn't come, so Lin Yu came in her place.

The head teacher was a young teacher who was not very good at handling conflicts. He could appease one side but found it difficult to appease the other. Zhang Yu's mother was a very aggressive woman who didn't care about her surroundings. She pointed at Chen Wan and started swearing.

When Lin Yu arrived, he just heard the words "It's all your fault that we have lost our family."

Zhang Yu's father and Chen Wan's father used to be colleagues and had a good relationship. However, under the instigation of Chen Wan's father, Zhang Yu got addicted to drugs. After returning from drug rehabilitation, he became moody. Because of the stain on his file, he couldn't find a job, and the whole family lived in misery.

Zhang Yu and Chen Wan were classmates, and the fight broke out because they were angry with each other.

Chen Wan looked at Zhang Yu's mother coldly. She was being unreasonable just to vent her anger, so he simply ignored her.

"Please calm down." Lin Yu walked in front of Chen Wan and blocked the insults for her.

Because he came in a hurry and was wearing a police uniform, Zhang's mother didn't dare to do anything else and shut up angrily.

The head teacher breathed a sigh of relief upon seeing this, and recounted the entire situation to Lin Yu, "There was a conflict between the two students, so we asked their parents to come over."

Lin Yu glanced at Zhang Yu with a serious look, "Student Zhang, how old are you this year?"

Zhang Yu was a little scared of him and whispered, "Seventeen."

"As long as you are over 14, you will be held legally responsible. If the circumstances are serious, you will be subject to legal sanctions."

After hearing his words, Zhang Yu instantly subsided, and Zhang's mother also subsided a little, but her tone was still arrogant. "Don't think you can threaten us just because you are a police officer. If you want to arrest someone, arrest her."

She pointed at Chen Wan and said, "Her father is a drug dealer. If it weren't for her father, how could our family be in such a mess?"

Lin Yu pinched his brows and said coldly, "That's her father's problem. It has nothing to do with her. Besides, it's your husband's drug abuse that has led to the current situation. If he hadn't violated the law, would this have happened?"

Zhang Yu and her daughter's unreasonable behavior was based on their own misfortunes and they took their anger out on Chen Wan, believing that the source of the family conflict was the Chen family.

But the fact is that it was Zhang's father who made the mistake.

"Besides, Chen Wan is a legal citizen. I won't arrest her. However, if your daughter or your family does anything illegal to her again, the police will not sit idly by." Lin Yu finished his businesslike remarks and looked at Zhang Yu. "You must also apologize to Chen Wan for what happened today."

It was the first time that Chen Wan heard Lin Yu's cold voice. He looked up at him with a serious expression. There was darkness in his eyes, as gloomy as the sky before a rainstorm.

The mother and daughter apologized reluctantly, and the head teacher breathed a sigh of relief and let Zhang Yu and Chen Wan go back to class first.

When Lin Yu was about to leave, he was stopped, "Officer Lin, I have something to tell you."

What she wanted to talk about was Chen Wan's qualification for the winter camp.

"Our school has teamed up with several prestigious universities to organize a remedial class, bringing together high-achieving students during the winter break. This will be beneficial for independent enrollment."

The head teacher patiently explained, "Chen Wan is on the list for this training, but she refused to attend. The school offered to halve the fee, but she still refused. So I thought I could ask her guardian to talk to her, but... can you please persuade her?"

From her brief pause, Lin Yu felt helpless. Chen Wan was currently unattended and his only guardian was still in prison.

"She's a promising young talent, and the school doesn't want to give up on her. We hope Officer Lin can do some convincing for her."

After thinking for a moment, Lin Yu said slowly, "Okay, I'll talk to her."

The head teacher smiled comfortably, "That's great."

Lin Yu nodded, said goodbye to her politely, and returned to the police station.

After get off work, Qiao Yue called to ask about the situation, so he told her about the winter camp. At the end, he said sadly, "How do I start this?"

"Don't tell her, just register her. I'll pay for it, but I just want to keep it a secret." Qiao Yue said firmly

Lin Yu twirled his pen absentmindedly, and said hesitantly, "This isn't appropriate. We have to respect her opinion."

"She must have refused because of the cost." Qiao Yue knew Chen Wan quite well. She hated accepting favors the most. "Just don't let anything slip. This is a rare opportunity."

Lin Yu rubbed his forehead and said, "Okay, I'll call the teacher. I'll pay for the rest. I eat at her house every week, so I have to make up for the food expenses."

Qiao Yue knew why he was eating for free, and said with a smile, "I didn't expect you to be so thoughtful. But I rarely eat the food that Wan'er cooks. I'm jealous!"

After chatting with her for a while, Lin Yu called the class teacher.

Following Qiao Yue's suggestion, I discussed with her and told Chen Wan that the school would pay for her tuition so that she could focus on her tutoring.

Soon after, the sound of a door opening was heard from next door. It was Chen Wan who came back from school.

Lin Yu took the medicine box, opened the door and called her.

"Don't go home yet."

Chen Wan looked at him in confusion, "What's wrong?"

"You were injured today, right? Here are some medicines." Lin Yu handed her the medicine box and asked, "Where are you injured?"

Chen Wan waved his hand and said it was not serious. He saw a large abrasion on his elbow, which looked painful.

Lin Yu glanced at her unhappily and pulled her into the living room.

Chen Wan was a little panicked. Lin Yu used a cotton swab dipped in disinfectant alcohol to wipe her wound, and said cautiously, "It hurts a little, bear with it."

The finger bones are slightly curved like rolling green hills.

Chen Wan looked at him applying the medicine seriously, and suddenly felt a warmth in his heart.

"Don't worry about what happened today." Lin Yu suddenly said.

"Oh, it's okay. I'm used to it." Chen Wan replied casually.

The discussions in the alleys and the rumors in school are too tiring to take seriously.

Lin Yuyao paused and looked up at her. "Are you used to it?"

After a moment, he said seriously, "When you encounter this kind of thing in the future, you must learn to use the weapon of law to protect yourself."

"The weapons of the law..."

"That's right, someone like me you can use as you please."

Chen Wan was stunned when he heard this, feeling a little amused and helpless.

Lin Yu continued, "I will protect you from now on."

Chen Wan didn't say anything, but looked at his drooping eyelashes and the falling snow outside the window, one black and one white, like an ink painting.

There was a dim warm light inside the room, and the snow outside the window was bright and clear.

Chen Wan used to think that the falling snow was silent, but now it seems noisy.

But Lin Yu still maintained his gentle appearance, which made her feel a little bit of joy rising in her heart, like floating snow, and suddenly disappeared without a trace.

"You don't have to take care of me like this."

Lin Yu smiled slightly: "You are my little idol, of course I have to protect you."

"Idol?" Chen Wan was stunned. "Do you mean reporting drug use?"

Lin Yu remained noncommittal. "It was someone else who was wrong today. You are very good."

He spoke in a gentle tone and coaxed her like a child.

The indescribable thoughts that arose in Chen Wan's mind were like a layer of snow, gently pressing on his heart.

I knew it was a good deed from the beginning, but when did I start to take it to heart?

Breakfast, midnight snack, weekend snack, it is natural to include it in your life.

Lin Yu was like a tree, growing branches and shielding her from wind and rain.

But after I really asked the answer, I felt lost.

Not pity, but reverence.

Chen Wan thanked him and said, "Don't worship me like that. I'm not good."

Before Lin Yu could react, she was gone.

The last sentence is like the refreshing snow.
