Chapter 263: Silencing the Witness
Ji Lin wanted to say something more, but looking at Ji Wan's persistent look, he knew that no matter how much he said, it would be useless.
I could only sigh helplessly and whispered, "Okay, but if you feel tired or can't hold on any longer, you must tell me, I will always be by your side."
"Brother, don't worry."
Ji Lin hugged Ji Wan and waited quietly by her side until she finished her meal.
…
There was no one on the road, only the occasional whistling sound of the wind broke the deathly silence.
Chi Mingwei was dressed in black clothes and black pants, and his outfit looked particularly out of place on the empty road.
He was carrying a large backpack, the weight of which made his body lean forward slightly, his steps were a little heavy, and he covered his abdomen while walking.
At this moment, he looked tired and looked around with a bit of alertness on his face.
Suddenly, a van drove slowly towards us, and the roar of the car seemed particularly harsh on the quiet road.
The van slowly stopped beside Chi Mingwei, the door opened with a "clatter", and a deep voice came from inside, "Hurry up and get in!"
Chi Mingwei quickly got into the car, which started slowly and drove towards the airport.
Chi Mingwei sat in the car, looking at the scenery receding outside the window, feeling complicated.
"Bring me the money."
"I brought it."
Next to him sat a bodyguard-like figure who pulled out a large box. When he opened it, it was filled with money. This was all the money Chi Mingwei had earned from selling his luxury car.
He doesn't want to live like a poor dog during these years abroad.
I put all the money into the bag and when we were about to reach the airport, the car suddenly turned a corner without any warning.
Chi Mingwei's body suddenly tilted to one side, his hands instinctively grabbing the armrest of the seat beside him, and he shouted, "What's going on? Why did you turn suddenly?"
The driver didn't answer him, but there was a barely perceptible flash of panic in his eyes.
Chi Mingwei had a bad feeling in his heart.
The car slowly drove into a dilapidated area with abandoned buildings everywhere, graffiti on the walls and a pungent smell of gasoline.
When they arrived at the gate of an abandoned factory, the car door was opened roughly. Before Chi Mingwei could react, several burly men dragged him out of the car.
His hands were tied tightly behind his back and a piece of rag was stuffed in his mouth, so he could only make "wuwu" sounds.
The men escorted him into the factory. Once inside, the air was filled with a pungent smell of rust and decay, which was suffocating.
There was a man standing in the middle of the factory, and his back looked very familiar.
When everyone turned around, it was Chi Lin.
When Chi Lin saw Chi Mingwei being brought over, a half-smile appeared on his face.
"Cousin." Chi Lin's voice echoed in the empty factory, with a creepy teasing tone.
"Chi Lin, what do you mean? You're going to destroy the bridge after crossing it!"
Chi Lin slowly walked around him, as if examining a piece of merchandise.
Hearing this, he smiled and said, "Cousin, did you just see that?"
"If you touch me, you won't have an easy time!"
"Cousin, you're not still counting on your second uncle to save you, are you? Your second uncle is already old, and I'm afraid he's powerless to do anything he wants to do."
Chi Lin clapped his hands, and the bodyguards gathered around him, two of them holding paper money in their hands.
"What are you doing! You want to kill me!"
"Yes, I was just following orders. My cousin treated me well, but don't blame me for what happened today."
Chi Mingwei struggled, but it was of no avail.
The next second he was tied to a pillar. Chi Lin stopped, stood in front of Chi Mingwei, and smiled like a fox.
"Cousin, let me teach you some truths of the world. You are always too naive. In this world, not everything can be easily obtained. You want too many things, but you don't have the ability to match them. No matter how hard you try, it will be in vain." Chi Lin said, shaking his head gently.
Cold sweat broke out on Chi Mingwei's forehead.
"Wait, if you let me go, I won't tell anyone about us. I'll go abroad and never appear in front of you again, okay?"
"There's no chance, cousin. Maybe in the next life." Chi Lin said coldly. He waved his hand and several of his men brought piles of paper money and piled them on Chi Mingwei.
Chi Mingwei was tied to a pillar at this time, with a cloth strip stuffed in his mouth. He could only make whimpering sounds and twisted his body desperately, trying to break free from the restraints, but it was all in vain.
Chi Lin looked at Chi Mingwei's miserable appearance, a cruel smile appeared on the corner of his mouth, and then he turned and left without looking back.
A moment later, there was a loud "bang" and the abandoned factory exploded.
Huge flames shot up into the sky, illuminating the entire dark night sky.
Dust and smoke filled the air, and everything inside returned to dust.
"Master, let's go. The pollution here is a bit too big."
Chi Lin withdrew his gaze, nodded, got in the car and drove away.
That same evening, the news was broadcast live.
"Dear viewers, a major incident occurred tonight. An abandoned factory in the suburbs of our city suddenly exploded. The cause of the explosion is currently under investigation..."
In the old house of the Chi family, Uncle Chi was sitting on the sofa in the living room. Next to him was Chi Lin, who had just returned and was still covered in dust.
"Well done."
"You are such a good guide." Chi Lin hurriedly bowed slightly, with just the right amount of humility on his face.
Uncle Chi waved his hand and said, "You don't have to be too modest. I have cultivated you since you were young. You are a good seedling who can inherit my legacy."
Hearing the words "inherit the mantle", Chi Lin's heartbeat suddenly accelerated, and a hint of surprise flashed in his drooping eyes.
Uncle Chi stood up and patted Chi Lin on the shoulder.
"Tomorrow, you will take over the position of group president. I have already made arrangements."
Chi Lin suddenly raised his head, restrained his emotions, took a deep breath and said, "Dad, this... this is too sudden. I'm afraid I'm not yet qualified for this position. I'm worried that I'll let you down."
"What is there to be afraid of my son? Who can stop us now? Chi Wenyan has been killed, and that idiot Chi Mingwei has also passed away."
Uncle Chi sneered and looked at the gloomy weather outside the window.
"As for Chi Lao Er, he is just a spent force. What can he do?"
"yes."
"Do your best and don't let me down."
Uncle Chi left the living room after he finished speaking. Chi Lin straightened up, his eyes gloomy, and a crazy smile appeared at the corner of his mouth.
In the hospital, Uncle Chi's eyelids couldn't stop twitching, and he waved his hand to let the bodyguard in.
"Did you see that boy?"
"Still resting in the ward."
Uncle Chi's face was gloomy. This kid had been quiet ever since he had a quarrel with his friend last time and was crippled. He hadn't come to see him for two days.
