Chapter 299: Dangers
Chi Wenyan looked at Ji Wan, who was obviously drunk, and a complicated look flashed in his eyes.
He knew that Chi Lin had been ruthless towards the Ji family recently, and he also roughly guessed Ji Wan's situation.
"Are you alone?" Chi Wenyan asked, sitting down next to her.
Ji Wan nodded slightly, his eyes a little distracted, "It seems like my world is about to fall."
Chi Wenyan didn't ask much, but just accompanied her silently and occasionally clinked glasses with her.
At some point, Ji Wan leaned on Chi Wenyan's shoulder, her voice as soft as a whisper, "I hate him, I hate Chi Lin."
Chi Wenyan's body stiffened slightly, but he didn't push her away, letting her lean on his shoulder.
The bar's dim lights and low music concealed the complicated atmosphere between the two.
Ji Wan raised her head, the alcohol made her eyes moist and shining, like stars falling into a lake.
She looked at Chi Wenyan's face, and in a trance she seemed to see a trace of Chi Lin's shadow, and a complex emotion surged in her heart.
Hatred, resentment, and inexplicable emotions.
Chi Wenyan's eyes seemed to be soaked in alcohol, becoming deep and dangerous.
The breathing of the two people was particularly clear in the noisy bar, and it seemed that even their heartbeats were in sync.
Ji Wan didn't remember how he and Chi Wenyan left the bar, nor did he remember who kissed whom first.
But she remembered that Chi Wenyan's embrace was warm and strong, allowing her to temporarily forget the cruelty of reality.
The hotel lights shone on the entangled figures of the two people, and their shadows stretched on the wall, blurring the boundaries between them.
No one spoke that night, only breathing and heartbeats told the unspeakable secret.
Early in the morning, Ji Wan woke up first, looked at Chi Wenyan who was sleeping beside him, and recalled the madness of last night.
She quietly got up, put on her clothes, and left the hotel quietly.
The cool morning air dispelled the last trace of drunkenness from her mind.
Ji Wan looked at his watch. It was 7 o'clock sharp, and there were only a few hours left before the deadline given by Chi Lin.
She smiled bitterly, not knowing if this was a betrayal of her principles.
Having a one-night stand with her enemy's relative was probably the biggest irony of fate to her.
Ji Wan was walking on the street. There were few pedestrians and the shops had just opened.
She refused to take a taxi and just wanted to walk to sober herself up.
Suddenly, the sound of a car engine was heard behind her, and then a low-key black sedan stopped beside her.
The car window slowly lowered, revealing Chi Wenyan's handsome face.
"Get in the car, I'll take you there." He said in a low voice.
Ji Wan was stunned, alarm bells ringing in his heart.
This person is not that simple. None of the people in the Chi family are easy to deal with.
Ji Wan hesitated for a moment, then opened the car door and got in.
She needed to rush home to change clothes and then go to Chi's to see Chi Lin. No matter what, Ji's family couldn't fall.
The atmosphere in the car was subtle, and neither of them mentioned what happened last night.
"Where are you going?" Chi Wenyan asked.
"Huating Community." Ji Wan answered briefly, leaning against the car door and keeping a distance from Chi Wenyan.
Chi Wenyan said nothing more, just focused on driving. Occasionally, he would glance at her in the rearview mirror, his eyes deep and difficult to discern.
Soft piano music was playing in the car, but it could not conceal the subtle atmosphere between the two people.
Ji Wan looked out the window, her mind drifting away. After a one-night stand, she had to compromise with the man's relatives. She encountered all sorts of bizarre situations.
The driver Zhou Yan suddenly made a sharp turn, and Ji Wan was caught off guard and fell towards Chi Wenyan.
Chi Wenyan reached out to catch her, put his arms around her waist and pulled her close to him.
The two were close to each other, their breaths intertwined, and their postures were ambiguous.
Ji Wan could feel Chi Wenyan's strong heartbeat and the faint scent of cologne on his body.
She looked up and met Chi Wenyan's deep gaze.
Ji Wan got out of Chi Wenyan's car, straightened his clothes and expression, took a deep breath and walked into the Chi building.
The towering glass building reflected the sunlight, like a sharp knife piercing the sky. Ji Wan looked up, his heart filled with bitterness.
She had sworn never to bow to Chi Lin, but now she had to step into his territory and submit to him.
The receptionist showed a hint of surprise when she saw Ji Wan. "Are you Mr. Ji? Mr. Chi is already waiting for you."
Ji Wan nodded, his expression as frozen as ice, without any sign of fluctuation.
The elevator goes directly to the top floor, Chi Lin's office.
Chi Lin was sitting behind a large desk. When he saw Ji Wan come in, a smug smile appeared on the corner of his mouth.
"Mr. Ji, you're here. It seems you made a wise choice."
Ji Wan looked straight at him and said in a cold and hard voice, "What are my conditions?"
"It's simple. From today on, you are just an ordinary employee of the Chi Group."
Chi Lin stood up, walked around the desk and came to Ji Wan. "As for the position, I have already arranged it. It's a level three supervisor in the business department."
A hint of sarcasm flashed in Ji Wan's eyes. "A dignified CEO of Ji Group has fallen to the level of a third-level supervisor?"
Chi Lin smiled slightly and said, "You should be glad that I didn't let you start from the grassroots level."
He reached out and pinched Ji Wan's chin, "This arrangement is to let you understand who is the real strong one in this world."
Ji Wan broke free from his hand and took a step back, anger burning in her eyes. "Chi Lin, do you promise to let go of the Ji family's matter?"
"Of course, as long as you work for me obediently, the Ji family will be safe."
Chi Lin straightened his suit and said, "Now, go report. Liu Zixin is waiting for you."
Ji Wan turned and left the office, his back as straight as a pine tree.
Chi Lin looked at her from behind, his eyes turning cold. He picked up the phone, "Liu Zixin, she's here. Do as I say and make her give up."
The business department was located on the 15th floor of the building. Ji Wan stood in the elevator, feeling a mixture of emotions. The disparity between her current position as CEO and her current situation left her feeling dazed.
The elevator door opened, Ji Wan stepped out and headed straight for the business department office area.
A middle-aged man in a neat suit walked towards me with a formal smile on his face.
"Ms. Ji Wan? I'm Liu Zixin, the business manager." He extended his hand, but his eyes were full of scrutiny.
Ji Wan shook his hand and said, "Manager Liu, please give me your guidance."
Liu Zixin took Ji Wan through the open office area, and everyone's eyes were cast on this new colleague.
Ji Wan could feel the curiosity and inquiry in those eyes.
"This is your workstation. Next to you is Cheng Wen. You will be responsible for business development in the three northern provinces together." Liu Zixin said, pointing to a window seat in the corner.
Sitting next to him was a young man who looked to be about 27 or 28 years old. He was wearing glasses and had a serious expression.
Cheng Wen stood up and nodded simply, "Ms. Ji, I'm Cheng Wen."
Ji Wan smiled back, "Just call me Ji Wan."
Liu Zixin clapped his hands. "Alright, enough pleasantries. Cheng Wen, give Ji Wan the information on the Nanjing project so she can familiarize herself with it as quickly as possible. We'll be going to the client to make a proposal next Monday."
Cheng Wen's expression changed. "Manager Liu, Nanjing project."
